It may actually be a strong contender to dethrone my current #1 matcha spot in South Bay I arrived with the full intention of trying their coveted banana matcha latte, but had to pivot to try their seasonal melon matcha latte once I saw it on the menu. Amazinggg flavor! The matcha was creamy, earthy, and just strong enough. The melon flavor was so well executed in this drink and you definitely taste the melon notes right away, which was delightful. It was refreshing and fruity without being overpowering. Best way I can describe it is like a honeydew Melona ice cream bar melted into a matcha latte. My friend got the double matcha guava latte with a guava cream top, which was delicious and tropical, but we both agreed that the melon matcha latte was the standout by far. I'm already planning when I can go back for it before they switch out their seasonal drinks! We came on a weekday afternoon, so there wasn't much of a line at all. It's a relatively small space for a coffee shop with limited seating/tables inside, but they have a cute little outdoor seating area with benches. I presume it would get pretty cramped on busy weekends, so I'd say it isn't really an ideal study cafe, but you could definitely make it work for a little solo study sesh and they have free wifi. There are metered parking spots along the street that I didn't have an issue finding nearby. Important note: they don't take cash.

Our drinks took 15-20 minutes to come out. Also, they lacked the difference in taste and we couldn't tell apart the difference in orders. The Vietnamese iced coffee was horrible. It was so dark and bitter and left a really strange aftertaste. Though I will say the matcha guava was really good. The cream top tasted like fresh guava, and it complemented the matcha very well. That was the only redeeming drink here.

They decorated well with their merchandise and beans. Loved that they explained the coffee bean processing types so that people can see and learn. I've been coming to Chromatic ever since a friend introduced me to it, and after several visits,…read moreI've realized that the experience here is about much more than just coffee. Every time I walk in, the baristas take the time to ask questions about what I enjoy, how I like my coffee, and what flavors I'm looking for. They don't simply take an order they guide you through the process and genuinely seem passionate about helping customers discover something they'll love. It's clear they care deeply about coffee and creating an experience rather than just serving another cup. On my most recent visit, I came in looking for espresso beans. I was originally interested in their Gamut espresso blend but was also searching for something on the darker side. The cashier recommended their original espresso blend over the darker roast options. While it wasn't exactly what I had in mind, I trusted the recommendation because everyone I've interacted with here has been incredibly knowledgeable. A few minutes later, while I was waiting for my order, a gentleman approached me and asked, "Would you like to try something a little darker?" Of course, I said yes. He proceeded to pull a fresh espresso shot of their Opus roast and walked me through the flavor profile. It was exactly what I had been looking for. What impressed me most wasn't just the coffee it was the hospitality. He went completely out of his way to make sure I found the right coffee for my taste. He explained that they didn't have full bags of Opus available yet because they were still in the roasting process, but then generously offered me half a bag so I could pull a few shots at home for myself and my family. I've worked in hospitality for over 10 years, and this is the kind of service that truly stands out. It's the definition of going above and beyond to make a guest feel welcome and cared for. What really stuck with me was that after I tried the espresso, he came back and asked, "How was the finish on that shot for you?" It wasn't a casual question he genuinely wanted feedback and wanted to know if the coffee delivered what I was looking for. When I told him it was exactly right, he seemed just as excited as I was. Coffee can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when you're trying to learn more about different roasts, origins, and flavor profiles. Chromatic does an incredible job of making that experience approachable, personal, and enjoyable. They aren't just serving coffee they're creating meaningful experiences and tailoring them to each individual customer. This level of hospitality is rare, and it's why I'll continue coming back. Highly recommended.

About 6 months ago I made a switch from the convenience of my Keurig to buying quality beans, grinding them myself and make proper Americanos instead of popping in a pod and pushing a button. I've done a lot of experiments with beans and so far I haven't found better beans than the beans I pick up from Tico Coffee Roasters. I really appreciate to have roasters of this quality in my neighborhood! Coffee is like wine, the better the quality is, the less you need. I used to go through 4-5 Keurig pods every day, but I'm plenty fulfilled by 1-2 cups of coffee made from Tico's beans. So even though it seems like I'm paying more for coffee with Tico, I'm not. I highly recommend you to try Tico's beans. They have amazing deals through Too Good To Go if you are looking for a deal to try it out.

I order a cappuccino and tried their coffee of the day: Sanger de Toro. To begin, the drip, tasted very smooth with a slight acidity, but not too much. The cappuccino with a base of Rialto had the bold, dark chocolate, and rich taste that was advertised, and the foam was fine to perfection. It's in an industrial area with car repair shops, so if you're in the area for that, it is definitely worth checking out; it is also worth a special trip for. The service was fast and friendly. And the ambiance was a coffee stand outside of a coffee brewing company

I tried the Honey Black Sesame Latte, and while I wasn't sure I would like it, I ended up loving it! The flavor was super delicious, and went really well with the espresso flavor. We also ordered the avocado toast which is made on a Japanese milk bread slice. The seasoning toppings were super interesting and yummy, just maybe would have liked a bit more of the toppings personally. I really liked the larger menu of super unique drinks and definitely will be coming back to try a couple more that caught my eye! Parking can be tricky, but, luckily, we snagged a spot right in front of the doors. Walking in, every table was filled with people working, talking, and hanging out. The staff were busy yet friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Honey Black Sesame Latte with Oat Milk and my partner got a drip coffee. Our order came out in less than 10 minutes, even though there were many orders ahead of ours. I found the digital system to be interesting to watch while I waited for our drinks. My latte was very tasty and balanced. My partner's drip coffee was okay, nothing to write home about. Overall, nice coffee shop experience. Not sure if I would go out of my way to try it again, but it is worth it if you're in the area!

They had some Fanime specials for the con (katsu and egg salad sandwiches, spam musubi), seasonal drinks, of course coffees and teas, and non caffeinated drinks, as well as some food too (heated up pastries, both sweet and savory). There's a restroom with a code and a couple seats and tables with outlets to charge your devices. Service was welcoming and efficient especially after the crowds started to pick up. I got the: 1) Egg Salad Sando: -You can tell these were handmade in store. They had cute washi tape to hold the packaging together. -Solid egg salad sandwich. Slightly sweet white bread and generous amount of egg salad inside the sandwich. Creamy mayo taste that isn't too sour or tart, lots of egg in it. Perfect for an anime con next door. 2) Cappuccino: -I got this no sugar and sugar free and it came out with some pretty latte art. I thought it was mostly ok and boyfriend thought so too, but after several sips and when it was too late since we really had to get to the con, it just became too disgustingly sweet for him and he had to throw it away. 3) Yuzu Fresh Fruit Sparkler: -Yuzu puree with sparkling soda water. -Refreshing and not bad, but even after mixing this was a bit sweeter than what I would have liked and again, in our rush to leave, we couldn't really get this adjusted. I ended up pouring most of it in a water bottle to enjoy later and put in my bag. But ended up not finishing it in the end. Maybe next year I'll try again or just stick to the food stuffs.
