Terrible pharmacy.. where do I start..how about the recent time I picked up my insulin prescription…read moreonly to get home and find out the rx was empty and I had to drive back to get the med, and when I complained the pharmacist chuckled like it was funny...or waiting 3 weeks to get a freestyle libre monitor for my diabetes and having them totally flub the prescription, initially being told it wasn't covered by nedicare..then after 3 weeks they lost the prescription to the sensors...that was it, switched to CVS yesterday and the rx for monitor and sensors ready today! In addition Walgreens was going to charge $86.00 with my insurance for the monitor reader..CVS rightly charged 0 as diabetic supplies are covered by medicare.. There were many other issues with the Walgreens Fairhaven pharmacy and glad I switched to CVS.. Also found the Walgreens staff 220 Huttleston Ave Fairhaven to be uncaring to the point where I was essentially accused of lying by the pharmacist when I advised her that there had been 3 calls to the pharmacy: two by Blue Cross and one call from Netscape to resolve whatever issue was holding up the receipt of this monitor...

I have tried local pharmacies and express orders from specialty pharmacies in Boston. Nothing has compared to Walgreens on Purchase St. They answer their phones, are pleasant to speak to and they are extremely efficient. I am now one year seizure free and I can honestly say that I owe it to Odilia and her staff at Walgreens on Purchase St. They put my needs first and make sure I always have my medication in on time (even when they are specialty medication). I can (figuratively) breathe now and I no longer have the stress every month of worrying if I will have my meds on time. It truly has been the biggest relief and in my case, a lifesaver.

This brightly lit location is organized, well-stocked, and clean. For the most part, I find what I need and I'm on my way in no time. What prevents this place from bumping up in stars are two things: pricing and customer service. Whenever I come in here, the items I am looking for are always priced higher than other places I shop at. I am willing to pay because I am often in a time crunch and need whatever it is I came in for. My other issue with this location is that the customer service is hit or miss. Sometimes the staff are very pleasant but other times I am appalled by what I encounter. I was in here one morning and as I approached the front counter there was no one there. There was though, at the other counter, a manager-type person talking on the telephone. As I placed my items down on the counter, I jumped out of my skin as he yelled at the top of his lungs for the cashier to return to her post. "Brenda!!!!..... Brendaaaaa!!!" or whatever her name was. Seriously dude? As she approached the counter he continued to openly chide her asking "where were you?" in a harsh tone. As she tried to explain she was getting something to drink he went on and on about her responsibilities at the counter. Not only must she have felt terrible, I felt embarrassed and awkward to be stuck in the middle of this encounter. I would have been happier waiting for a minute or two... or having the manager hang up the phone and take care of the transaction himself. This CVS and CVS as a business are the absolute worst…read more It's understaffed here so there's always a line at the pharmacy. Doesn't matter when you come. It's dirty. They do everything in their power to inconvenience you -- first they took away the ability to speak with the pharmacist on the phone about a year ago. Just recently they added this self scan at the pharmacist, so you get to stand there awkwardly as you put in your info when you used to be able to just tell them. Why even have people working there at all? How hard would it be to add some automation. How is there not a way for people to take lunch shifts instead of the whole thing shutting down in the middle of the day. I hope CVS goes out of business, I hope the employees find a better employer. All the cost saving measures CVS has put in to pad the shareholders bottom dollar at the expense of people's health -- they should be ashamed.
