AMBIANCE: Parking | All street parking it really depends on the time of the day, but on an evening, it wasn't bad at all. Seating | Seating for almost 30-40 people both inside and outside. You have a choice of casually lounging or grabbing a table to study. Feels | It's in the tip of an alley but not too much in the crowded city thus it's a pretty comfortable place to be around. The cafe itself is a pretty neat place. It does it's best to emulate a fancy hip coffee shop with it's art, music, and desserts. Great place to study, catch up with a friend, or simply read a book. FOOD: Chocolate Frappe (Recommend) I would look into their drinks rather than their desserts. This was sweet, milky and smooth. Usually drinks can be overly sweet or just filled with ice but this was a good one. Blueberry Cheesecake (I've had better) It does look like an appetizing cheesecake however I noticed they warmed it up. If you do request for it, I would suggest asking to get one from the fridge. CUSTOMER SERVICE: As a tourist they were pretty friendly. They were helpful and our food came in relatively quick. TL;DR OVERALL 3.5 stars. It may not be THE place to be but I appreciate it's efforts. The menu was creative yet unique, the vibes was chill, and the service was nice. It's a good place for Westerners to chill if they're feeling a little homesick. TIPS: * They got wi-fi here!

When in Rome, act like a Roman, right?…read more But once in awhile, it's kinda nice to have a quick taste of your "norm," even if it's just for a few minutes. Located on one of the busiest streets of Dagupan, Starbucks is a welcoming sight for sore eyes. After running a few errands around the area, it was a good stop to make for something cold and for a snack. Parking was a challenge. There are about 4 spaces up front that can be shared by patrons of all the other establishments in the area. We got lucky to score one of them. We walked in and I immediately liked the open and welcoming space. It was quite inviting. There wasn't a line, so we took our time putting in our orders. Now, I'll admit, a couple of us took a minute to make up our minds, but the cashiers were patient. They also suggested a couple of cakes and pastries. Now, I'm not a sweets person, and I usually just take a bite just to say I tried it, but gotta say the crepe cake was pretty damn good! Good enough for me to eat almost half of it! That, I would recommend. Free WiFi. Place is clean - clutter didn't last longer than a few seconds since someone was always around for immediate clean up. It's a good place to chill. Me likey.

But that was 4 years ago. While running errands nearby, we learned of our tour guide's birthday being the next day. We all collectively decided to let him pick where to have a small lunch celebration. And that's how we ended up in Café Angelo. Pretty open on a midweek lunch hour. Party of 6, we were all seated and given menus promptly. Complimentary fish chips (aka kropek) while we waited for our food. They have a vast offering of food and drinks. However, we ended up with the following: EGG DROP SOUP: Not too rich but seasoned well. It has a nice thickness to it. Great starter. PANSIT: Because you have to have this given it's a birthday celebration. Topped with a lot of fresh vegetables. Seasoning was subpar but nothing a little fish sauce couldn't fix. LIEMPO: Good crunch on the skin and tender and juicy inside. Great dip that goes with it. Highly recommending. GARLIC FRIED RICE: Nothing extraordinary. It is as expected. SHRIMP AND VEGETABLE TEMPURA: This set would have been perfect if they cooked it in newer oil. It had a slight "used oil" essence lingering with each bite. The dip did an okay job covering it up, but it's hard to not notice it without the sauce. KARE-KARE: I much prefer the regular uncooked alamang (shrimp paste) than the sweet one they paired with it, otherwise, this dish was PERFECT and delicious. Birthday boy was given a complimentary cupcake at the end of our meal. FOOD: 4. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 4. Not too bad for all that food we got. PARKING: Private lot. OVERALL: 4. They have weekend sushi nights I would love to catch. Hopefully it's still around next time I come through. Recommending!
