This place is great for pipe smokers. They have a nice selection of tobaccos at decent prices, and a good selection of pipes at various price points. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and the place just has a great feel. It's nice to go to a tobacco shop that's not just wall to wall vape and weed stuff. Highly reccomended. read more

There were two things that I miss living in my old stomping ground in Milwaukee. One was my neighbors. I miss them terribly. They were great folks that I had the pleasure of knowing. The second was Uhle's Cigar Shop on Wisconsin in downtown Milwaukee. It is a great place to go. It will always be in my heart. I met many friends there. They took a hit during the zenith of the pandemic just like most other businesses. So when the move to Kentucky ( Union/ Florence ) became necessary, some serious changes had to be made. There was nothing you can do about your neighbors. You can't bring them with you. The cigar "problem" was much different. You simply start searching. I found that with Straus Tobacconist on Mall Road in Florence. Now, just like I mentioned, the pandemic changed how business owners conducted their business and the environments that allowed you to enjoy a good smoke. They have a great selection. If you don't find what you want, they can get it. But again, the pandemic has caused a lot of delays with ordering and delivery. Be patient. I noticed little difference between ordering from a brick and mortar and from a company online. Obviously, I want to see what I'm buying before I smoke it. These folks are respectful, careful with your merchandise and friendly. If you want to start some problems?, DON'T!!!, you will get put out and you won't get invited back. The owners are older and they don't have time for BS. Don't go here if you think you can intimidate or push employees around. Leave that outside. You will pay the going rate for all products. If you want something like pipes and accessories, wait for the sales... they are more than fair and pretty good. The service is like I stated, treat them with respect and you will get it back. Straus has made it easy for me to get my products to allow me to enjoy a good smoke. Whether it's a cigar or a pipe of good tobacco...you can't go wrong here. The plus for me is that they are in close proximity to my home. That's a plus and worth the trip. I spend about $70 to $100 a week each time I go there, the money is well spent. They still haven't opened their lounge yet ( they closed it down during the pandemic ), you have to take your wares from the premises to enjoy them right now. When they do open up the lounge again, I will be there. Five Stars!!! read more

They understand customer service. We had not been there for a year or more because they didn't carry the candela wrapped Fuente that we like. But we noticed they had moved to another location on Mall Rd., so we thought we would check it out. It is a much nicer layout. The smoking room is very nice. And the best thing, they now carry the candela wrapped Fuente. He even asked me what size we prefer. He'll order it for us and have it in a week or two. Awesome! We not only will be back, we will also be telling our cigar loving friends. read more

When I moved to Florence I knew I would miss my cigar shop. So, I wandered aimlessly until someone recommended Straus Tobacconist. As I walked in the environment, it all resonated -everything- I wanted from my shop, large humidor, someone to greet me but not be in my face and a great selection of fine cigars. I can't complain about the cigar quality at all. There is nothing worse than getting home and cutting your cigar to find it old and dry. You won't have those problems here. As a long time customer, I've always been impressed with the care and consideration Straus shows its customers. There is ample/close parking and a great lounge where customers can relax. Free wi-fi, great coffee and a knowledgable staff. There's a great cultural cross section of customers and the staff are helpful and considerate of the experienced as well as the beginning pipe or cigar smoker. They provide old school customer service with classic products and trending new items. It's obvious from the greeting you receive, to the spacious lounge, to the tremendous amount of "regulars" that frequent Straus Florence that this is a business grown with their customers in mind. read more
