My bf and I dined here on Halloween for a treat. We came here earlier in the week, but the waitlist to be sat was 2.5hrs and they closed takeout, so we left. I'm glad we came back a couple days later. The pizza was totally worth it! It was our first time trying "Roman style" pizza. I ordered the Straccietella pizza. The crust was fluffy, light and crunchy, and the cheese was gooey and salty. My bf and I are big fans of Pupatella and Crust Neapolitan pizza in Northern Virginia. Stracci's is definitely on par and added to our favorite list! read more

Easily one of the best pizza places in the area! We sat inside, which is really nice and intimate, and there's also a ton of outdoor seating. Ordered the meatballs, bread, and eggplant dip as an appetizer (all outstanding), and got a few different pizzas to share. So hard to pick my favorites because they were all fantastic! The pizza is thicker (sort of like a focaccia pizza) but the slices are small. Service was great and everyone was very welcoming as well. We will absolutely be back soon! read more

Stracci pizza truly is Italian quality. After putting our names down for a party of 3, we waited an hour and a half to be seated so I'm very glad to say that the quality of the food was well worth the wait. We stopped at the bar for drinks as we waited, and then I devoured my stracci. What sets them apart from other pizza places in the area is their high-quality and fresh ingredients. The interior is very cute and there are several outdoor tables and heaters for chillier nights. read more

Stracci did not disappoint! Tried this little gem based on our neighbors recommendation. No reservations for small groups so we arrived around 6 and were told to expect a 30-40 minute wait. We ordered cocktails and settled into the outside waiting area, but before our cocktails arrived a server was letting me know we had a table. We got settled in with some menus and our drinks arrived. All ordering is through a QR code, so you can pace your dinner and drinks how you want. The staff is still present and attentive throughout your meal. Groups of 5 or more can do a set family style meal which looked amazing. We started with the focaccia and meatballs (both amazing), then the Johnny Za Za. All were sinfully good (we considered ordering a second pie but were delightfully full with just the one). Topped off the night with a tiramisu and espresso. Will definitely be back. read more

Did carry out last night and ordered 3 things: Meatballs: so salty they were inedible - so so so disappointing Rosemary Focaccia bread: very good/best thing I got Gigante Beans: good flavor but maybe just not my thing. The place looked cute and I def went based on the high reviews but my experience just wasn't great w the food. read more

Hands down, the best pizza I have ever had. The stracciatella was everything. I had never had that before and it was so good. We arrived just before they opened and the line was all the way down the block. The service was quick though. And the restaurant wasn't too loud but romantic setting. read more

We found this place because it's walking distance to my brother's apartment. We went there for a family night and loved everything we ordered. The staff is super insanely nice and friendly. It's a family owned placed run by a couple and their friends and you immediately feel that as soon as you walk in! We took our friends their as well and they happened to have the truffle pizza which is my all time favorite! They always end the night for us with a little shots of mizcal. The only thing I wish they would change is their ordering system. I think they now have enough business to have more staff or just get a better app so we don't have to go to the counter a bunch of times. read more

Excellent! Simple menu with delicious offerings made from fresh ingredients that are carefully paired to satisfy your pallet. We arrived right when it opened and we're seated immediately. There were easily 30 people in line ahead of us at 4:55. They offer a tasting menu if you have at least 5 people in your party. It was just two of us and we started with the sourdough focaccia and let me tell you it was outstanding! Chewy, tender and served with olive oil and we added aged Parmesan and chili peppers and wow! I wanted more however we opted for their meatballs which were simple and satisfying. Unique texture and not too heavy on the gravy. Outrageous! We followed it up with the pizza topped with homemade cheese and oh my goodness. The crust was crunchy and chewy and amazing! It was a bit cold where we sat so bring your sweater to keep you warm. Not complaining considering it was hot outside and the pizza oven was roaring. Our server was helpful and pleasant. I imagine that you need to make a reservation for a larger group. They take reservations for 5 or more. If you want a simple, delicious and satisfying meal, march right on down there. You won't regret it! I can't wait to go back with a group of friends to try the tasting menu! read more

The food was amazing and delicious! The service was excellent as well. We will definitely order food again!

Best pizza in the DMV. But, perhaps even more of a highlight, were the Rosemary Foccacia and Meatballs. Truly the best I've ever had. I've been telling everyone about Stracci!! I love supporting a local place that long-ferments their pizza dough, makes their own cheese, and sources their beef from a 100% grass-fed farm. Thank you, Stracci!! read more

The Brooklyner. Pepperoni, sausage, stracciatella, ricotta, Calabrian chili, basil, and honey. I still cannot believe how much we enjoyed our pizza from @straccipizza?! I am a die hard Chicago Deep Dish Pizza fanatic and usually do not care for most other pizza variations. But since my other half adores pizza, I have been trying to get myself excited about pizza... After our first visit, we swore we would be back and luckily the stars aligned and we were able to go back tonight. We have tried a variety of @straccipizza offerings and while they are tasty, our current crush is The Brooklyner!! Did I mention it comes with my favorite Calabrian chilis?! The main difference in any pizza is the crust and @straccipizza makes a surprisingly light and airy thin crust which is crispy and delightful. Definitely worth the drive to Alexandria VA. We will be back very soon @straccipizza!! Dog friendly outdoor patio seating is greatly appreciated so we can enjoy our pizza hot and fresh out the oven!! read more

I saw this on TikTok and had to try it. The pizza was good, and a little different than regular pizza with the use of a different kind of cheese that has a soft Stracciata type of cheese. The crust is crusty and delicious as well. It's not wildly different than anything else I've had though, and the pizza is pricey at $18, I could probably eat 3 of these no joke, and I'm not a big eater. That being said, the service is really friendly, and the pizza is good, but one won't fill you up, at least it did not for me. read more

Excellent pizza. Tastes better the next day as leftovers. The wait for carry out can be long though.

Really good pizza but just not worth the effort. We tried to get a seat at 5:10pm (only 10 mins after opening) and it was already a 45 min wait. I did order takeaway once but they have only a limited number of pickups per day and it's on a first-come-first-serve basis beginning at midnight. I can't recommend this place to anyone when places like Frank Pepe's or Pupatella are nearby and are far more accessible. read more

I walked in and ordered takeout... the brooklyner and their special peach-za sooo good. As I waited I had a lemon cello type martini, (dont remember the name) everything was so fantastic. For me it's a tippy top choice for pizza places in the dmv. I can't wait to come back to actually sit down for dinner. read more

They ferment the dough for (72) hours. It's shareable for two people. * Olive Oil Cake = (3.25) pretty dry, but shareable. Desserts is one area they could improve upon. read more

Randomly stumbled upon this spot and was not disappointed! Its so close to my house that I'm disappointed in myself for not having gone earlier. See my ratings below: Ambiance: 5/5 - Really inviting ambiance that also feels fancy at the same time. I was intrigued by the outdoor decor with the setup they have and inside is also nice. Price: 4/5 - Standard for this area. By no means did I think I broke the bank for two pizzas, but definitely was not cheap either. Food: 4/5 - I had the Brooklyner which was a very good pizza. I recommend this if you are going there. I felt the portion was a good size, but I wish there was a hint of sweet or spice on this pizza that would put it over the top for sure. Service: 5/5 - The bartender who took our order was super friendly and patient with us. He was very welcoming and even with the busy time, he gave us his attention to make sure we got what we wanted. read more

A new spot in Del Ray, you say? You know I was there! This pizza spot has been open for about two months and is operating out of a food truck parked in the lot of what used to be Emma's. I had the loveliest chat with one of the owners and she mentioned that they're working on permits to do outdoor and indoor seating--so look out for that hopefully coming soon! For now, you order ahead online and pickup from the truck--a perfect COVID-safe arrangement. Onto the 'za. We ordered The Stracci (essentially a classic margherita) and a build your own with their signature stracciatella, honey, and pepps. The drive home was TORTURE it smelled so good! They're doing a high hydration dough for the crust and it was honestly perfection. So chewy and light--and if you are producing pizza crust without a little char, do not speak to me. I also really appreciated that they put the basil on the pizza AFTER baking it. There is nothing worse than browned basil! Easily the best pizza I've had in a minute. read more

BEST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD, no question. This is such a cute little place! No to mention their pizza is incredible. If I could've eaten the entire thing in one sitting, i would have; and believe me, I tried. The toppings are fresh and that crust is oh so yummy. If you're in the area, it's a must try. Awesome pizza. Great thin, crunchy but chewy crust. The toppings were artisan and unique. Believe me I'm 68 and have eaten a lot of pizza up and down the east coast. Amazing neighborhood pizza spot. The ingredients are fresh and it's truly the best pizza in the DMV! Love the owners and staff!

Amazing pizza, probably the best in Del Ray. Great spot when it's nice outside, and the service is top tier!

Cute little place with a delicious pie. Very delicious pizza. Very loud and tight space. Dissatisfied with the QR system overall. Seemed as though employees were working hard (overworked), so the customer has to do the ordering. They did have a walk-up counter service option, though not practical for the space and crowds the night I was there. The pizza was outstanding from the crust to the sauce and cheese. Would return, but probably would out eat there outside in nice weather or get take out. read more

It's like pizza on focaccia bread. You'll either love it or hate it! I love this, but knew what I was getting myself into before I went. Another friend of mine didn't like the pizza, but she doesn't like thick crust pizza. You need to order a day in advance on the weekends since they sell out. I've never been in the restaurant and only ordered take out, but the staff on the phone was friendly. I like the pizza with hot honey on it best. read more

I would say as far as the ambience and aesthetic not really anything special to it. I waited for about an hour with my friends to get a table. To be fair I went on a Saturday night so, I have no complaints there. The pizza just simply put was nothing special at all the flavors didn't combine well the sauces on both pizzas I got lacked flavor. I got the Stracci and the 3 cheese and chovy pizzas. The cheese on the stracci pizza was wet and not cooked much and the sauce was this watery tomato sauce. The 3 cheese and Chovy had pesto, ricotta and anchovies and it simply didn't mesh well. The ricotta I will say tasted good. The crust on both pizzas were solid but all the slices lacked in consistency and some were less cooked than others. It wasn't worth the wait, I'm here to save you time as a lot of people just go with the hype on Yelp and leave good reviews for the sake of it. But I'm here to tell ya it's nothing special save your time but of course try it out on your own if you wish. Signing off-Ish read more

While the pizza was good, the clientele and staff felt elitist and pushed ordering food at "a sit down restaurant" on an app. When asked about the option of ordering food the traditional way (with the waiter) and paying with cash, we felt demoralized and met with contention by the staff. We were being spoken down to and made to feel like what we asked was such a foreign concept, loudly and in the presence of all the surrounding tables. A few of the other customers at nearby tables also voiced the exact same concerns to other staff. If you are going to be a restaurant, act like one! read more

Wanted to try something new on my trip to DC and I had never tried Roman-style pizza, so might as well live! Absolutely amazing!!! Cool vibes, great staff, and I pulled the trigger (after a hot tip from the server) on getting two pizza's (pretty much personal-size) and tiramisu. Top five pizza and tiramisu was at least in the conversation of the best I've ever had. Try this spot, promise you'll be happy you did. read more

Yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy. Actually my new favorite pizza. I did not expect that to happen when visiting DC for the first time.

January dry cocktail menu was exactly what I want all restaurants to do for their mocktail program. It was empowering to have mocktails that tasted complex instead of like sugar. Pizza and appetizers were phenomenal. read more

I am by no means a pizza expert but have been eating for a long time. These Roman pizzas, the stamp of approval from the Italian pizza mafia or using water shipped in from NY does not impress me. If it tastes good it's good and Stracci was bloody great! Lovely, crisp n chewy base, the right amount of sauce and quality toppings. Our pizzas were 'pickup' but we had to wait a little longer because the owner wanted one to be redone because he was not happy with it and did not want anthing inferior to leave the store! If you haven't go give the place a shot. Nice, relaxed, casual neighborhood vibe. read more

Let me go directly to the pizza. The size is perfect for adult, and definitely can share with two people. We love the stracci pizza, which simple but extremely tasty. Also, you MUST order their meatball. It was so damn good. I wish they come with at least a piece of bread. The hostess were friendly (kind of cute) and noticed them very busy through out the time during our dinner. Next, let talk about the beers (a little $$$) and cocktail. For $14 old fashion, it was perfectly mixed and right on the spot. I was so full that I didn't get a chance to taste the Tiramisu (another reason to return). We were lucky to get a table inside the restaurant which kind of cozy and with some music. The only reason that missing the start was the "QR" code order. As customer, I hate to enter credit card information on a website. Sorry, I just don't trust many restaurant online website (Mostly run by third party) and the website don't take American Express, too. If you not there where they open or toward to the end of the night. You are expecting to wait for 30 mins or more. So, if you run into large party before you, then ... maybe just change to order out : ) read more

The food was amazing! I think the brooklyner is by far the best pizza! The focaccia bread was so soft and crispy on the outside, 1 order has 3 slices cost extra to get the olive oil dip. The meatballs...wow! It was so soft and tender and had so much flavor the tomato sauce was so simple and it complimented the meatball so well. Service was great, they made sure to stop by our table pretty frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. It's a small space but very cute interior, it's not super loud. read more

One of my favorite pizza places in the DMV. Ordered ahead (2 hour wait) Great ambiance for dining in!

Wow! Is all I can say. Did I kill my diet for the week, possibly the month? Yes.... Was it worth it?? 100% yes and I'd do it all over again. We started with some warm focaccia and an eggplant appetizer, meatballs, and chicken liver mouse (something I would have never tried but honestly it was my favorite appetizer ! ) My pizza the three cheese and anchovy.... So delicious, so salty and cheesy. In fact it was the perfect amount of saltiness, not overwhelming... my friends got the Brooklyner and Johnny za za which was also amazing. The smells that came to the table were incredible, all the oregano and basil! Just lovely. Also the waiter was really helpful picking out my wine! Very friendly! read more

We had been hearing about this place for a while, so on a Friday night we decided to give it a try. It absolutely lived up to the hype! Our party of four adults and one toddler had rosemary focaccia, the winter salad, and Brussels sprouts for appetizers; three pizzas (Brooklyner, Stracci, and Johnny Za Za) for mains; and the olive oil cake for dessert. Everything was delicious and perfectly done. We couldn't settle on what we liked best as everything was equally fantastic. The dining areas are relatively small, but it makes for a cozy atmosphere. With the restaurant being on a smaller side and full of people, it makes for a rather loud experience. We had a 17 month old in tow so this was actually preferable. Speaking of a toddler - this place is very family friendly! They had a stack of high chairs about 10 high and I saw at least three other tables with kids under 4 years old. I won't hesitate to take my toddler back. They open at 5:00, and the restaurant does fill up quickly. We showed up as a group of 5 around 5:45 on a Friday and waited roughly 35 minutes for a table. If we go with as large a group again, we'll be sure to call and make a reservation (parties or 5 or larger can make a reservation, otherwise it's walk-in). Overall, our evening at Stracci Pizza was great and we look forward to trying a few more Roman style pizzas on our next visit! read more

Stracci makes good pizza although it's different than any Roman pizza I ever ate in Italy. Each pizza is rectangular and can only feed one person for about $16+. Drinks are very expensive. For a small not so impressive atmosphere, a glass of wine starts at $14 and goes up. Beers start at $9 and go up. The entire experience there is "no contact". You scan a QR code and order your food/drinks. Limited interaction with service staff, almost like at a fast food place where they just bring your food/drink after ordering. Would I go back? Maybe. The wait times are ridiculous. Pizza is good but not authentic in my view. Pizza is much better than the typical chain restaurants. However, I think the place is a little over-hyped and the price for two people, with a pizza each and one beer each costs about $60+ without tip. Seems a little expensive for pizza. read more
