OG Taco / Totchos
Chandler P.

Strange Taco Bar gets a solid 3/5 from me... and honestly, that's on me. I walked in expecting the kind of tacos you'd get from a gas station taqueria with a lady pressing tortillas by hand and a salsa that could make you rethink your life choices. Instead, I got the $2 Taco Tuesday special and decided to "sample the classics"...chicken, ground beef, and pork. Big mistake. Each one was drier than a group text after a bad joke. I ended up baptizing them in verde and hot sauce just to make it through. Now, the Totchos... completely different story. Crispy, cheesy, loaded with flavor. If the tacos were a misstep, the Totchos were the redemption arc. That bowl alone almost saved the meal. The ambiance was chill though... relaxed vibe, clean tables, cold Coke Zero, and a playlist that made waiting out my food slump bearable. The staff were kind and easygoing, no rush, no attitude. Moral of the story: don't show up trying to recreate your abuela's kitchen when you're clearly in a modern taco bar with craft beer and mango jalapeño margaritas. I'll be back... next time for drinks and something truly "strange."

Chips and queso. Queso great chips yuck so so hard!

It had been a minute since I've been here and they were kind enough to send me a $5 birthday coupon, so I decided to go on what I remembered to be $3 taco Tuesday. Young lady at the counter was very personable and told me that the only tacos that were $3 were the OGs which were chicken, pork with pineapple, and barbacoa beef. Well I didn't want those so I ordered what use to be my favorite fried green tomato with feta only now I think it is goat cheese so definitely not as tasty as I remembered and a Cajun shrimp that had 3 shrimp that the life was cooked out of them! Didn't bother to eat it. Also, got a chips and queso for $6.25 and the chips are so hard that I thought my partial might break! So took my queso to go and left the chips. The music was still great and the staff still friendly but man the food isn't at all like it was I'm sad to say.... even after using my $5 bday coupon and $4.24 cash reward from toast that's been in my account over a year my total was still $12.54 including a $2.77 tip! Way too much for half eaten food IMHO. Doubtful that I'll be back.

What a very interesting place oh and name. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was very clean. This was my first visit here and I was happy the menu was easy to understand. Although I'm not a taco girl this place was pretty good, with its unique twist on tacos. I ordered the San Antonio and the Al Pastor tacos and they had a pretty good taste to them. The tacos are small so you may want to order a few. We also ordered the street corn which has a unique flavor as well.

The daily special, Curry chicken taco, the OG with Grilled chicken and the Steak and Queso.

Strange Taco Bar in Lawrenceville is one of those places that immediately makes you wonder why you waited so long to try it. The space itself is swanky in a relaxed way, cute, well decorated, and open and inviting without trying too hard. From the moment I walked in, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and somehow already knew exactly where my to go order was, which felt like a small but impressive win. The restaurant was spotless and the parking lot deserves its own shout out. It was a decent size and easily handled my honkin big truck without any awkward maneuvering or silent prayers. That alone earns points. Now let us talk about the food, because wow. Everything was made exactly how I ordered it and tasted incredible. I went with three tacos and each one brought something different to the party. The daily special curry chicken taco was bold and flavorful in the best way. The OG with grilled chicken was classic and perfectly executed. The steak and queso was rich, savory, and downright dangerous in how fast it disappeared. The flavor profiles were spot on across the board and each taco held its own. Ordering online was quick and painless, which made the whole experience even smoother. Between the great food, friendly staff, clean space, and easy ordering, Strange Taco Bar absolutely nailed it. I will definitely go back and will continue to regret not trying them sooner.

Owner or manager was nice and the girl that took my order. Food was great and drinks were ok. I wouldn't order that spicy tequila drink again but I'd definitely come back to try something else.

Always a reliable preshow establishment befor a show at the Aurora! Quick service, delicious food and a chill vibe. Seating is inside or outside depending on the weather. Will be back before my next show!

Coconut Cajun Shrimp Taco, Nashville chicken taco, fish Fried Mahi Taco

Food was good 4/5. Service was fast, place was clean and nice setting. One thing sucked, the Guacamole was not good, the chips were nice and hot. Also the Nashville Hot chicken was not hot at all it was only honey sauce on it, what happened to the spice? I would return though, good cheap eats.

Buffalo (red) and Mushroom (black) tacos

Came here for a quick bite and was not disappointed. The chips and queso were average, but the tacos were on point. I particularly liked the mushroom taco, although the buffalo taco was not bad either, but not as unique. Basically tasted like a buffalo chicken wrap you'd get at any sports bar. Service is standard fast casual. Inside there's a little spunk in the decor, but it basically feels like a fast casual place.

Love love love love this place! I came here on Taco Tuesday and loved the kind service and the easy sitting and menu. This place is very chill and easy going. The margaritas were just okay, but a great addition to the tacos. The tacos were definitely the STAR OF THE SHOW. My favorite was the taco Al pastor, the pineapple was the perfect addition to the taco and the shrimp taco was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised on the tastiness of the tacos with it only being $3. 10000/10

This place has been on my radar and I'm so glad I finally got a chance to try it! This is very similar in aesthetic to Velvet Taco so if you're a fan of non-authentic tacos you'd really enjoy this place. There is such a wide range of taco options ranging for pescatarian, vegetarian, and even some vegan options which is very commendable for a business. They're solid options too, not just bland boring options. Portabella Mushrooms 7/10 -- decided to try a veggie taco bc the description was just that enticing. I actually really enjoyed the taco and I loved the goat cheese edition. I could actually see myself trying this meatless option. Coconut Shrimp 8/10 -- cannot go wrong with a coconut shrimp option! The pineapples and sauce complimented the taco very well! Southern Pork 9/10 -- this was hands down my favorite taco! Perfect combination of sweet and spicy! Ordered a strawberry frozen margarita. Not strong at all but it was still pretty good to sip on, especially for $8. I think next time I come I'm going to try their 9% canned vodka for the same price.

Quick service. Great tacos. Strong, yummy margaritas. Cute little place with enough seating to eat in.

Fried green tomatoes, steak and cheese, Buffalo chicken tacos

Been by this place so many times and didn't realize it was even there. I finally decided to check it out. Like the name implies they have some unusual tacos. I had the Buffalo chicken, steak and cheese, and fried green tomatoes tacos. I also ordered the chips and queso. Overall everything was tasty. I will say of the 3, my favorite was the steak and cheese. The chips and queso is a huge portion. Seating is a mix of indoor and outdoor, not a lot of either though. Parking is a bit limited too as it shares a very small parking lot with foggy bottom.

I had the BEST MEXICAN dish I'd ever had and I'm still talking about it weeks later. I did not spend time reviewing the menu. I told my server what I wanted and I got exactly what I requested and it was TOP NOTCH! Started with rice, covered with queso, then grilled chicken/steak w/peppers and onions and more queso. The meat was grilled to perfection. The steak was tender. The portion size was so much I took the leftovers back to my hotel and ate it cold for BREAKFAST! I was not wasting a single bite. Not at TLH, but PERIOD. It was that good. (I'll have to think about it a bit, but it's definitely in the top 5.) My single complaint: it wasn't hot. It was warm, but not hot. Didn't make it any less wonderful, but I would have liked it a little warmer. The meat was perfectly cooked and lean. The green sauce was extremely tasty. The rice was nice and buttery. The green beans with onions might actually have been the best thing on the plate, or maybe I was just in the mood for sautéed green beans. For my appetizer, I picked esquite, which is basically Mexican street corn (elote) cut off the cob. It came "separated," meaning that they didn't mix it together; I got a HEAP of corn, some mayo, some crumbled cheese, and chili powder, and mixed it to my own favorite ratio. I didn't get a picture because I was too busy eating it. Server was very attentive and I didn't have to wait at all for anything.

Our server, Brandon was top notch!! The smoky salsa was an unexpected standout--so flavorful that we kept going back for more. And the Texas Trio fajitas were incredible! They came out sizzling, flavorful, and loaded with everything you want in a great fajita meal. I was disappointed to learn they were out of tea in the middle of the day, so I ordered a mocktail instead. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the restaurant. Brandon only came to our table about three or four times during our entire visit. He never brought us plates for our appetizers, water, or eating utensils. Our food was delivered by another staff member, which is understandable, but we still had no forks or spoons when it arrived. My sister eventually had to get up and ask for utensils, and she also had to go to the service window to request water because no one brought it to our table. As our server, Brandon was simply not attentive and didn't seem engaged with us as customers. I love Tacos & Tequilas and visit the Poncey location two or three times a month, so I know the level of service the restaurant is capable of providing. This visit was a major disappointment based solely on the customer service. Despite the lack of attentiveness, we still left Brandon a generous tip. I truly hope this was just an off day because the food and atmosphere were fantastic. I would definitely return, but I hope the service is much better next time.
