Slate is definitely one of those stores. I stopped in on Christmas Eve just to browse around and I wish I could have bought everything in the place! It is a pretty hipster little store, and everything inside would be both useful to have in your home and serve as a conversation starter with guests. The items are unique, interesting, and high quality. There are kitchen gadgets, bar cart fixings, home decor items, greeting cards, jewelry...the list goes on. It's a great store and fits well with the Church Street aesthetic.

It was another salesman now bringing another couple over to display the sofa. He continued to point and press buttons with my son & I sitting there with zero disregard for any personal space. And the that him playing with buttons and knobs without consideration for the effect it was having on my son & I. I got up and we left, making mention to Ben on our way out. We have one in my hometown in New York too, so I used to frequent that one. Christmas Tree Shop has quite the variety of items... Patio furniture, gardening supplies, holiday decor, toiletries, sunglasses, flip flops, frames, food, lamps and so much more! I was looking for a Vermont souvenir, I was ecstatic to find a beautiful embroidered decorative pillow for $17! I've seen slightly nicer items like this retail for $150+. They also had a limited selection of items like hats and t-shirts. I think it's a great spot for inexpensive home decor, it's usually somewhat geared towards the region that you are in. This city is right by the lake, so there was a lot of cute stuff related to that. If you need something like plates, mugs or home decor, this is your spot. It's also a good place to pick up party supplies. Inventory at these stores is always changing, on this trip I spotted a lot of summery items like patio chairs or pool toys like inflatable rafts.
