First time here, been hearing a lot about their party nights so the girls and i finally decided to pop out and try it. I first wanted the salmon & the pulpo but were out of both unfortunately. I really wanted to try those but ended up getting the aguachiles instead. They were very decent, spicy level was truly a zero and i really like mines spicy. The bottom was fulllllll of onions but decent amount of shrimp for $23 (i think) Cute scenery but maybe because we went late, it was empty and very quiet. The food is pretty good, but the service is lacking. The restaurant was burning up inside when we arrived. We were about to leave but then we asked for air. It seemed to cool down a little. The hostess looks at you like she's wondering why you are there until you ask for a table. The rest of the staff is pleasant enough, but they move with no real pep to serve you. Before you can tell them all that you need from them to complete your meal, they are running off. So you have to keep grabbing someone else that is running by. The restaurant seems sleepy with no energy. They also don't communicate well. Ordered a dish specifically because it had shrimp. The dish arrived when no shrimp. Apparently the restaurant had no shrimp, but that information was not offered to us until we asked why it wasn't on the plate. Based on these things, we won't return. The lemon pepper wings are tasty, but would have been better if they were hot. Overall good food, but not worth the mediocre service. read more

I was so excited to try the guacamole here with the beef chicharon on top. I'm so sad to say it disappointed. The churros were even stale and almost tasted like they had sat for a while then had been reheated and covered in sugar and sprinkles. From everything I bought here, the chips and queso is the only thing I'd get again. Visited 10/12 and won't be returning. Food is good but service is terrible. These people are crooks and it's sad when it's your own people. I spent $145 and 3 days later I saw it was $295, I immediately called to get this obvious error corrected and since the beginning all I'm ever told is "the manger just stepped out call back in an hour or two" I've followed up a total of 12 times since October 16th and every time it's the same thing. They take my name, number and last 4 of my car number and assure me a manager will call me back to get this error sorted. Ownership needs to look into the people they hire 6 month update: reached one of the owners(Esteban) and he told me he in fact saw I was charged $150 extra and said he was going to reach out to his "POS" (this was in January) and 3 months later I still haven't received my refund. I guess the bartender that overcharged me got all the training they needed from ownership. Nothing but crooked business read more

This place is OK. We came in early on a Friday and the place looks nice, but they store their supplies in the hallway which does not go at all with the decor of the place. This tells me that management has stopped caring about making a good first impression. The food is average Mexican food, but from the other reviews, maybe it was better when they first opened or we just got in on a bad night. I liked the "rooftop" patio but feel like there should be a better way for people to come in and enjoy seating without all of the stairs (what if someone was handicapped?) & I don't recall seeing an elevator. Food: My son had the kids cheese quesadilla w/ fries - I think this was tasty and it came out pretty fast. The agua Fresca was so delicious, I wish it was of bigger size. I ordered the steak & guacamole bowl - it came with (2) purple soft shell tortillas but I swapped it out for hard shell. I think this dish was filling but lacked extreme flavor from steak to guac, unfortunately. Next time, I'll try a different menu item - the menu seems like it has a lot to offer. read more

I've heard mixed reviews about this place and was finally able to try it out myself! I got the sopes and all thought I'm not usually a big fan of the purple tortilla, I will say these were good! I enjoyed the meat that came on them I got 1 pollo 2 asada next time I for sure will only be getting the asada lol not that the pollo wasn't good I'm just more of a asada girl. The martini was good I loved that they don't only offer cocktails with tequila! Our server was very sweet! She was very attentive and prebussed everything for us as we finished! This is what you call "A good TIME" This place is a great addition to the already GREAT downtown Lawrenceville area. Anejo is hot and Poppin, the rooftop dinning really elevate things a bit more. The restaurant is beautiful, the drinks are beautiful, the dinning experience was very nice and the food was delicious. Our servers were very efficient and accommodating. Please try the molcajete dish, filled with meats, onions and cactus in this yummy sauce. Parking can look like a problem at first, but check the backside of this building. Anejo is excellent!!! It is a unique gem that Downtown Lawrenceville really needs and I am so glad to see it growing. They opened on New Years Eve so they are still developing vibe, but already it is a great concept with amazing drinks and food. They are coming out with a dessert menu next week. I tried a couple of different cocktails and they were all good. I highly recommend, I think it was called the Sunset DTL (Raspberry flavored) and the Paloma is amazing too. I also got to try the skinny margarita and they use fresh juices so you can tell the difference. Jesus is an excellent bartender! The music was upbeat ambient which is my favorite. Food wise we tried the chicharrons with guacamole, chicken mole, and queso. My coworkers got some tacos and they said the tacos were excellent! I am hoping they fix the signage at the front, because it is hard to see the Anejo sign, but it is located right next to the Alley way and a couple buildings over from Local Republic. Also, Jamie the owner is super nice and easy to talk to. He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great time here. Jamie also owns both D'Floridians. One is also in downtown lawrenceville and the other one is in Woodstock. Our server Melanie was also excellent and made sure to check on us frequently. read more

This place left a lot to be desired, both in terms of food quality and service. The queso had a very watery consistency. The chicken quesadilla was bland and closer to room-temp than hot. The only flavoring on the fajitas was the overpowering taste of char from the grill, no seasoning whatsoever. And don't get me started on the fact that this is first Mexican restaurant I've ever been to that doesn't offer chips and salsa for the table!! Not even as an appetizer option, I mean come on?! The service was also subpar. In the roughly hour and a half that we sat on the patio, our server Andres came by our table a total of four times: 1) to take our drink/appetizer order, 2) to take our food order, 3) to bring out our food, and 4) to bring the check. Our waters went un-refilled the entire time and I only got a refill on my Coke after flagging down and asking the waiter. We went on a Monday, not many tables, so "being too busy" isn't a valid excuse. Especially when we saw nearby tables frequently getting checked-on by their servers. Overall, a very underwhelming (and borderline disappointing) experience. We won't be coming back. The only reason I didn't give this place 1-star is because the rooftop patio was a nice place to sit and the music wasn't too terribly loud. Añejo is our latest restaurant experience in Mexican Cuisine, and what a great experience it was!!! We came here to celebrate our son's 23rd birthday. The restaurant dining area is situated entirely on the second floor. So if you can score a patio seat that means you will have a rooftop-like view of the Lawrenceville Square, which is especially cool at night. Even cooler, they have live music on the weekends. The food is pricey for Mexican food and so are the drinks. However, my dish was absolutely delicious. For starters we ordered: CHICHARRON DE RIBEYE | $21 Fried ribeye on a fresh bed of guacamole and served with fresh tortillas. Nicely seasoned, but I do wish they would have added something else in addition to the guacamole. (4 stars) CHICKEN FLAUTAS | $10 Not on the dinner menu, but they made them for us nonetheless. Included rice and beans (4 stars) ELOTE | $7 Fresh corn with mayonnaise and queso fresco. Good, but could have been better. (3.5 stars) Our entree's included: RIBEYE TORTA | $13 Topped with beans, lettuce, tomato, queso fresco, avocado, mayonnaise, and jalapeño. (4.5 stars) SOPES | $16 Three homemade fried corn masa sopes topped with your choice of meat, refried beans, cabbage salad, sour cream, quest fresco, and avocado. My wife debated heavily over this dish or the vegetarian tacos. Overall her review of them was "good, but I've had better." (4 stars) ENCHILADAS DE POLLO | $20 Three shredded chicken enchiladas with mole, guajillo and tomatillo sauce topped with pickled onions, pumpkin seeds, avocado, sour cream and cheese, served with rice. My son devoured them as if he were starved. (4 stars) BRAISED SHORT RIB | $32 THIS IS A MUST TRY DISH! Tender and slow roasted in Añejo's own agave broth. I fell deeply in love at first bite! The broth alone is so full of flavor I was tempted to lick my plate clean. So satisfying I doubt I will ever be able to try anything else on the menu! IF I can force myself, I may give the TAMPIQUEÑA (skirt steak) or the COCHINITA PIBIL (slow cooked shredded pork loin) a try someday, but I'm pretty certain I'm gonna be hooked on the Braised Short Ribs at least for the next 5 visits! LOL (5 stars) For a celebratory drink we tried a $15 smoke infused tequila cocktail called Sexy 92. If I'm being 100% honest, I didn't enjoy it at all. My son enjoyed its uniqueness and our server said it is extremely popular, but I just can't understand why. (2 stars) FINAL THOUGHTS The BRAISED SHORT RIBS are an absolute must try. The RIBEYE TORTA was also excellent, so excellent in fact that we ordered one to go. We enjoyed the fact that it is shaded & covered so you are not in the heat. The light fixtures are gorgeous and make almost a jingle bells sound as the wind blows through them. It's wonderful to have an authentic high end Mexican place in downtown Lawrenceville! I've now been to Añejo twice, and absolutely love this hip, stylish bar and restaurant with one of the best rooftops around. The food is delectable - both times I've gone, the folks I was with were in sharing moods and I've been able to try several items. Highly recommend the chicken mole and their old fashioned! But after our only 3 shots taking exactly 22 minutes to come it , I went to the host stand to ask for a manger if they could maybe help out my party who wants to spend money . When I confront the bartender about passing something off that isn't CHEAPER than what we asked for she says that she was gonna ask us later . Not only is she short handing who ever owns this business but is showing their true colors . I also witnessed her adding herself a tip of $10s to everyone tab that she rang up .
