Food was absolutely fantastic! We have been trying to explore more restaurants in the city and this is absolutely a must try. The pizza is insanely good and insanely fresh- you can tell they make the mozzarella daily. The service is great and the have the option to pay and order via QR which is so nice. Service is quick and the atmosphere is gorgeous! read more

Stracci Pizza - pizza and wine - Pizza Near Me - Alexandria, Virginia

This place is truly spectacular! I haven't written a Yelp review in a few years, but I needed to break my silence to sing the praises of this fabulous restaurant. I ordered to go, online, in advance a full order of: Marinated Gigante Beans (with focaccia bread), Meatballs, Marinated Heirloom Tomatoes, The Stracci Pizza, and The Nico Pizza. Literally every single item was a showstopper. The marinated gigante beans were swoon worthy. Rich and salty and fatty while also light? On fantastic focaccia? Brilliant. The meatballs were so tasty and fluffy, but the cheese they put on top actually stole the show a bit. The marinated heirloom tomatoes? Just stop. If you, like me, spend the year craving the perfect Summertime heirloom tomato, you will LOVE this dish. Those tomatoes should be on a billboard. And the pizza? Well, let me tell you that you'll never be so glad to see char on your pizza! So flavorful and delightful. My favorite was the Nico, but the naturally sweet, fresh tomato sauce on the Stracci was fabulous. I would suggest adding ricotta (my favorite pizza topping) to the Stracci, but that's just me! Anyway, this place is truly stunning. It's in a casual setting, but they're really doing some refined food here. I can't wait to go back! P.S. - while the pizza was the best on the first day, everything reheated nicely and was still good on day 2. read more

Grain of salt to take: This is my first time trying Roman pizza, and I think it's just personally not my cup of tea. The pizza size could feed one very hungry person or 2 lightly hungry ppl. We had 5 folks, 3 pizzas and about 1/2 a pizza left over. Roman style is unique! There is a lot of crust, that had a nice crisp bottom and is pretty crisp through out - which I think makes it read like flatbread and less like pizza. We tried the brooklyner which comes with sausage, pepperoni, their very soft cheese, a smidge of hot pepper and there was honey on it, but I never got a bite where I could taste the sweet. The cheese is almost watery and very mild. I appreciate the difference here, but it just wasn't my thing, didn't read cheesey. They have rotating specials, which is fun. We got the caramelized onion and bone marrow. The onions were cooked nicely, very sweet. I've never had bone marrow before so I can't compare but I think it definitely added a huge savory component. Our third pizza had some nice notes of garlic and oregano. I would definitely encourage ppl to give this place a shot, it's just not what i'd personally go for when I want pizza. read more

This is seriously the best pizza in northern Virginia. Their fig and prosciutto pizza, which is a special they serve during the Summer, is my favorite pizza of all time - never had any better. I dream about it. Every pizza they serve is delicious, the gigante beans, meatballs, salad, focaccia appetizers are all awesome. The straciatella cheese they make in-house is unbelievably good. Highly recommend. New favorite restaurant. read more

Most Amazingly Delicious Food! Ordered Caponata with focaccia while waiting for a table. Caponata was delicious, tAad on the sweet side, but so good. Drinks: very helpful and friendly barkeeps who also help with appetizer/ bites while you wait for table. Positive energy. Salad and Side: Fig and Gorgonzola salad was phenomenal--get this while fresh figs are in season. Perfect dressing, hazelnuts, well, everything. Pizza and dessert were phenomenal. Wish they were open more other than dinner, but worth the wait. Noise level inside is quite loud, but a lively happy atmosphere. Overall, food is the very interesting and delicious. I look forward to returning! read more

A worthwhile indulgence: "The Brooklyner" featured pepperoni, sausage, stracciatella, ricotta, Calabrian chili, and honey. At $18, this isn't your entry-level pizza, but neither is the crispy fermented crust, house-made stracciatella cheese, artisanal meats, or even packaging for that matter. The pizza and Italian sodas were standouts, while the Marcona almond tart was tasty, but not rave-worthy. Overall, I would be a happy return customer. read more

Don't miss Stracci! It's not your typical restaurant in all the right ways. The food is outstanding, top-notch ingredients, and a friendly, engaging staff. The hostess puts you at ease immediately. It gets busy, but it moves quick and is 100% worth the wait. You order online; however, it's easy, efficient, and the wait team can help. I know, deep breath, trust me, you'll be fine. They make their own cheese and this effort transforms Stracci's menu. We had homemade Focaccia, meatballs and three of us ordered our own pies. We ordered sides of stracciatella and sauce with our Focaccia. Absolutely delicious, perfectly baked. The meatballs were outstanding. They were not dense, had a great blend of meat, and perfect texture. The sauce and generous shavings of parmigiana reggiano was a nice touch. One side note, they use garlic masterfully, the right amount and perfectly thin slices. While everything is tremendous, do NOT miss the pizzas. Stracci serves Roman style pizza, think brick oven, rectangle shaped, crust, but extremely light, with perfect blistering. The dough is a home run. The oldest son ordered the special, Mortadella and pistachio pesto. My other son chose the classic Stracci. I ordered the Stracci white and added sausage, onions, spinach, and garlic. All of them had the homemade stracciatella .I tried the special and it was special. Unfortunately, my son inhaled his Stracci, so I didn't get a taste. He rated it one of the best pizzas, a classic. Although they have a full bar menu, we opted for special sodas and sparkling water. We ended our night with mini chocolate cannolis and a fig and plum tart with homemade ricotta. it was beyond expectations and, believe me ours were high based on the food we had enjoyed so far. The ricotta was rich and creamy, the fruit flavorful, and the crust buttery with a nice texture. The dessert had the perfect level of sweetness. The mini chocolate cannolis were everything you want in a cannoli. BTW, they go by a much cooler name...cannolo? Great food, great staff, great atmosphere - Stracci gets 10-stars. The ultimate compliment? On the way out, my son said, "We should celebrate my graduation here." He's a senior in college and has dined well, probably too well, for a college kid. It's the highest praise since celebration meals in our family are reserved only for our favorites. read more

Absolutely loved the pizza and the atmosphere here on a Thursday evening. We ordered the Erminia and the Brooklyner. The crust was perfectly crisp and everything tasted really fresh. The chiles on the Brooklyner were super spicy but my husband loved it. The staff were all very friendly and the pizza came out pretty quickly. Loved everything and we'll definitely be back. read more

Been here a couple times. Really love the unique location tucked into a neighborhood. They truly made it feel like you're not in NOVA. Both times we got our orders to go. Staff is always friendly, place is clean and you can feel the passion that goes into this place. For a Roman style pizza it's as good as it's gets for the area as there is only a handful of options in the DMV. While all the ingredients are high quality, made with love, it is over priced for the size. While eating the pizza in the parking lot a long time customer asked how we liked it. We told him it was top notch & delicious. Then his reply was "but it's over priced right"? He said it's so expensive I eat half today and half the next day to trick myself into thinking I got my moneys worth. All and all I do enjoy it a lot. I would come more often but I just can't justify paying the high price. My hats off to the owners. I just love to see people who take their passion for a craft and turn into a success story. I will be back soon to try a weekly pensa special. read more

This is a very special restaurant. For Pizza Night we got two pizzas, a tiramisu, and a loaf of bread from this place and had no idea what we were in for. First, their Roman-style pizza is better than any pizza I had on two trips to Rome (which is saying a lot). Granted: the bottom crust is aggressively charred & chewy, which isn't for all tastes, and which admittedly makes the pizza less suitable for casual, slice-after-slice binge eating than the average NY thin crust. My jaw was a little tired by the end of the third slice. However (and this is a BIG however), the context matters: the charred, crispy crust makes for the perfect contrast with the unusually light, bubbly bread above it. The sauce is bright and addicting, and mozzarella is homemade. This is also the most visually dramatic and attractive pizza in the DC area IMHO, with a kind of rustic-but-refined grandeur. And more: their tiramisu may actually be the best I've ever had. The liquor note--either absent or overdone in most renditions--is perfectly balanced. And still more: the loaf of bread (a very fair $6) might be the best I've had in Alexandria. Throw in the fact that the kitchen is literally a truck and this place is basically flexing on every other Italian restaurant in the DC area. read more

Everything is on point here. The pizza, salads, sides, desserts, cocktails...everything is done well. It's one of our favorite places to have a meal. If you have 5 people or more, you need to make a reservation. The place is small inside, with more tables outside. The word is out and this place fills up, so plan accordingly. It's worth it! read more

Ordered take out on our way into DC and it did not disappoint! Delicious pizza, crust was fantastic!

We went for V-day and the chefs menu with wine pairing was top notch! Highlights include the truffle pizza, homemade focaccia, roasted oysters and my all time favorite salmon crudo. We felt transported into a European country walking into the restaurant and greeted by all of the staff who went above and beyond to make this culinary experience one of a kind! The ambiance is warm and inviting. Tucked away from the busy Alexandria waterfront with ample parking makes this such a great location too. read more

Yummy pizza, fantastic meatballs. Good cocktails amd good service. Inside is a little loud, but not too bad.

Best pizza I've ever had... period! Also, the focaccia is delicious! And the meatballs and the caponata! Just go!

Originally I received a gift card for this place. So we decided to try it every time we want to eat out I say can we go to stracci? The service is excellent, no matter what you get the food is all amazing we love the meatballs, the pizzas are all incredible, and it's a cute place both inside and outside on a nice day (just be sure to wear bug spray). read more

I can't emphasize enough how good this place is. Easily the best pizza I've had in the DC area, possibly some of the best I've had anywhere. I'll just focus on the pizza. The other dishes are superb and should be tried but it's all about the pizza. Two things make it stand out above the rest. The crust is somehow the crispiest I've had on the outside but also the softest and fluffiest at the same time on the inside. I prefer this so much more than the Neapolitan style that's more common as it usually gets soggy pretty quickly. The second differentiator is their homemade namesake stracciatella cheese. Melts beautifully without ever being in the oven with great flavor. I can't wait to see how this business grows over time and hope it becomes a cornerstone in Northern Virginia and the DMV for years to come. read more

This is one of the best restaurants I've tried in a long time. At first glance the menu Is more limited than many but EVERYTHING is so good! The Heirloom Tomato app was to die for! The pizzas are so fresh with handmade mozzarella and just the freshest ingredients. Our group tried three desserts, all were delicious! I have to say the Olive Oil Cake was my favorite! Straccis has seriously upped the pizza and restaurant game in general in Alexandria! read more

Roman pizza is my favorite type and Stracci does it so well! We ordered three different pizzas and they all were so flavorful. I enjoy pizzas that are not smothered in cheese and Stracci artfully places the perfect amount of handmade cheese. The cheese tastes amazing too! This place could be my top two favorite pizza places in the DMV. If I could leave one critique is that they should try to avoid burning the bottom crust. Having some mildly burnt crust imparts bitter flavors and carcinogens that I'm not a fan of. Overall, incredible ingredients on a fluffy crispy crust! read more

Update: they now have several picnic tables available for "patio" dining at the trailer. We went for our fourth visit this evening and tried the white pizza, which my wife wanted. I've never been a huge fan of white pizzas. So I can't imagine what crack cocaine these guys put into this pizza, but it was almost better than the usual red-sauce pizza we usually get. This pizza is not only the best pizza in NoVa, it's seriously some of the best pizza I've had in my life. read more

not that Stracci needs another 5 star review, but they really are worth the hype. I get at least 3 orders of their homemade focaccia every time we come in. have been here probably 8+ times and it's always delectable. the meatball is insane. our family from out of town raved about it for days later. i love getting an extra side of straciatella to put on the bread, meatball, pizza, etc. very delicious! service is great. love the QR code to order to make things fast. they stay consistently busy and don't take reservations unless you have 5+ people, so if you come on a weekend, prepare to wait. they do make it cute + comfortable while you wait with their outdoor standing tables. they allow you to order drinks + a couple apps while you wait as well! corking fee is only $20 which is nice if you want to bring a bottle from home. however, Tuesday-Thursday they have half off wine bottles!! i am someone who used to not like pizza at all (like, from ages 0-24 i really didn't care for it at all) and now i absolutely love it (when it's Stracci ;) or another authentic Italian place). give it a try! read more

Worst tasting pizza I've had in years. They got the order right tho, I'll give credit for that at least.

This pizza is delicious. I've never had honey on pizza and now I'd likely never not have honey drizzle on my pizza. The Brooklynder was a hit! Was too hungry for my phone to eat first so I have no pictures to show. read more

My husband and I have ordered from Stracci three times now and I must say that it is hands down the best pizza I have had in the DMV area! The ingredients are so fresh, the flavors work perfectly together and the crust has the perfect crunch. Our favorite pizza is The Brooklyner. We have enjoyed also trying other things on the menu such as salads, breads and desserts. Many menu items are seasonal and/or rotate so it's fun to try something new each time. We also had our first in person dining experience at Stracci this week. They now have tables to sit and also sell alcohol. It was such a relaxing experience to sit outside with the string lights. Highly recommend for so many reasons!! read more

"Why is that place so famous when my pizza took more than one hour! Seriously, one hour!" So said our disappointed young daughter on the walk back home from this restaurant close to our home. The pizza was good, and so were the appetizers. But the service was exceptionally lame, and this ruined our experience. We sat down inside, and ordering was only through QR codes or at the counter. We were the first customers to sit down inside the restaurant and ordered drinks and food by phone via QR code. After waiting for 40 minutes without so much as receiving a drink, or anyone coming by to refresh our water, we went to the host stand at the front and asked where our drinks and food were; we were told the ordering system had been down and that they had been trying to figure out the orders for the last 40 minutes; this had affected several tables. Why didn't they just send someone to our table to ask us what our order was, the old fashioned way, we asked? "We don't have waiters," they said flatly. Clueless, lacking in common sense, not customer-centric. After receiving my pizza after an hour, I asked for a bit of olive oil. Was told I needed to put in an order via QR code or at the counter. Nice. One hour in, we still did not get our drinks. It took 70 minutes for our daughter's pizza to arrive, and 85 minutes for my father-in-law's to arrive. We heard "thanks for your patience" countless times, but not once that someone was on it and planned to make it right. Good pizza is not enough when the service sucks. Just get take out. read more

We did LOVE the pizza but the expensive scallop special was WAY too small of a serving. The scallop was about as thin as a wheat thin. Also, our biggest concern of the whole night at a sit down restaurant, was that we had to scan and place our own orders, and pay via a QR code which takes away from facetime at your table. This is important to us. They have waiters who are essentially bus boys bringing water and the food from the back but when we tried to order from them, they informed us we needed to use the QR. Which is not our style. We prefer to spend as little time on our devices as possible when we are out with a group. Again, the pizza was amazing but if this is important to anyone else like is was to us, you may find it rather annoying. read more

Best Roman style pizza in the DC area. Wish their place was larger so we could eat there more often.

This might be the best pizza I've ever had. It's either on par or surpasses the local Pupatella recipe. Now I've really got to hand it them, they have the most delightful atmosphere -- it's elegant/classy. Yet, the prices are fair and reasonable. I really don't know how they do it! It's simply one of the best restaurants in the area by a large margin. And it's a bit of a hidden gem too, tucked away in a semi-residential area. If you blink you'd miss the turn.. but trust me on this one, you won't be dissatisfied. This is an easy 10/10. read more
