Super cute! Have been following them on insta for a while but they haven't been open when I am in the area. Stopped in today for the holiday mini market, it was really cute! They have some awesome products here and it smelled amazing. I got a bar of eucalyptus cinnamon soap and I absolutely can't WAIT to use it! I love that they have vegan snacks here too!

Very cute store on the corner. Parking is a problem but enjoyed visiting. Their products are vegan and there are lots of soaps to choose from. They are priced at $10 or 3 for $25. They have products for men, jewelry and candles and facial products. A few little plants here and there and some paintings. There are also room most sprays and smudge sticks for cleansing the room. Worth a visit

I bought these two soaps in March 2020. I've used the eucalyptus one every day for more than two years to wash my hands at pandemic levels. I'm about to retire it and begin the next hand washing adventure. (I bought the brown so long ago I can't remember what scent it is and I can't detect through its subtly.) When I first bought them I cringed at the price. But I figure it's worked out to be a real bargain.

My new favorite soap shop! Hand made in house by some pretty amazing people. When you walk in, you are greeted by the aromatics. Aside from the soap, they have an array of local artisan made things by local artists. In addition, they have a fridge and food area that supports local vendors as well too. I purchased the Campfire soap, a limited edition bar with pine smoked lapsing souchong tea, vetiver, cedarwood and patchouli it smells DIVINE! Next time you are shopping for soap, definitely come check this place out.

If you want eco-conscious beauty products and love to support local businesses, check out Strawberry Hedgehog. Now. The local soap, facial mist, body cream, beard oil and deodorant line uses natural, vegan ingredients to create heavenly smelling offerings, which are cruelty-free. It was founded in 2007 by charming local lady Tracy Perkins and is sold in Whole Foods stores around Arizona, as well as online and in shops around the Valley and in California. After a recent visit with Tracy, I took home a bag full of goodies I'm sort of addicted to smelling. The packaging is also adorable, and the soaps are really pretty - like extra decorations for your bathroom. I'm absolutely in love with the Tea Tree-Rosemary Face bar, $9, with organic coconut oils, organic palm oil and natural herbs, spices and minerals. It's ideal for oily to combination skin, promoting antioxidant activity and includes invigorating peppermint and gentle exfoliating qualities. It smells amazing - probably the best thing to cover your face with on the daily - and really leaves you feeling clean and refreshed. I got two soaps - some Blueberry Lavender, $8, which is one of Tracy's most popular brands, and a Lavender Vanilla, $8, which has two of my favorite scents. They're both made with organic coconut oils, palm oils, herbs and minerals, and they work up great lathers that will make you never want to stop washing your hands. I also was treated to a Hydrating Mist, $10, a refreshing spray that is good for setting mineral makeup or to just cool off and add some antioxidant-filled ingredients to your precious pores. It contains tea, organic aloe vera and essential oils, and instead of leaving you oily, it helps to balance your hydration levels so you don't overproduce oil to compensate for dryness. As someone with oily skin, trust me, I love this mist! One of the coolest things about Strawberry Hedgehog is that there are "Soap Clubs" offered. Because the soaps are all made from vegan ingredients, they have a shorter shelf life than artificial stuff, so it's best to get them in smaller quantities. With the Soap Club, you get a unique new scent each month, and each bar lasts one person who uses it for daily showering about a month. The club starts at $30 for three months, which includes all shipping and handling. You're saving money on three bars, and you get access to seasonal or special scents. What a cool gift idea! The more you purchase, the higher the discount. Your skin is your largest organ, and accordingly, what you put on your body is just as important as what you put inside it. That was one of the biggest lessons I learned at Tracy Perkins' Beauty Detox 101 workshop at Strawberry Hedgehog natural body care shop in Phoenix this past weekend. The workshop provided lots of valuable advice when it came to being aware of the toxins your body ingests through products, with informative sessions covering ingredients to avoid and beauty myths to squash. Perkins is highly knowledgeable about the value of vegan beauty products. Perkins used to work at a major beauty brand before getting sick from their products. Now she creates her own adorable goodies, using natural ingredients with no harsh chemicals or toxins. Besides getting to know ingredients to avoid on labels (fragrance is a HUGE one), workshop participants were also treated to delicious vegan eats and tea, and we even made our own facial and body scrubs using essential oils. The two-hour workshop was so much fun, and we left with a ton of recipes to continue healthy beauty rituals at home. Perkins regularly hosts workshops on a variety of topics. Her next one, Saturday, April 18, is Essential Oil First Aid and costs $40.

What most don't know about me is that I am sensitive to most body/bath/ products and fragrances so I normally stick to what I know that doesn't give me an allergic reaction or headaches. My son was telling me about Strawberry Hedgehog and how I might like it, and I was honest with him and told him that the odds of me being able to stay a fragrant store are slim to none, I'm explaining this to you all because I am not the type of person who can just pick things up and smell them & touch them, but said ok let's give this a try! From the outside, the shop looks cute, and when we walked in, you are not hit in the face with an abundance of fragrant, so that put me at easy right away. Strawberry Hedgehog is such a super cute store; I need to come back with more money haha. Their hand soaps are crafted hand soaps that are vegan friendly, free of preservatives, chemicals & artificial dyes or fragrances and visually pretty. Before you knew it, I was touching, smelling, holding soap bars with no care in the world. We got a good deal on 3 bars of soap (3 for $25), 2 went with my son and I took home a blueberry lavender soap, its bright blue and has blueberry extract, tart lemon & calming lavender. I absolutely love this bar of soap; it is a firm bar of soap that will last a while. I am happy to have found Strawberry Hedgehog, now I too can get giddy with glee over fun bath & body goodies!

A lavender-y soap bar and a special concoction just for furry friends!

The purchase was a big bust, I returned it about a week later, and a different worker was there. I politely explained the issue and expected I would be offered a credit/refund/ or store credit in some reasonable amount. Instead, she was not interested in doing the right thing, was defensive, and said I was unclear about my complaint. My complaint was straightforward and clear. When she sensed that I was confused by her "argument," I just pivoted and said, "ok, that is a bad decision by you". Some people should not have front-facing jobs. They should work in a warehouse, communicating with software and forklifts, away from the public. This frumpy gal would probably be a great forklift driver. She has no business in customer service - she may own the shop, and that is even worse. That section of 7th Ave is full of nice mom and pop stores with nice folks = not Lotions & Potions. There are plenty of similar stores nearby - GO THERE!

Stopped in here to see if we could leave the plaza on a positive note and we certainly did. The store is filled with a variety of scents for you to sample and choose from to make lotions, roll-on fragrance and more! There are also some great body care options like bath bombs, and other accessories to choose from to make a meaningful gift for any occasion. I remember as a kid experiencing a smaller version of this in Santa Monica and much to my surprise my 12 year old chose the EXACT scent I loved then as well. Out of hundreds of choices she chose "China Rain"!! Both ladies working there are VERY knowledgeable about the scents and also what dupes they have for expensive fragrances you would find at commercial retailers. Their enthusiasm is a little intense but all kind spirited and for the love of what they do. I think this is a definite stop for individuals and families who appreciate body care and customization products. It's a fun way to explore making personal scented items, support a local business and take something home unique. Thanks to technology and the internet, you can even order anything online and have it shipped to you from their shop. For those who are scent-sensitive they offer unscented products as well. But if you're susceptible to sneezing like my father is, stay outside or grab a coffee across the street, while the rest of the family shops and has fun.
