Our tour started from Columbus Blvd and went through Northern Liberties and Chinatown! I was nervous to go in the streets in the beginning, but once I got my confidence I was enjoying the tour as well as the ease the we went through the neighborhoods! We were able to stop along the way for coffee and at several sites for a closer look. Adam has vast knowledge of the area and historical sites and was an excellent story teller. A nice little dose of park life tucked behind a library!…read more Even though I was more than familiar with the Luddington Library, the Bryn Mawr Gazebo park right behind it is something that I've overlooked for decades, and would have continued to overlook if it weren't for the incredible Bryn Mawr Summer Twilight Concert Series, where I've enjoyed seeing the likes of Hoots & Hellmouth and Vienna Teng perform. Beyond the concerts, this gazebo comes with a ton of park life amenities tucked within a tiny space. There's a playground for kids, a community building with public restrooms, benches to lounge in, elaborate greenery, and some hidden tennis courts. for a park so tiny it really works in a lot! The summer concerts really are the best part that has been going on for decades, and they have a passionate local following. Now that Rising Sun Presents has also stepped in to help with the booking, it has also ensured that some known acts blend into the local flavor.

I used to walk my dog through here, he liked the lush green lawn and I liked the benches. The real fun here is the summer concert series. They have shows through the summer with some great acts including Dar Williams, and this year one of my favorites, Hoots and Hellmouth. Tickets are cheap, you bring your own chair or blanket, picnic, and hang out on a nice summer night and chill to some good tunes. Most people BYO but you need to be sly about it. Otherwise the Ardmore Music Hall usually has some of their fine bartenders on hand serving drinks. Several markers adorn the trails so you can educate yourself while burning a couple calories. Enough trees for shade and enough water to hold our long gazes. Treat yourself to a walk. Lovely trail that's easily accessible throughout the Philly area, and it goes quite a long way…read more We've usually picked it up around the Conshohocken train station and bike either east toward Manayunk or west toward King of Prussia. Manayunk is a great bike-friendly area with plenty of spots to lock up the bike, whereas going west is scenic and great for just biking around. On the way west, one thing to watch out for is the sewage treatment plant as you approach Norristown - it stinks, especially in the summer! Beyond that point, though, there are beautiful views of the river as you continue on toward Valley Forge. Also on the way there, you pass by Port Indian, a charming little community that I don't know much about. Then, you can bike into Valley Forge or keep going to explore more. One of my favorite places to bike in the Philly area!

I ran the Racesmart Philadelphia race last weekend. Sign up process was easy, check-in was…read moreseamless, and getting started went off without a hitch! We were presented with our clues right on time and got started. Winning this race requires trivia knowledge, basic knowledge of the city, and not screwing up one of the clues and going all the way to West Philly for something that doesn't exist and costing yourself a cash prize (okay it was me). You compete in teams of 2 to 4 to solve clues and go to local landmarks to complete additional challenges (sometimes physical, but mostly silly and fun). Wait, did I just say CASH PRIZE?! Yes! My friends, you can win cash prizes in the amount of $250, $175, and $150 if you win, place or show! A great winners' prize, which made my accidental misdirection so much more frustrating. I would definitely participate in this team race/scavenger hunt again. I had an absolutely amazing time! As an added bonus, at the end of the race, we got some well-stocked finisher goody bags!
