Owner swore at my daughter for walking past store front (specifically, he said "get your g*d d*mn dogs away from the door" to a 12 year old girl), which is in a dog friendly area in a busy place with many dogs. Then, he swore at me, threatened to call the police, all while refusing to apologize for swearing at my child for walking past with dogs. This is the wrong business for this location, and the owner is ornery, hateful, and downright rude. Many people observed his interaction with me and my daughter, and some said they were offended by his actions. Really, awful place. Do not use this store. The owner is hostile and rude. If he makes a mistake, he refuses to own it. In my case he had a mini tantrum and ordered me out of the store. He's simply a miserable man who has filled the store with approximately 6 dogs and let both his own and the store's cleanliness standards sink to the point where it's become his personal, malodorous fiefdom - customers be damned. I should add that I'm 64 years old, cannot recall ever having experienced such an unpleasant store encounter, and have to admit that I was quite shaken for the rest of the day. I don't write many reviews, and certainly haven't enjoyed writing this one. But I believe this proprietor stands out as one of the worst and that the success of this store is purely due to it's convenient location. Caring for the community - while it is not the most glam or fastidious, Strays owner is serving as many in the community, local and afar, as he can. Local artists provide great gift options. He also graciously recycles (and allows customers to reuse for free) boxes and plastic packing materials. I can't imagine a more giving place. I will purposely take my items there even if hours not as convenient because it feels good to help support the one supporting our community and world so much. read more

Do NOT use Stray's shipping "services". This man complicated an order/ lost a package by shipping with the wrong shipping agency. I brought a package to Stray's to send via USPS (I did not know they had other shipping options). He sent the package via FedEx. Even after paying for the item, I thought the package was sent via USPS. [I should have just gone to the Post Office.] The package never arrives. I contact USPS. Nothing. No tracking ID for my package. "Oh, wait. Your package was sent via FedEx. Didn't you know you sent it via FedEx?" Where. Is. My. Package? I contact FedEx. FedEx has the package but cannot deliver the package to the recipient. Strays put their own business name in as the recipient. In turn, I sound like a criminal trying to steal my own package. Strays had to know he put his name in the recipient's box on the form...and guess what, FedEx has no way to override this in their system. This means that my package cannot be delivered...at all. It took weeks to get this straightened out. I had to write a letter to corporate FedEx informing them of the entire mixup, telling them the contents of the package, they had to open my box, confirm the contents, and shipped the box back to me. I never got reimbursed for the shipping costs AND I lost a corporate customer. read more

Come to mail your packages, but stay to browse the art, jewelry, stationery, accessories, and other cool local goods. Formerly called ShiponSite, Strays at Ship-N-Shop is so much more than a place to drop off your mailings or photocopy your tax forms. It also offers pottery classes, book readings, and works by local artists. Very cool shop/gathering place. It doesn't have a lot of signage to direct you, but it's between Bloom and H2O Cleaners. Look for the brown UPS sign in the window. read more

For the less than 5 minutes we were in the store, we had a horrible experience. We were visiting the area and I went in the store hoping to look at some local art. Unfortunately the owner was extremely rude to my two young kids and I. I saw the sign on the door that said not to let the dogs out, so I was careful when bringing the stroller inside. We went in the store and 4 small dogs immediately came up to greet us. The dogs were great, I pet them for a little while and they sniffed my kids in the stroller. My 5 yr old asked me if he could stand up and I said sure. The minute my son was off the back of the stroller the man behind the desk started yelling at us "no no no! you can't do that. He needs to stay in the stroller!"...we were all very taken aback. After all, he saw us in there for a while and he had plenty of time to tell us whatever obscure store rules we needed to abide by. He also could have easy conveyed any concerns of his without yelling at a potential customer. Of course, the second he started yelling, his dogs started barking. Needless to say, we didnt stay to look around and shop. I told him I found his behavior rude and to not yell at my kids. His response was to yell back "I wasn't yelling at them, I was yelling at you!" Because that makes it better...He then proceeded to tell me he didn't want my business and that his store is not a petting zoo. If he was so concerned about his dogs, then he shouldn't have them there. Or perhaps have them behind an exercise pen or fenced area, I can think of many solutions that don't involve berating customers. I left with him yelling at me more and calling me a nasty bitch. The store's computer system is very helpful to remember my shipping addresses and preferences. Shipping carriers, prices, terms and conditions are very clearly given, and the best and/or cheapest options are always given. Assistance with package preparation, taping, and labeling are spot-on, as are the prices for any necessary shipping supplies. read more

*review for shipping services and customer service only* I lugged in two rather large prepaid FedEx packages today and tried to thoughtfully time my drop off close to when I was told the FedEx driver stops to pick up items to be shipped out. After struggling to bring my packages into the store, the man at the desk told me that I was not "allowed" to leave them there because he had no where to keep them. Granted it is a small place but given that I was there about 15 minutes before FedEx arrived and given the fact that there was NO ONE in the store, I was shocked at the irritated way he spoke to me as well as frustrated by the fact that a FedEx sign was illuminated in the window yet I was told he couldn't hold them for pickup. The artwork and jewelry sold here is very interesting but I feel bad that the artists display their work in an establishment where such an unsavory individual greets people upon entering the place. I had some late minute Christmas shopping to do and the pretty earrings, bracelets and necklaces would have been perfect but I went to Light Years instead (after taking my FedEx packages to a competing shipping store a few miles down the road who has even less space to keep packages waiting to be shipped but were gracious in allowing me to leave them there and even helped me lug them into the store.) read more

I bring all my packages here. My recipients' info is saved so I don't have to hunt for addresses. The owner helps when I've done a poor job of taping. And it is *always* clear to me which carrier will be used. A huge bonus is the great artwork, jewelry and crafts. Great gift shopping. read more

I have used Strays many times, for shipping as well as shopping, and my grandchildren love to buy gifts for their parents, aunts, and uncles here because it is within walking distance of their house. However, today two of my granddaughters (who are very well-behaved preteens) went in to search for a gift for their father while I waited outside. Instead of being welcomed, they were told they must leave unless they had a parent with them. They came out very upset and said that they wanted to go home. After talking with them, I called the store's owner to try to find out what his policy on children is and whether it is posted in writing. He hung up on me (I was speaking in a normal, pleasant tone of voice, addressing him as "sir," and simply trying to find out his policy so that my grandchildren wouldn't be embarrassed in the future). I called back, thinking that perhaps we had accidentally gotten disconnected, and he hung up on me again! Hanging up on customers is not good business practice. The thing is that my grandkids have gone into the shop at least three times previously, bought gifts and cards, and were treated nicely. I don't know what happened today, but I walked them into the store, as usual, and was right outside the door the entire time. I would really have appreciated being given the courtesy of a conversation with the owner. read more
