The only requirement we had is for the place to have AC. (I'll admit, we needed some relief from the heat and humidity!) Cuzzo came up with this spot as she confirms they have what Big Bro wants and their dishes have a little bit of twists here and there. "You guys should try it." She also boasts that our parents have also been here and they enjoyed their visit as well. So off we went! A few tables occupied, our party of four were seated and given menus immediately followed by a pitcher and glasses of water. (Kinda cool we didn't have to ask for it like we have had to at many places in the Philippines. We certainly needed it!) It's a nicely decorated open and high ceiling place. Plenty of room between one table to the next. Big enough to hold a private event as they also have a second floor. Since it wasn't too busy, we were tended to immediately and got our orders in swiftly. The wait wasn't long either, so yay for that! SHRIMP-PORK SHUMAI: The order came in 4 pieces, so it was perfect: one for each of us. It had the typical taste, nothing to brag about. Dipping 'em in the calamansi+toyo and chili oil sorta elevated the flavor but average at best. LUMPIANG SHANGHAI: Served in a half bottle of Red Horse beer, I thought it was creative. Plus I appreciate repurposing stuff! They're longer than the usual size you get at most restaurants. But like the shumai, it was nothing to brag about. It was good, but again, average at best. KARE KARE WITH BINAGOONGAN: This dish was very pleasing to the eyes! There was a lot of care putting the plate together. They used the sauce and veggies as base then topped with the fried pork belly. They did this to avoid the fried pork belly (which was lightly and crispy fried as well as seasoned well) from getting soggy. Brilliant! Veggies were lightly blanched fresh and adding the binagoongan completed each bite! This I really REALLY liked! FOOD: 3.5. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 4. PARKING: Private lots. Plenty of spaces. Shouldn't be an issue. OVERALL: 3.75. Cuzzos ordered Palabok (they pour the hot sauce over crispy noodles) and Batil Patong (I'm ordering this if there's a next time!) So yes, some of their dishes are quite unique. On my radar now for the next time I visit the homeland again!
