I'm happy to be the first to review this hidden gem. I ventured to this part of town eager to try a vendor at Netil Market listed in Time Out magazine. I was disappointed to discover not that not only was the vendor not open, but also that neither of the two vendors there were serving the public. No biggie, I thought, and headed to the London Fields Brewery. Also a no go, as they were closed for another two hours. Dejected and hungry, I headed back to the underground station. As I turned the corner, I saw two of my favorite words: Street Food.
Honestly, it wouldn't have mattered what they served me at that point, but I was delighted to find that the food was both reasonably priced and delicious. There were only two sandwiches on the menu: a roast free range chicken sandwich and a roasted cauliflower sandwich. Both were £5. I had the chicken. It had tomato chutney, pickled red onions, and tarragon mayo. So much flavor!
The staff is friendly and full of smiles. The seating is sort of like picnic tables, but with individual wooden crates as seats. The utensils and packaging are all compostable. The place is tucked under the overground line and feels like a cute little secret. I'm no longer disappointed in my trek to Hackney. read more
