It's a very large restaurant with two floors. The lower level is a pub but serves the same menu with the exception of the pub daily special. The menu is vast and I was happy to see a Gluten Free section as I am celiac. My husband had the shrimp Alfredo and I had the Maple Salmon with mashed potatoes and veggies. My veggies weren't very warm and I should have asked for some gravy. The portions were nice size. We had a glass of wine each and our spend with tip was 105 CAD. read more

After a second day in Dinosaur Provincial Park, we began our drive back to Calgary. On the way back, we stopped to eat at Strathmore Station in Strathmore. Very nice train based decor. We actually dined off the senior menu tonight. My wife had the meatloaf with mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables and I had the lasagna with meat sauce. I dined with my wife and brother at Strathmore Station yesterday evening. It's a nice steakhouse type atmosphere in this small community east of Calgary. The food was very good. We started with calamari and pulled pork potato skins as appetizers - both quite delicious. For main course my wife went with her standard beef dip, while brother and I each went with steaks. Large portions. Our steak dinners came with a generous and tasty salad, potato, and grilled vegetables (carrots, golden beet, asparagus) - all quite delicious. Great food and nice atmosphere, my only criticism is that we were not even close to finishing our appetizers and salads when our main courses arrived resulting in an awkward shifting of plates, moving appies to main course plates due to limited table space. Better timing from the waiting staff and kitchen could have made for a perfect dining experience. read more

Horrible service, dirty dishes and seating that's falling apart. I went there twice in a week Recently and both times had poor service. 1st time waitress wasn't even in the same area as us and brought us food then 45 mins later came back. My order was wrong but nobody even looked in our direction. My glass had detergent on the side. 2nd time we waited 10 mins to be seated. A girl bussing tables finally noticed us standing there. Her reaction made it clear this happens frequently. Our booth seat had a 1/4 of the padding and material worn and torn away. And it's clear it's been like that awhile. While waiting for our check the manager, I'm assuming had 6-10 friends or family stand at the entrance. They were having a good time, and that's all that seemed to matter. The food was good, and decent portions which is the only reason we didn't walk out and I gave them a 2nd try. The irony was there was waitresses and staff all over the place. Yet they're in their own world and don't even look at you. I had to get up and walk to the bar to ask for some ketchup as well. I haven't been there for a few years before these visits, and it might be a few more before I even try it again. Nothing like being disrespected and ignored while spending hundreds and being patient. Loved the decor, history of old C.P rail historical memorabilia, and stories of past! Service was great, forgot our servers name but she was very nice and polite. Food was good, awesome burger was loved by all that had it(3) people I had steak sandwich, not the greatest, veggies were cold and I wasn't fond of steak, but my hubby had a bite and said it was good. The burgers are huge so bring an appetite or share! Prices are fairly expensive $9.00 for dessert and 22.00 for my steak sandwich so be prepared! I hated my sangria it had slush in it and to me that's not a true sangria but again my hubby liked it and it did say slush on menu, I just didn't notice!! But it was a nice evening out with our friends who just moved to Strathmore!! read more

Wonderful brunch spot with tons of options, and a nice standard menu. This place has tons of charm and is really fun, with mostly excellent service. This is one of our regular spots in Strathmore, and has easy access from the highway for those passing through. Make sure to make a reservation if you want to have Sunday Brunch on a holiday (Mother's Day, round the Christmas holiday, etc)! I'm happy to check out this town and this restaurant which is new to me. I ordered a belgian moon and the fish and chips. The belgian moon was served as soon as I got back from the washroom.. the food was out in literally 5 minutes from my order.. and Amanda my server was super fast and polite. Just recalibrate from what I read in a past review, theres absolutely nothing wrong with the uniforms: the waitresses look great and stylish. The fish and chips was perfectly done. If your coming for the first time to The Station in Strathmore, AB you are going to love it. I've been going to this restaurant for 16 years now and they haven't really changed the menu much in all that time. For this reason I can tell you that I've tried almost everything on their menu. There is nothing that I would steer you away from. All their fountain drinks are free refills and the servers are excellent at making sure that they keep your glasses full. There are some staples that are just awesome if you want to make the trip out for an afternoon or evening. Have the burgers, they are soooo good! The quesadillas is a nice light meal if you're not really hungry. If you are, have the maple or dill salmon, choo choo chicken or the steaks! We are in beef country and The Station steaks are fabulous. Even their meal salads are full of deliciousness! Oh and save room for dessert....rice pudding, apple pie, cheesecake, chocolate brownie...not just one either! If you come out on a weekend, the Brunch at the Station is Legendary!!! Soooo many choices! And the decor is fun too. Made to look like an old train station. Very cool! read more

I'm back to update my review from a couple months ago. Unbeknownst to me, after our less than ideal service the last time we dined here, my wife had gone onto the I Love Strathmore FB page to comment about our experience here. Apparently the management reached out to her and convinced her that we should try them again. I'm quite pleased they did. We managed to be child-free for the evening thanks to his awesome grandparents, so when we went back we decided to try the 18+ bar seating area in the lower floor. The difference between the service between our first visit and this one was like night and day. We had someone bring menus and take our drink orders within a minute or two of sitting down, the appetizers we ordered were out in less than ten minutes, and the pizza our server recommended was wonderful. We definitely over-ordered though, but that just made for two tasty meals of leftovers the next day. Unlike the first time where we felt basically ignored, the service was attentive without hovering, and it seemed like that for everyone in the area, not just us. Pretty certain we'll be back lots over the coming years. read more

This used to be our "go to" place after a day in the city. The food and service used to be amazing. I'm not sure if it's changed management but after stopping here last Sunday we won't be back. The service was slow and meals came out staggered and the food was terrible. Very dry and tasteless. I didn't notice the prime rib that used to be on Sundays. Came in for a mid afternoon snack after the rodeo.... BRUTAL from start to finish. The nachos were so stale we could barely chew the chips. We would've complained to the waitress but she never came by to see how our meal was. No refills on our pop or water. The Caesar salad had leaves the size of my head...poorly dressed. Just no pride in what they brought to us. Finally, after 25 mins she comes by to offer us dessert. We complained- no visit from the manager or sincere apology...but did take $14 off our bill. This place is guaranteed to disappoint you every time. There's always something be it slow drinks, mixed up food order, uncooked food, poor service every time. I've been there with big groups and as just a couple. Different seasons, days of the week, times of day, dissatisfaction guaranteed every time. We give it another chance once or twice a year and it's a poor choice every time. The only time it was good service was in the pub. Probably cause we were already tipsy and only had two drinks each. All the items on the menu are way over priced. The only good deal here is to go for someone's birthday dinner. They eat free if your meal is of equal value and they get desert. read more

Great service and very good food. Nothing fancy, but it tastes great and the portions are large. We got fantastic service from our waitress there tonight (Marnie). Every time I saw her she was smiling, she was very fast, and took the time to check on all her tables. The food was good, hot, and came out quickly. There is a pub downstairs and a restaurant upstairs. There is tons of seating (especially with the new area that was added in their recent renovations). This is surely the best restaurant in Strathmore and worth a stop by if you are on the TransCanada and you want a good meal. It always has a bunch of deserts and they all look fresh. I typically have a steak but I have enjoyed the clubhouse with real turkey as well. I have ate here a number of times but most recently I had the 16oz rib eye steak. It claims to be the best steak I will ever eat. Sorry to let you down but this didn't even register in the top 5 steaks I've ever ate. However, it was pretty good and I will go back. The garlic mashed with gravy were pretty good and I quite liked the strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream. This is a pretty good restaurant. read more

Caught the Sunday Brunch with the family, and left with a full stomach and a very happy family. The buffet has a wide selection of good quality foods for $20 per person, which is a deal considering how much my boys can pack away. There is everything from breakfast items like bacon, sausage, eggs benny, an omelet station, and French toast to roast beef, shrimp, salmon, chicken and all the salads, veggies and sides you could want. Did I mention the huge dessert selection? The place is licensed, if you are so inclined, but I was driving so I had to lay off. If you are waiting to get to Calgary to eat while driving on hwy 1- DONT DRIVE BY Strathmore Station& Pub. Calgary doesnt have many restaurants that serve edible food - you'll be disappointed and probably most likely get food poisoning in Calgary. The Strathmore Station and Pub is amazing, the chefs are obviously in tune with running a proper restaurant. The menu is quite diverse to suit many age groups and cravings. They know their food, and make it there - basically home cooked meals. I actually ate the best chicken wings I have had in ages since Hooters left Calgary. Another at our table had the beef dip - excellent. And another plate was a burger - excellent. last one had a salad - home made dressing, fresh hand cut salad greens - excellent. I think we are going to start driving from Calgary to eat there when we wish to go out. Servers work very hard as well, very professional. The building is a Canadian Railway museum basically, clean, they spent a lot of time and money on the building the pride shows in the food and in the ambience. 10/10. read more

We ordered the Philly Cheese Steak, the Fish Tacos and the Cowboy Burger. Philly Cheese Steak was an abundance of steak, mushrooms and onion stuffed inside a homebaked roll. The meal came with fries and homemade au jus. It tasted exquisite and was an amazing meal. The fish tacos were a duo of basa and topped with guacamole. Although enjoyable, were missing the flair. The cowboy burger was incredible. homemade patty topped with smoked gouda, lettuce, tomato, bacon and a large onion ring. Pleasant decor was train-themed and service was excellent. Arrived late Sunday afternoon and were immediately seated. Service was timely. They soup and salad arrived very quickly and were very tasty. Perfect size for first course. My wife and I ordered the fillet mignon. The meals arrived very promptly. My steak was supposed to be medium but was medium well. Other than that it was very tender and tasty. My wife had a perfect medium steak. We both enjoyed our meals and will return another day. read more

Oh The Station. Three years ago when we moved here, we heard the rage. It's a local favorite. A landmark, even. The building itself is unique and pretty cool. Our train loving son is in love with the ultimate train decor throughout the multiple levels. There's even a dining car in the restaurant that you're sometimes lucky enough to be seated in. If not, there's many many other lovely areas. There's also a pub downstairs and an outdoor patio. We've been several times, with many different people. We always go with a new, optimistic outlook and give it chance after chance. And then we are disappointed (and this sounds super negative and as though we are hard to please! But check out my other reviews - I'm a pretty positive person, and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt) time and again. Mostly we've been for Sunday and/or Mother's Day brunch - always with parties of 5-9. At best, it's too salty and lukewarm. At worst, there's nothing in the trays, people are tripping over each other, and/or everything is cold. On our most recent visit, we waited 7 minutes for the hostess to acknowledge us, 12 minutes for a drink order (during which time we chose our lunches and at that time requested we order immediately), another 15 minutes to order food as the server was new, or something, and not allowed to take our order. By the time our orders came, the four tables seated after us had ordered, been served and were packing up. We were not happy. They comped us our drinks and issued a excuse-ridden apology about it being someone else fault. There are apparently four floor supervisors on at all time (according to the one we spoke to/our some time server) but none seemed to be around. And if they were also doubling as the only servers, then they were disorganized and confused. It was really unfortunate. On the plus side, a few months ago, I had the very best fish and chips I've had in a long time here! read more

The food was terrible, pricey and cold. Service was bad and amateurish!! The server carried 3 plates in one trip and didn't seem to care when I mentioned that the underside of one plate was resting on the bottom plate and the plate was resting on the food. The server blamed the stairs and not their inability to keep the plates and food safe while being carried to the table. Items were unavailable on the bar menu and food menu. Condiments, dressings and seasonings were only made available when asked for. A side order of chicken for a salad was missed and billed for (but was remedied when pointed out) and food was poorly prepared. 4 potato skins for $16.50, like seriously??? You take a potato worth $1 cost add a $2.50 garnish of pulled pork a little cheese and then it becomes $16.50 worth of food?? Definitely a poor experience overall and while restaurants deserve support post Covid, I am left to wonder at what cost to the diner experience? Was passing through Strathmore on my way to the Rockies with my family, and we stopped based on reviews on yelp. Great casual atmosphere with pictures of the history of the CPR everywhere. Our meals were about $14 each, which was a excellent value because of the quality and quantity of the meat. My burger was one of the best I've had. read more
