This is kind of an odd shopping experience because the store is always totally empty! For produce and meat I'd definitely say to skip out. It just doesn't seem like inventory is moving here, if that makes sense. For packaged goods, frozen stuff and dairy there is plenty of selection. It's a good stop to make if you just need to pick up a few quick items, like a can of something or some cereal. For Starbucks, I'd definitely say to avoid. The drinks are not great, and there always seems to be some kind of issue like a broken cc machine. Overall, it's good if you need to be in and out for a few items. For higher quality meat and produce you are better off at Wegmans or ShopRite. read more

I purchased flat bread from them yesterday. Went home ate 75% of a piece and noticed mold all over the bread. Went back this morning to speak to a manager. I didn't want my money back. All I wanted was an assurance they would remove the other packaging from the shelves. I obviously interrupted the manager Ivan who promptly bounced me to the service desk. I have no idea why they would have a manager on staff who didn't want to hear about any issues with the store. I never received an apology and left before I said something stupid. It's disgraceful. Stopped on to do some quick shopping for groceries. They have a pretty good selection of items and in some cases a better selection than Wegmans. They have a Starbucks, bank, and small bakery on site; as well as, fresh meats and produce. Always check your receipts and make sure that your shoppers card was scanned and that the scanner takes your your digital coupons. If you have to buy a lot of stuff and you have a choice between Stop N Shop and Wegmans, go to Wegmans; but for a quick shopping trip. Stop N Shop isn't too bad at all. Overall, 3 stars. read more

Buyers need to beware!! I stopped in there for a few items over the summer. All the items I picked up were on sale and discounted. At the self checkout register I put my phone number in and the discounts came off. Although when looking at the final price it was off. I got charged an extra $8 for a $30 purchase. I went to customer service and they broke out a calculator and I was standing there for 10 minutes as they kept adding up the numbers wondering where this extra $8 came from. It was especially weird because all of the discounts that would have been deducted from the final price were less than the $8 so I was getting charged more money than if I were to pay full price for all of the items. The workers were baffled at this happening but imagine if I had a full grocery trip there and that amount could have been tripled or more. Despite seeing the discounts being deducted if you think you should be paying less it's worth looking at the receipt. I did get a cash refund but the whole process took 20+ minutes. Went to pick up some groceries. I'm new to the area. The cashier accused me of switching the tomato bag. Had the nerve to ask me if I changed the tomato bag. I've been racially profiled in there. Using self checkout after a white woman and no one was standing around to me going to self checkout behind her and having an employee stand directly behind me watching me. I used to work around the corner from this place eons ago. It hasn't changed much in the many years that have passed. I stopped in the other day to pick up some random items. It's still a large S&S. They have a Starbucks inside. Their isles are roomy enough to have 2 carts pass without squeezing by. Salad bar is decent. Self Checkout is a big bonus. While I don't think it's fair to judge a store by one poor experience (hence the two-star rating instead of just one star), the poor experience I had this evening warrants a public complaint. I decided to go to Stop and Shop to pick up a few basic groceries: some produce, cottage cheese, yogurt, frozen foods, etc. Stop and Shop, like many grocers, is guilty of spreading items on the shelf to keep the shelves looking full. This can lead to some confusion when an item is in the "spot" reserved for an out of stock item. So, when I saw a 6 pack of hardboiled eggs on the shelf with a $1 label under them, I grabbed a bag. It was the only sign on the shelf that read "Hardboiled eggs." I went through self-checkout without any complications or issues with my coupons. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that the eggs came out to $2.99- almost three times the amount I expected to pay- until AFTER I paid. I went to the Customer Service desk, but in front of the large purple banner on the back wall reading "No hassle... no hassle... no hassle" was a line of signs: "Register closed." I looked around for a call-button or bell and paced the front for a few minutes to search for a manager/employee to assist me. Eventually, I decided to see if there was anybody stationed near self-checkout. I hadn't noticed anyone before. The employee on duty was sitting on a box, hunched over his cell phone. While I have never worked for the company, I'm certain that sitting down and using your phone while on the clock is in complete violation of company policy. I explained to the young man that the item I purchased was more expensive than I was expecting, and I wanted to return the item. Unable to authorize a refund, he called a woman who, they claimed, was the only manager on duty. The woman told me that she was only filling in for the regular manager who went home sick, and she, too, was unauthorized to process a $2.99 refund. Her only suggestion was to come back. I pointed out that having to come back the following day, which not only means wasting time, but also gas and slight wear and tear of my car, is a "hassle" which violates the clear, posted sign advertising "no hassle" returns. Ironically, now, the store will be just as bad off refunding my money while allowing me to keep the item I purchased. Had I gotten the refund when I requested it, the item could be placed back on the shelf. Now that I have taken it home, if I bring it back to make a return, the store will have to discard it. While $3.00 is not a significant amount of money, these kinds of things can add up quickly. By not honoring their "no hassle" sign, and by not keeping shelves properly labeled, the store is losing money, not only on individual items, but because poor customer service will cause them to lose customers entirely. The store is no longer just competing against a small Shoprite. This location, in particular, has pretty high demands to meet with the large Shoprite down the road in Cedar Knolls, and the new Wegmans. This store doesn't have a prepared food selection comparable to either Shoprite or Wegmans, nor does it off the selection of items available in either store. Even boasting about the Starbucks inside is a stretch with the full-sized Starbucks (complete with WiFi and seating) located just down the street on Route 10. I honestly would not be surprised to see the store go downhill, and, eventually, close if they drive their customers away with poor customer service. read more

This is a pretty standard Stop n Shop, Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible, expect above average supermarket florist, IMO. I tend to prefer the Shop Rite on the other side of 202 as the prices are lower, but I end up here sometimes too. read more

Today I had an emergency requiring an $800 payment being sent to me via Western Union and had a cab transporting me. So we couldnt find any Western Union locations anywhere nearby that would pay out more than $300. We finally found this Stop and Shop and I initially spoke to a young girl who cut me off mid sentence several times, said she was listening to me when she wasn't, then said ''we don't have that much to give you'' A Stop and Shop on a Sunday afternoon? Bull, so I asked for her manager who was appaerently briefed by this young girl before she answered the phone. The manager answered and immediately started speaking and overtalking me. Both but especially the manager had horrible attitudes and when I asked ''if you're open all day on a weekend, (this was late afternoon) how can you tell me that you only have $100 in your drawer?" (Yes, she said that) and her answer was ''yes'' Total bull crap..... So, I wound up spending $110 on the same taxi to take me to a Orange City N.J. check cashing place all round trip and just making it with 5 mins to spare, I just made it. The taxi driver lost control in the rain speeding to get me there and we 360'd 2 times. We were almost injured or worse. All of the above because of this Stop and Shop stating they only had $100 in a Western Union drawer, BULL. If a store has Western Union they should have money in it and stores should treat their CUSTOMERS better than they do? Their attitudes were dispicable with bad customer service.....I can see why stores like that have high turn over rates like minimum wage is rhe customers fault.? Never again, as a matter if fact I have their names and I'm reporting this to Corporate. Period. Again, I wish there was a zero but again I'm stuck pressing a 1 star. read more

Yay! If you live in the area, you know that this Stop & Shop is right across the street from the Kohl's plaza that contains a Shop Rite. If you are torn about which to go to, head to Stop & Shop and I'll list the reasons why. 1. It has its own parking lot (so you don't have to fight for parking spaces with the crazy Kohl's discount shoppers) and there are two entrances so you can never park too far from the store. Shop Rite only has one entrance. 2. It's v. clean and modern looking and spacious. I think the Shop Rite has an 80s vibe with the interior design (the style of the shelving, the font, the over-excessive use of the color brown) and it's always really crowded, not because of its popularity, but because of the narrow aisles and poor layout. 3. Stop & Shop has everything! My sister and I like to make "exotic" foods from time to time and they have an Asian section, Latin section, an extensive selection of spices and random products, etc. And everything is organized and easy to find. 4. They have something called 'Scan It' which is a hand-held scanner you bring along with you when you shop and you can scan your frequent shopper card and then all of your items which makes checkout a breeze. 5. If you fill your prescriptions at their pharmacy, you can go online to renew before you pick it up so that you don't have to dawdle and wait in the store. The only downside is that often, I've seen that the Shop Rite is cheaper with a lot of products, but not so much so that I'd choose it over the Stop & Shop. There are a bunch more reasons I prefer this Stop & Shop as my go-to grocery store, but I think these are sufficient, don't you? read more

Stop and Shop is a good alternative to the Shop Rite and Wegmans mega-stores that are close by when you only need a few items. The prices are a but higher than Shop Rite for sure but not outrageous. So you can get in and out relatively quickly. Parking is usually available in their lot nearby the store. Stop and Shop seems to have everything one would need, including a pharmacy and bank inside. We like the deli counter which feature Boars Head products. read more

My favorite grocery store in the area - absolutely massive with great selection, this Stop&Shop is always clean with lots of options for everything I need. A good bakery, a well-stocked RedBox kiosk, and new portable scanners so you can quick checkout, this grocery store has it all. The portable scanners are part of my favorite things; tying in my customer card, I get coupons through the scanner on stuff I'm likely to buy anyway. Plus I've rarely waited in line to check out and the deli counter system is really easy (enter your order, go away, and wait for the order to be called over the intercom). This Stop and Shop in Morris Plains has been my primary food store to shop at for many years. It has everything I need. I know it was tough dealing with the past couple year for employees, but I scratch my head at who is running the store recently. The deli quality and service has really gone downhill in recent years. There are often times where there is no cashier on duty, so you are forced to use self checkout (or page an employee and wait for them to open a register, there is no excuse for a store this size to not have a cashier available at all times). I think the Regional Manager needs to step up and have customer surveys, given all the competition that moved into the area in recent years (there are a few other food stores in the area that are much busier then this Stop and Shop location, you would think the management would take notice and take action to improve and win more regular customers/increase sales. read more

I am extremely disappointed in this store tonight. My husband was in the area and picked up shrimp from the seafood department. He went to cook it and it is completely spoiled. I could smell it from across the room. Unfortunately, we live far from this location so he is going to have to make an extra long trip to get his money refunded. I just started shopping here and I like this store a lot so far! First of all, it is HUGE and I originally was a bit nervous about finding what I needed in such a large store but I've managed to find all kinds of different type food and offbeat things (such as large wind chimes for a very reasonable price). They have an organic section, a fish market with fresh fish sold (and live lobsters?), a deli where you can place a deli order on a screen and then pick it up later (no standing about for 45 minutes), also deli meats and cheeses which are pre-packaged, a non food's aisle with seasonal items, a Pharmacy, and just about anything else you might need. It does remind me of somewhat of the new Shop Rite in Morristown, but Stop & Shop does not have a liquor department...that's the only difference I can think of right now. There is a large parking lot in front of the store and I've never had trouble getting a space as there are no other stores competing for parking spots ..... I also think they sell very high quality food ...... Take off 1/2 a star....they no longer carry San Pellegrino orange/limonata soda/water...Why? read more

Horrible service .... I always use the pick up with small kids it's just easier. However lately it's just a joke. You can call and call and no one answers. One time I placed an order and put a pick up time no call or email to say there was a delay. I called and I get an attitude from some girl on the phone. Another time I'm waiting for my groceries I call the girl tells me she is handicapped and can't bring out my order. And tells me I need to wait after I already waited with a screaming child for 10 mins. I told her bring the stuff out and I will load it myself. This last time I waited 15 mins called 5 times and no answer. I called customer service and get told the girl called out. Ok again not my problem but if you are offering a service and can't deliver than maybe don't offer so many open spots to pick up my groceries. I'll be interested to see how they are faring now that Wegmans is open, just a few miles away. Customer service is surly and prices higher than the competitors'. Only reason I go anymore is to stock up on a flavor of cat food that no one else carries. (Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Salmon & Sole. Anyone know of another place nearby that sells it?) Had a bad experience at the PNC Bank in the store, too, though this branch is not listed in the Yelp list. Needed to get 2 rolls of quarters. This Stop & Shop has been here practically all my life and I've only gone to it, maybe, 5 times at the most. But, the day before Thanksgiving, we had multiple emergencies and had to make a run out to the grocery store to salvage our dishes. I had called 5 Shoprites looking for a particular ingredient and none of them could tell me if they had what I wanted. We just happened on this Stop & Stop on our way and decided to pop is just in case. Am I glad we did! We found everything we were looking for including ground lamb, which is not always easy to come by. I have explored this store completely yet, but they get 5 stars for saving my Thanksgiving dinner! read more

Good selection but prices are high. Fresh produce. I like the selections but it is often empty and if there are any people there, they are quite rude and snobby. You can never find an associate to meaningfully help you. It's like you do them the favor by shopping there. I'm a Shop Rite person and will go to Parsippany SR out of my way because the one accross the street from this S&S is not good at all. When it comes down to it, I run to this S&S. I don't like the set up of the isles because they are not what I'm used to. read more

Overall a good store. While it's true that they are more expensive than SOME supermarkets, they have a lot of items that are consistently on sale. For instance, Oreo cookies, breakfast cereals, etc. So if you shop wisely you can make the most out of it. One thing that bugs me is that they often have items that LOOK like they are on sale when they are not. They put on-sale items together with items that are NOT on sale. Also, they close early (11pm) on Sunday nights. Kind of annoying because that is exactly when I want to go there. Also, I've seen people trying to walk in at this time only to be surprised that it is their early closing night (every other night they close at midnight). read more

It's an ok store, but the service deli is very slow. The clerks don't want to look up and see a customer waiting. They are too busy chatting to each other and moving very slowly. Also, many times there are no rotisserie chickens available when I want to get one around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Very disappointing. For such a high priced store I expect more. read more

The pharmacy is very inconsiderate. I go every month to pick up the same prescription. Every month I wait 45 minutes when I'm told that it will be 20. I pick up a prescription that I need to take every day. Today I called ahead of time which probably was a mistake because I felt very much that I was punished for that. I asked if my prescription could be queued up because it takes a ridiculously long time. The woman on the phone said no and I politely hung up the phone. When I get there there was somebody before me and I usually wait very visibly for my prescription. Typically somebody will indicate to me that I am ready to go. This time I'm waiting for about a half hour and the woman in front of me had a complication which is totally fine I definitely understand it sometimes there are problems. But the woman behind the counter comes up to me and says it'll be another 20 minutes because there was a problem now if you saw me standing there for 30 minutes already how dare you come up to me tell me it'll be another 20. After this prescription is filled I am never going back to the Stop & Shop again. Now I am late for the places I need to be today and without my prescription that I need to take every day.
