Today was moving day.(who doesn't love moving day ... Ugh) I reserved a storage unit last week however due to work I had to change the date several times . I have to say they weren't annoyed in the least that I changed the date 3 or 4 times . The unit was pro-rated because of how late we moved into it . The woman at the store front was super friendly and very patient with me as we've never used a storage facility before . The only thing I can complain about is that when I walked out of the office I tripped over one of the cement bumpers in the parking lot and fell on my face . I'm not sure how I missed that big bright yellow cement bumper coming back out . I'm not sure if they saw me face plant or not and to be honest I hope they didn't . I literally laid on the ground for 60 seconds wanting just to die of embarrassment. Now that everyone who reads this got a good laugh (and it's ok if you did because I laughed to). Anyway back to the review . The storage unit was clean and didn't have any funky odor to it&was easy to find once we went through the gate . The pricing is in my own opinion fair and I don't feel like they price gouge you at all. As much as I'm satisfied with the overall experience I hope we never have to use them again . I reserved a unit online for a special online rate . Upon renting the unit the manager refused to give me the advertised rate, despit my reservation ( I showed him the confirmation email with the rate listed). I'm shaking my head. Shady. read more

I rarely use storage. But I needed it for my daughter who attends UK. We are from California so logistically it was a challenge to set up a safe and secure storage for her personal belongings. I expect a response from your CS team after reading this review, especially after point #7. 1) Went to get an AC unit, told me they'd call me back, wrote down the wrong number and never got a call...human error happened. 2) I go back because I never received a call, and speak with the Assistant GM. I end up purchasing a different unit with AC, but it has built in shelves in it. I asked if it was possible to remove the shelves. A day later I get a call, and low and behold, they found mold in the unit after taking out the shelves, and couldn't rent it to me. So if I didn't ask to remove those shelves and just moved in, I am jeopardizing my health. Okay, let's chalk this one up to unfortunate coincidence, and maybe a lack of oversight on management. 3) They move me to another unit without AC. Not the beset experience so far, but now I've got a unit and want to move on with life. The unit is dirty and the lightbulb is out, but the Assistant GM assures me she will clean it out and replace the light bulb. She asks for the lock so she can clean it out, change the light bulb, and lock it up for me. The day I move in, the unit is not clean and bulb is still out. She didn't lock the unit and kept the lock in the office, which was now closed for the evening. Great. So I move my stuff in, and drive to Lowe's, buy another lock, come back to my unit, and place the lock on it. An example of oversight. Trust in this brand and management team is starting to come into question. 4) That same night, I put the new lock on it, the latch to lock the unit doesn't work. You can still open the unit's garage door, even with a lock. Now I'm pissed. I have an illusion and anyone snooping around can open my unit. Probability of this happening is low, and so I wait to call them in the morning. Trust is starting to waiver with this management team. 5) I call and complain. They fiercely apologize, refund the cost of my original lock, and say they'll send a handyman over to the unit to fix the latch. I get a call later saying the latch is fixed, and so I go over to check on it. The latch is NOT fixed, and all the handyman did was take a mallet to the latch and hammer away at it. The latch is now stuck in place with dents in the metal. I'm incredibly pissed. My trust in this management team is deteriorating. 6) I complain AGAIN, and finally they send out the guy to ACTUALLY fix it. At this point, I've moved out of the state and have my friend attending the unit. She notes that the light bulb still hasn't been replaced. She complains AGAIN, and Lucy said she doesn't have lightbulbs onsite, but if my friend comes back on Saturday to open the unit, they will replace the light bulb. I tell my friend, forget it. It's not worth it. Broken promises and trust is now almost gone. 7) Move out date. My friend arrives and the unit has been broken into and a couple of cheap electronics were stolen (value of ~$200). She reports this to management and this morning I get a call from Lucy, the GM. She left a voicemail saying, "...she [my friend] had the only two keys and there was no forced entry. So it looks like she just forgot to lock that back..." My friend tells me there are no cameras where my unit is and so no one can confirm what happened. Lucy, it's quite possible my friend forgot to lock up the unit. Human error happens. However, it's also quite possible your management team went in with a master key and took my stuff. It's also possible that a couple of thieves came in, picked the lock, took my stuff and ran off. It's also possible a family of raccoons came through and did their thing. What I am saying is, anything is possible because YOU don't have proof otherwise, and to BLAME the customer is POOR and HORRID customer service. Trust is completely gone and now I will never use a StorageMart. Lucy, I fully expect a response from you on how you're going to make this right and an apology to my friend for accusing her, without PROOF, that this last incident was completely her fault. The units are not truly drive-up unless you're driving a smart car. First month free is a lie. Not even one day grace for rent before lockout. Office lady is a bit of a dingbat. Place is clean enough, but poorly run, I don't recommend it. EDIT: So they want to know why I "think" they don't give the free month? Because when I asked for it the first month (after paying a partial month on move it), the lady in the office said she didn't know anything about it. When I asked for it the second month, I was told not all units qualified for it. But it clearly states on the website that the size and type of unit I rented was first month free. There was no third month, as I moved out to a cheaper place with more competent staff. First month free was the only reason I chose this particular storage location in the first place. read more

The facility is always clean and the people helpful. If you are late paying expect to be locked out. They are quick to over loc your unit. However, they honestly would rather not be forced to auction your stuff. I'd give them 5 stars but I find the late fees exorbitant and I wish they had flexible dates to pay. read more

I am so disappointed with the service at this facility. I actually never stored my things here because of how rude the staff were. The first day I tried to come in to reserve a unit, the lady at the desk was dismissive and rude. Then when I tried to speak with the manager she told me lies. I can only assume she changed her mind and didn't want to let me rent there. I can't help but wonder if the color of my skin played a part in their treatment. The manager all but begged me to forgive them over the phone. We work everything out (over the phone), but then she calls me to say I can't have the unit the day before I move my things in. It's fine. I don't have to beg anyone to take my money. There are many other storage sites in Lexington, but it certainly hurt to have this happen. read more

This storage facility is in a convenient location and much has been put into its improvement over the last several months. It is looking really nice since having a new manager and new staff. Lucy is simply the greatest to work with. She is always quick to suggest units that meet my needs. Although there are some things that StorageMart, as a company, really should do differently, I believe the management and staff here are the best you will find of any other storage location in Lexington. The grounds are kept extremely neat and clean. This StorageMart location continues to improve every day. read more

I thought this would be a great place for storage but several times I've been my gate code wouldn't work. Very inconvenient....I had to go purchase items that I needed from storage. I was offered a $50 credit which didn't even halfway cover what I needed and I made 3 trips to try to get in. Their excuse was that they changed over the system and my password didn't transfer. The next month I couldn't get in because it was the 2nd and I hadn't made my payment yet. Last I checked that was why they gave a grace period. The lady at the desk said I couldn't get in until I paid. I called corporate and was told that she needed to let me in. They were supposed to let the lady in the office know for future reference. I forgot to mention she was rude. They get you in there with the first month free but sometimes you have to pay a little more to get better service. read more

Do not expect to pay the advertised price. It will be more. I was late in paying, and was assessed a late charge (which I have no issue with). The next month, I attempted to access the unit, and found a second lock on it, preventing me access, eventhough my bill was fully paid. I made a call, left a message. It was Sunday and it was closed, so I understand this... I requested a call back the following business day... I didn't receive that. I called back and was told they "missed removing the lock".... I paid people to pick up items in that storage unit, and since they attempted, I felt and was obligated to pay them, but was offered no compensation from Storage Mart for their mistake and my expense... Also you must buy their insurance if you don't provide them with renter's insurance even if nothing is stored in the unit.
