My wife loves this place. I think it's average. The prices aren't anything special although they do have decent specials but so did the other supermarkets. The store is clean and well stocked for the most part although there are items missing every time I go. The biggest problem is The Wi-Fi. This matters because we store all the grocery list on their app and when you're in the store, their Wi-Fi sucks. It's unreliable and all the coupons are digital which means you have to have Wi-Fi to be able to save the coupon while you're there. I mean it used to be horrific and now it's only bad. I was able to go to the front of the store and get a signal and get onto my app, but it's less than ideal and they're aware of it and they've been aware of it For over a year. And don't tell me it's not fixable because that's bullshit. In my opinion, the best option is Shoprite, which is a first class store. You feel like you're at a high-end store but paying regular supermarket prices. read more

The delivery service is awful. If I could give negative stars I would. Each time I have used it there is an issue. This is the last time. I will use Shoprite delivery which is much better. They are always 2, 3 hours late. Once, my groceries were given to the wrong person. This time, they were 2 hours late and left them outside in the street. $300 worth of groceries left outside. All Stop & Shop did was waive my delivery fee and driver tip and give me a $20 credit. Shoprite delivers to your door and if they forget something, they make a 2nd delivery free of charge. read more

I got to manage my expectations. Moved here a few weeks ago and finding a decent grocery store has been a challenge. This one is closest to me so that is nice. Find it a bit weird being on the bottom of a shopping center, making me feel like I'm shopping in a basement. Selection is good. Have to get used to different products and brands. My mobile does not work in the store unless I'm all the way up front by a window. Service is lacking. Staff isn't all that welcoming or friendly. One time I stood at the customer service desk and employees were just talking amongst themselves, it took a few minutes before they acknowledged me. Found that exceedingly annoying. In a very busy mall off Bedford Street resides this sizable grocery store chain. We were assisting our aging Aunt to buy groceries for the week. The store was quite busy and the aisles were crowded for a Saturday afternoon. They carry many different brands for all types of products, if you can't find what your looking for I'd be shocked. This Stop and Shop is no longer 24/7 which was very useful when it was. I'm still getting used to this layout vs. the one I used to go to. Everything is well stocked and maintained. I've never had an expiration date issue here. The reason for four stars (and I would knock it to three but I like the selection here) is because the employees are so unprofessional and RUDE. I'm rarely greeted and often feel like I'm a burden on them. You can hear the sighs when you pull up with a full cart. I almost passed their picket line because the employees only care about themselves and their VERY audible gossip between one another. But I didn't. Anyways, Stop and Shop is always clean and stocked...and you're guaranteed to encounter a rude employee. (Now, not all are rude but the majority are). read more

This location has truly turned itself around from what it used to be. They've recently renovated and it looks so much nicer now. Much cleaner and the produce is much more fresh and appealing then I feel like it used to be by a long shot! They have a large self check out as well which is great. AVOID SHOPPING HERE!!! My wife and I went on a Tuesday night right after work. A lot of the items were out of stock. We usually use the "laser gun" as we shop so we can just checkout and go with everything packed. The guns weren't working. It would randomly delete items and the screen would scroll all by itself. (I tried 3 different ones) Then we get to self checkout. Evey time we filled our bag after scanning we would put the bag in the cart. (We had 7 bags of groceries to scan) The machine would stop and call for an employee that would have to override. We were told by the manager ALL bags have to stay in the bag area until the complete order is finished. The bag area only holds about 4 bags MAX. So every time we would have to get someone to override it. It happened at EVERY self-checkout station. The manager said it was put in today and he agrees its really bad. Its supposed to help with theft. I said "it will help because nobody will shop here anymore." Also...check your receipt. The strawberries were advertised as buy 1 get 1 free. The receipt discounted it $2. Hardly buy 1 get 1 when it's $6.99 There are PLENTY of other supermarkets in the area. We will taking our business elsewhere. read more

I just moved to Stamford and was so excited to see a Stop and Shop near my home because it's the supermarket I am used to shopping at. This one is HUGE and has so many ethnic foods. I was in heaven, that is, until I found out that the deli person didn't understand what 1/3 lb is and didn't understand the word "thin" is either. We settled on that 1/3 is less than 1/2 and thick and thin are similar words. There were 2 checkout lanes open and I had way to many items to use the self check out lanes, which had a very long line anyway. The person who was working in my lane seemed to be taking a very long time to count out and give change and the line was growing. There was another employee at the end, presumably to bag, but the customers were bagging their own and she was just watching. When it was my turn, the bagger did nothing. This weekend I made some routine purchases at this store. One of which was a store brand orange soda. Upon finally opening it 3 days later it had a funny taste and smell to it. My first thought was maybe it was the cup. So I tried a different cup, same result. Upon further looking at it the expiration date on the bottle was 8/22/18. I purchased this 10/26/19. I've shopped at Stop & Shop on Bedford in Stamford for 2 years now. I really like the store but I just had another incident of an employee being nasty. The 1st time was when I asked the person stocking the produce aisle for a certain kind of onion that I was not familiar with. He was awful and really condescending. I felt terrible about the interaction but I thought he does not represent everyone in the store. That said, lets face it, their produce is good not great compared to some others. They could use a dose of "helpful" in that aisle. But I continued to shop there. Today is Thanksgiving and I asked at the cashier and front desk if I had to bring an xmas tree in, or given they were marked with certain ribbons assuming same color ribbons were all priced the same, if I could pay instore and pick it up outside. This ended up on a conversation with an employee that got nasty. Not just with one but 2 employees. At one point I told the employee that I would like to find the manager and she said "I'll go there with you". I'm not the type to write a Yelp review (1st one ever) or go to the store manager...but I did today. I don't think the Stop & Shop rank and file in Stamford are trained to handle objections, solve problems, or honor Stop & Shop customers. I ended up speaking to Jerry the manager who was very professional and kind. He asked for specific names which I had from name tags but I didn't want retribution so I didn't give him any names. It would be great though if they would train their people to be more helpful and more kind. At some level, this starts with hiring and ends with training. I'm good to buy about $1,000 per year at the Stamford Stop & Shop. Not much in the big scheme of things for Stop & Shop. But its a lot for me. The prices are decent and they have a wide selection of prices. The deli workers are super nice and friendly, which bumps it up from 3 stars to 4 stars for me. The deli counter here averages around a 2 year wait for a lb of American Cheese. You think when you come in that ordering from the kiosk then doing your grocery shopping and coming to pick it up 40m later would save you the wait. You'd be wrong. You'll have to tell the people at the counter you submitted a kiosk order and then wait anyway. This has happened to me about 15 times. They are consistent though, I've never had a shorter wait. read more

The worst Stop & Shop in this area. Customer service is either non existent or just plain sucks. The parking lot is a nightmare. Don't make the mistake of using the self serve scanners because if they stop working for some reason and you don't notice, they will basically call you a thief. I only use the self checkout now because of that incident. I try so hard not to go to this location but sometimes it's unavoidable since I work in the area. The customer service at this location is the absolute worst! This location went from 24rs to closing at 1:00am. I and a few other customers arrived at 12:45am Wednesday 10/23/13 and found that the store was closed. I questioned an employee at the door who turned to ask her manager if she could let us in the manager told her "tell them we are closed." I called at 8:00am when they reopened and spoke to the most unprofessional. Assistant manager named Laura who basically told me I was lying about the store closing early. I've been shopping at this store since I moved to Stamford 4+ years ago. I've always preferred shopping there over the other stores in the area. But since the pandemic, and I understand there were issues early on, but now this store has so many shelves that are empty when the other Stop and Shop nearby has shelves amply stocked. I prefer the vibe in this store, but they're making it very hard to continue shopping there. Whomever is doing the ordering of goods for the store needs to be much more attentive to the needs of the shelves, or be replaced by someone who can do the job properly. read more

What a disaster - this location started a construction/reorganization project just before thanksgiving...and it's still ongoing. There is total and complete disorder - items have been moved so the directory signs no longer match what's in the aisles, some aisles are filled with rolling carts of product to be moved so these aisles are now too narrow and not Covid safe when you pass people. No one working there knows were products have been moved to and the temporary item relocation page that they printed isn't accurate either. I've started going to a different store where chaos doesn't result in an extra 30 minutes+ of shopping during a pandemic to find what I'm looking for. I find this supermarket perfectly acceptable. I go in there at least twice a week and I never have had any problems. Most of the produce is good, some rarely bad, some beautiful. They have a large selection of gluten free items, though I would like some more in the frozen area (the freezer section is quite small compared to most grocery stores). Also I wish they carried some indian food items like the Trader Joe's(they have it randomly at some times). The staff is pretty fine and friendly. I also find the check out staff to be more than friendly, I enjoy speaking with them while checking out. In fact, I find all the employees helpful and accommodating. My boyfriend hates the queues for billing, he insists on going to self checkout, though generally he is not doing the shopping ;) read more

For a great selection of product and good values with their sales this location is by far the best. I love the selection from the organic, to the olive bar in this store by far the best and the location is convenient. The downside to this store is the absolutely horrible customer service. The staff here just stares at you like do you want something, should I say hello and thanks for shopping at Stop n Shop. The staff needs desperate customer service training in the basics. Poor customer service regardless how busy your store is should not be tolerated but it appears as though the team here thinks the customer should be taken for granted. Stop N Shop is one of the closest supermarkets to our home here in North Stamford. The other is an Acme. Being a Supermarket one would think that Stop N' Shop would have good fair prices. Here's a simple comparison that blew me away yesterday. For this comparison I'll use Stilton Cheese. this is a blue cheese made in England. At Fairway a rather wonderful market Stilton sells for $11.99 a pound, at Trader Joe's it's $10.99 a pound. At Stop N' Shop Stilton sells for 7.99 for 5.3 oz. which works out to $24 a pound. What up ? Same goes for half n half and lots of other things that should be at reasonable prices. This is not the corner bodega that one goes to to get that last minute thing. This is supposed to be the store you use every week for essentials and fancy items. I like to go into a supermarket and not look at prices. That would say that the store and I are in a trust relationship. Ripping off customers does not make me want to come back and I will come back as rarely as I can.
