I joined LA Fitness Highland Park just two months ago to get back into working out. I really like…read moremy personal trainer, he's been great, patient, and helping me make real progress. Unfortunately, LA Fitness as a business has been the complete opposite. The gym constantly has broken machines, sinks that don't work, a front door thats broken for weeks, and there hasn't been hot water for nearly two weeks. Then, today, I walked in and found out the gym is closing permanently on November 20, giving members just 17 days' notice. I recently paid $720 for 9 personal training sessions and $118 for the annual membership fee, both of which I can't use now. My trainer told me he's out of town until after the gym closes, so I literally cannot use what I already paid for. When I spoke with Jessica Zavala, the District Operations Manager, she refused a refund and kept repeating the fine print of the contract, like she was a lawyer. She said I could "just go to another club" or "pick a new trainer." I don't have transportation. The only reason I'm able to work out at this gym is because my wife drops me off on her way to work. I didn't sign up to start over with a different trainer or go to a different gym miles away. I paid for this location, with this trainer, and expected LA Fitness to operate in good faith. This is incredibly unethical and shows zero integrity. A multi-billion-dollar company should not be hiding behind contract technicalities while closing a gym with barely two weeks' notice and refusing to refund customers for services they can't possibly use. All I want is a fair refund for what I didn't get.

I have belonged to this fitness center on and off for 15 years and am a huge fan…read more No, it is not a deluxe health club and spa facility, it is a good, basic gym with everything you need to get a fine workout: plenty of cardio and weight machines, exercise mats, jump ropes and other tools for calisthenic work. There are freshly laundered towels and a basic locker room with showers. The water fountains are cold and there are hanging TVs that are tuned to radio frequencies so you can watch and listen to a variety of TV shows. The price is $75/month, or something like $60/month if you pay the annual fee. All in all, pretty good value for access to all that equipment. There is also childcare available for $6 up to an hour and a half, which seems pretty cheap to me, especially given that so many people rave about its quality. They have started offering a few group fitness classes, but I can't speak to those other than by saying that all the classes are early morning, and there isn't much variety. I am not giving it five stars because I think its day pass rate is expensive ($15) and wish it provided a punch card option for people who can't work out regularly, but would nevertheless like occasional access to the gym. I would also like more variety of fitness classes (spinning?). Nevertheless, I recommend this to anyone looking for a low-key, no-fuss gym.

Great mix of cardio, from treadmills to stationary bikes to rowing, strength machines and free weights, and cross-fit space for burpees to sit-ups. We are all about simply staying healthy, living an active life, it is nice to bump into good people at the Fitness Centre that share the same goals

I know many people who spend $100+ per hour on personal trainers, but thanks to Definition Fitness…read moreyou can experience the perks of personal training at a fraction of the cost. For just $25/session (yes- $25!!) Dan offers semi-personal training sessions basically whenever you want. I've been trained by Dan 4 times in the past few weeks & here's why I"ll continue to be a regular customer: - Challenging workouts: Thanks (or maybe no thanks) to Dan I've been sore for the first time in a few years. While I incorporate a lot of shred415 and spinning into my fitness routine, I realize I've been missing necessary weight training. - Flexibility: Between 3 small children and a busy job I can hardly keep my schedule straight. I can't commit to a specific time each week, but Dan is happy to train me whenever with just a 1/2 hour notice (although I do try to give him more than that). I've been there in the morning, mid afternoon and evening...and he's been ready each time with a challenging workout. - Focus on form: I'm pretty sure I do half the moves wrong when I take classes, but the instructors are so busy that they rarely take the time to correct my form. Dan spends time on every move to make sure my form is correct. In my 4 times at his gym I've been by myself or with 1 other person so he's able to spend time correcting form. - Nice guy: A challenging workout can suck if you don't have any distractions. However, Dan is fun to chat/gossip with so the hours I've spent with him go relatively fast. Unfortunately, he has the ability to chat and count at the same time so the chit chat doesn't mean I can any easier workouts. I paid for 12 workouts upfront so will be spending lots more time with Dan in the near future and recommend to anyone else looking for a challenging, affordable and/or flexible personal trainer.

Definition Fitness transformed my body. A month and a half after joining Definition Fitness I had…read moredropped 10 lbs and a dress size. This is all due to the dynamic combination of cardio and weight training by the amazing trainers at DF. Dan Deitch, the owner, is not only an amazing trainer, but a really great guy who will do anything to accommodate your schedule. The trainers are funny and engaging, and give great workouts...never the same one twice! It is hands down the best fitness facility I have ever been affiliated with, and I have done it all. $100 per hour personal trainers, fancy fitness studios...they all pale in comparison to the workout I get and the fun I have at Definition Fitness. At $25 per hour it is also the best deal in town. Not only are the trainers great, but the clientele is as well. Sometimes it will just be you and a trainer one on one, but sometimes the trainer might be working out one or two other people as well. As people go in around the same time each week, you get to know the other people you train with and I have made some wonderful new friends! I can't say enough positive things about Dan and Definition Fitness. Dan will let you try the first workout free and I urge you to do it. You'll be hooked. I know I am!
