History
Established in 2010.
After struggling to find ample storage options while attending school at Cornell University, Dan Hagberg and fellow track captain Nick Huber, set out to create a company that put the customer first and made stress free storage affordable to all (even a broke college student).
In dire need of storage space, the two looked aimlessly at self-storage and moving companies to no avail. Hiring movers was far too costly and they did not have the time or means to haul their items to a self-storage facility. They bought a van, rented a warehouse, passed out flyers around campus, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Since these humble beginnings, Storage Squad has come to service over 34 campuses across the nation including becoming the Official Storage Provider of 5 major universities: Emory University, The George Washington University, Brandeis University, Penn State University, Iowa University, and The University of Illinois.
Meet the Business Owner: Dan and Nick H.
Storage Squad was founded by Cornell University undergrads Dan Hagberg and Nick Huber during the late spring of 2011 in Ithaca, NY.
Dan is originally from St. Charles, IL (about an hour outside of Chicago). He studied labor relations and ran track and field at Cornell.
Nick grew up in the middle of nowhere in Leopold, IN - a town of about 200 people in southern Indiana. Like Dan, he also studied labor relations and ran track at Cornell.
During their senior academic year, the duo spent time breaking down the traditional student storage process and seeing how they could make each individual step better. They learned how to build a website, purchased a truck, and created the now infamous Mega Box (provided free of charge to all customers).
Since then, Storage Squad has grown to service students at over 30 schools in 9 different states. The company has also recently launched a moving company in Boston and a self storage facility in Ithaca NY.
