Hands down, the best pizza I have ever had. The stracciatella was everything. I had never had that before and it was so good. Excellent! Simple menu with delicious offerings made from fresh ingredients that are carefully paired to satisfy your pallet. We arrived right when it opened and we're seated immediately. There were easily 30 people in line ahead of us at 4:55. They offer a tasting menu if you have at least 5 people in your party. It was just two of us and we started with the sourdough focaccia and let me tell you it was outstanding! Chewy, tender and served with olive oil and we added aged Parmesan and chili peppers and wow! I wanted more however we opted for their meatballs which were simple and satisfying. Unique texture and not too heavy on the gravy. Outrageous! We followed it up with the pizza topped with homemade cheese and oh my goodness. The crust was crunchy and chewy and amazing! It was a bit cold where we sat so bring your sweater to keep you warm. Not complaining considering it was hot outside and the pizza oven was roaring. Our server was helpful and pleasant. I imagine that you need to make a reservation for a larger group. They take reservations for 5 or more. If you want a simple, delicious and satisfying meal, march right on down there. You won't regret it! We found this place because it's walking distance to my brother's apartment. We went there for a family night and loved everything we ordered. The staff is super insanely nice and friendly. It's a family owned placed run by a couple and their friends and you immediately feel that as soon as you walk in! We took our friends their as well and they happened to have the truffle pizza which is my all time favorite! They always end the night for us with a little shots of mizcal. The only thing I wish they would change is their ordering system. I think they now have enough business to have more staff or just get a better app so we don't have to go to the counter a bunch of times. read more

Really good pizza but just not worth the effort. We tried to get a seat at 5:10pm (only 10 mins after opening) and it was already a 45 min wait. I did order takeaway once but they have only a limited number of pickups per day and it's on a first-come-first-serve basis beginning at midnight. I am a die hard Chicago Deep Dish Pizza fanatic and usually do not care for most other pizza variations. But since my other half adores pizza, I have been trying to get myself excited about pizza... After our first visit, we swore we would be back and luckily the stars aligned and we were able to go back tonight. We have tried a variety of @straccipizza offerings and while they are tasty, our current crush is The Brooklyner!! Did I mention it comes with my favorite Calabrian chilis?! The main difference in any pizza is the crust and @straccipizza makes a surprisingly light and airy thin crust which is crispy and delightful. Definitely worth the drive to Alexandria VA. I saw this on TikTok and had to try it. The pizza was good, and a little different than regular pizza with the use of a different kind of cheese that has a soft Stracciata type of cheese. The crust is crusty and delicious as well. It's not wildly different than anything else I've had though, and the pizza is pricey at $18, I could probably eat 3 of these no joke, and I'm not a big eater. That being said, the service is really friendly, and the pizza is good, but one won't fill you up, at least it did not for me. read more

A new spot in Del Ray, you say? You know I was there! This pizza spot has been open for about two months and is operating out of a food truck parked in the lot of what used to be Emma's. I had the loveliest chat with one of the owners and she mentioned that they're working on permits to do outdoor and indoor seating--so look out for that hopefully coming soon! For now, you order ahead online and pickup from the truck--a perfect COVID-safe arrangement. Onto the 'za. We ordered The Stracci (essentially a classic margherita) and a build your own with their signature stracciatella, honey, and pepps. The drive home was TORTURE it smelled so good! They're doing a high hydration dough for the crust and it was honestly perfection. So chewy and light--and if you are producing pizza crust without a little char, do not speak to me. I also really appreciated that they put the basil on the pizza AFTER baking it. There is nothing worse than browned basil! Easily the best pizza I've had in a minute. read more

I would say as far as the ambience and aesthetic not really anything special to it. I waited for about an hour with my friends to get a table. To be fair I went on a Saturday night so, I have no complaints there. The pizza just simply put was nothing special at all the flavors didn't combine well the sauces on both pizzas I got lacked flavor. I got the Stracci and the 3 cheese and chovy pizzas. The cheese on the stracci pizza was wet and not cooked much and the sauce was this watery tomato sauce. The 3 cheese and Chovy had pesto, ricotta and anchovies and it simply didn't mesh well. The ricotta I will say tasted good. The crust on both pizzas were solid but all the slices lacked in consistency and some were less cooked than others. It wasn't worth the wait, I'm here to save you time as a lot of people just go with the hype on Yelp and leave good reviews for the sake of it. Everything we ordered was great, but my favorite was the Brooklyner with the Calabrian chile on the side (I like spice but this was a little much for me). While the pizza was good, the clientele and staff felt elitist and pushed ordering food at "a sit down restaurant" on an app. When asked about the option of ordering food the traditional way (with the waiter) and paying with cash, we felt demoralized and met with contention by the staff. We were being spoken down to and made to feel like what we asked was such a foreign concept, loudly and in the presence of all the surrounding tables. Let me go directly to the pizza. The size is perfect for adult, and definitely can share with two people. We love the stracci pizza, which simple but extremely tasty. Also, you MUST order their meatball. It was so damn good. I wish they come with at least a piece of bread. I am by no means a pizza expert but have been eating for a long time. These Roman pizzas, the stamp of approval from the Italian pizza mafia or using water shipped in from NY does not impress me. If it tastes good it's good and Stracci was bloody great! Lovely, crisp n chewy base, the right amount of sauce and quality toppings. Our pizzas were 'pickup' but we had to wait a little longer because the owner wanted one to be redone because he was not happy with it and did not want anthing inferior to leave the store! The food was amazing! I think the brooklyner is by far the best pizza! The focaccia bread was so soft and crispy on the outside, 1 order has 3 slices cost extra to get the olive oil dip. The meatballs...wow! It was so soft and tender and had so much flavor the tomato sauce was so simple and it complimented the meatball so well. Wow! Is all I can say. Did I kill my diet for the week, possibly the month? Yes.... Was it worth it?? 100% yes and I'd do it all over again. We started with some warm focaccia and an eggplant appetizer, meatballs, and chicken liver mouse (something I would have never tried but honestly it was my favorite appetizer ! ) My pizza the three cheese and anchovy.... So delicious, so salty and cheesy. In fact it was the perfect amount of saltiness, not overwhelming... my friends got the Brooklyner and Johnny za za which was also amazing. Stracci makes good pizza although it's different than any Roman pizza I ever ate in Italy. Each pizza is rectangular and can only feed one person for about $16+. Drinks are very expensive. For a small not so impressive atmosphere, a glass of wine starts at $14 and goes up. Beers start at $9 and go up. The entire experience there is "no contact". You scan a QR code and order your food/drinks. Limited interaction with service staff, almost like at a fast food place where they just bring your food/drink after ordering. Would I go back? Maybe. The wait times are ridiculous. Pizza is good but not authentic in my view. Pizza is much better than the typical chain restaurants. However, I think the place is a little over-hyped and the price for two people, with a pizza each and one beer each costs about $60+ without tip. Seems a little expensive for pizza. read more

Don't miss Stracci! It's not your typical restaurant in all the right ways. The food is outstanding, top-notch ingredients, and a friendly, engaging staff. The hostess puts you at ease immediately. It gets busy, but it moves quick and is 100% worth the wait. You order online; however, it's easy, efficient, and the wait team can help. I know, deep breath, trust me, you'll be fine. They make their own cheese and this effort transforms Stracci's menu. We had homemade Focaccia, meatballs and three of us ordered our own pies. We ordered sides of stracciatella and sauce with our Focaccia. Absolutely delicious, perfectly baked. The meatballs were outstanding. They were not dense, had a great blend of meat, and perfect texture. The sauce and generous shavings of parmigiana reggiano was a nice touch. One side note, they use garlic masterfully, the right amount and perfectly thin slices. While everything is tremendous, do NOT miss the pizzas. Stracci serves Roman style pizza, think brick oven, rectangle shaped, crust, but extremely light, with perfect blistering. The dough is a home run. The oldest son ordered the special, Mortadella and pistachio pesto. My other son chose the classic Stracci. I ordered the Stracci white and added sausage, onions, spinach, and garlic. All of them had the homemade stracciatella .I tried the special and it was special. Unfortunately, my son inhaled his Stracci, so I didn't get a taste. He rated it one of the best pizzas, a classic. Although they have a full bar menu, we opted for special sodas and sparkling water. We ended our night with mini chocolate cannolis and a fig and plum tart with homemade ricotta. it was beyond expectations and, believe me ours were high based on the food we had enjoyed so far. The ricotta was rich and creamy, the fruit flavorful, and the crust buttery with a nice texture. The dessert had the perfect level of sweetness. The mini chocolate cannolis were everything you want in a cannoli. BTW, they go by a much cooler name...cannolo? Great food, great staff, great atmosphere - Stracci gets 10-stars. The ultimate compliment? On the way out, my son said, "We should celebrate my graduation here." He's a senior in college and has dined well, probably too well, for a college kid. This place is truly spectacular! I haven't written a Yelp review in a few years, but I needed to break my silence to sing the praises of this fabulous restaurant. I ordered to go, online, in advance a full order of: Marinated Gigante Beans (with focaccia bread), Meatballs, Marinated Heirloom Tomatoes, The Stracci Pizza, and The Nico Pizza. Literally every single item was a showstopper. The marinated gigante beans were swoon worthy. Rich and salty and fatty while also light? On fantastic focaccia? Brilliant. The meatballs were so tasty and fluffy, but the cheese they put on top actually stole the show a bit. The marinated heirloom tomatoes? Just stop. If you, like me, spend the year craving the perfect Summertime heirloom tomato, you will LOVE this dish. Those tomatoes should be on a billboard. And the pizza? Well, let me tell you that you'll never be so glad to see char on your pizza! So flavorful and delightful. My favorite was the Nico, but the naturally sweet, fresh tomato sauce on the Stracci was fabulous. I would suggest adding ricotta (my favorite pizza topping) to the Stracci, but that's just me!
