A total rip off! The prices are dollars $$$ above other cities. No new products, No new brands, or flavors when a brand rolls out something new you will not find it here. It's like a "Hand Maids Tale" store. The exact same products that have been on the shelves for YEARS. You Will stretch your dollars elsewhere. Total disappointment. Fruit platters taste like soap, bakery dept is boring , customer service is often lacking. Employes and management are tired and rude. So there is no one to report them to. Store really needs a face-lift considering how expensive it is. read more

Stop and Shop Lincoln St. is what happens when there is no competition. As others have stated, if they have a sale GOOD LUCK finding anything in stock. But hey, they got you in the store didn't they? And while there are some genuinely nice employees, most you will find griping about management and/or their jobs... every single time. In my experience, you can tell exactly what management is like by the way their employees act. The store is pretty decrepit but they spent money on a huge rolling robot that apparently has a camera inside of it? That's weird. If you like your hearing, don't go to the gas pumps. Again, it doesn't look like they make in-store updates but they installed LOUD video monitors at the pumps. Who doesn't like to be forced getting screamed at while trying to pump gas (you can't turn the video off or the volume down). They're also very proud of their products. Evident by the cost of pretty much everything. Not overpriced by a few pennies - we're talking DOLLARS more than other stores for the same products. It's infuriating because they know there's not much else around grocery-wise for people who live directly in the area. Two of my "favorite" experiences ahead: Once I was directly behind a guy heading to lock the doors nearest Hampden St. as they do every night at 8pm. It was literally one minute before 8, I was directly behind the guy, and he refused to let me out of the door so I had to walk all the way to the opposite entrance (Lincoln St side) and back down in front of the store where my car was parked (right outside the Hampden St exit). That was just a jerk move from a jerk employee. My other favorite is when I needed to exchange an item I had purchased because there was a hole in the bag. I took it to the customer service desk where the woman grunted at me (she actually grunted), took my receipt and my product and told me to go get a new one and bring it to her. I went straight to the product, got a new one, came back and she was gone. As in - she shut down the customer service station and was GONE. She had my receipt! I didn't feel like getting arrested for not having a receipt for an item I just took off the shelf so I asked another employee where she was. He yelled in front of everyone, "CAN'T YOU READ? THE SIGN CLEARLY SAYS THEY'RE CLOSED!" Incredibly embarrassing. Apparently as soon as I left she closed the station and placed a sign on the counter saying they were closed. Nice. Another jerk move, this time by TWO employees. I worked in retail most of my teen - early adult life and understand the stresses of working with the public can pretty awful at times but man, I've had it with this Stop and Shop. We live blocks away but go out of our way to go to another (non S&S) grocery store. The prices at the other place are high but at least they offer a clean environment, a hot bar, build your own sandwiches, a butcher that is actually there to help and above all, their employees are consistently nice. The price of items are too high. Any item that is on sale is never available... shelves are never restocked. The self checkout registers never work properly and are in need of maintenance. Rude employees. read more

While traveling through Holyoke we needed to pick up some groceries so we decided to stop at this Stop & Shop after passing by it multiple times. We didn't have high expectations walking in, but our opinion quickly changed once we walked into the store. The first thing that we saw was their incredible floral section and we found out that the rest of the store also had an incredible selection. Overall, every aisle was well stocked, the store was clean, and the staff here was polite. It was also great that the location has a gas station attached to the lot which will make fueling easy especially when using your gas points. read more

The management is historically defensive, and act put upon when any suggestions, or reports of issues are made. Today when I went in, for the second time this week ,there were no handheld baskets by either entry door, and for the second time this week I reported it to several young employees, none of whom did anything about it. One was chatting with a fellow employee, and the other, at the self-serve checkout, was talking on her phone which she had propped up in front of her. They seem seriously understaffed lately, they might want to consider paying employees more, and doing a training for the employees and management about customer service. read more

Being a long term Holyoke resident the Lincoln St Stop and Shop would be my go to location. Just leaving there I decided to write a review. Perhaps it being a late rainy Sunday afternoon nobody wants to be there working. Totally get it. However when you decide to work with customers you should try to have some "customer service " behaviors. A friendly "Hello"', perhaps a "Thank You" for shopping here would be nice?? Instead I wait patiently at the Deli counter as the two Associates chit chat amongst themselves as I wait. Finally my number gets called, luckily I was the only one there. Fine. Totally understand. I finish up and go to the self service check out and the Associate is standing at her podium showing absolutely no interest in being there. My "register" has an issue when I put the bag I brought from home, (now there charging .10 cents for a paper bag... must be because of Covid??) the young lady comes over and says nothing puts her credentials in and then leaves. A few moments later and same thing happens... she comes back over says nothing does the same thing and goes back to her "station." I am now walking out and instead of a "thank you" she looks at me and says nothing. All in all your store has food, it's a grocery store. I get it. What I don't get is If you are an employer who hires employees to work with the public, which are your customers, why are you not doing anything to train them to be better than what I experienced this afternoon. I frequent the Stop & Shop in Holyoke on Lincoln Street. I usually go to the salad bar. Lately they have not replenished a lot of the items at the salad bar which is very frustrating. So I am paying for a limited amount of items. This has been the case at lunchtime and I have also gone after work at 6:30. It is as if it is not a high priority even though it is the first areas that you see when you enter the store. read more

I was spoken to quite rudely by a youngish woman while using the self check out I was reprimanded for not taking off a coupon after I swiped the product. Idk why but her know it all attitude about the system surprised me as I'm not a cashier. .place is too expensive to have to ring myself out. read more

I do most of my shopping at Big Y and get only a few products from Stop and Shop. If I want Boar's Head deli meats then SS or Geissler's is where I must go as Big Y doesn't carry that brand. read more

OK, the news story on TV a couple nights ago was the factor that decided me against shopping here today. The story about moldy cheese would have been disturbing in itself, but the fact that the item in question had three stickers, each with an upgraded "sell by" date confirmed a suspicion I have had about this store for some time. So annoyed with these guys today! I went in at about 10:30 on a Saturday to pick up a dozen balloons, cupcakes and decorations for a baby shower. I went to the floral department first knowing that balloons can take some time. There was a sign up that said no one was working in the floral department so either take your selections to the main registers or contact customer service. ????? What?? On a busy Saturday morning??. Oh well, no problem. I went to customer service and they paged for help in the floral department. 10 minutes and no one came by. I saw an employee in produce and asked her if she knew if anyone that could help. She kindly went back to customer service and had another page go through. Again, I waited about 10 minutes and no one came by. Finally I gave up and got balloons at stop and shop in Hadley. Their floral department was staffed and extremely friendly! read more

This place has gone so down hill it's amazing people still shop here. The produce molds a day after it's bought even in season, the deli is an unorganised mess with never enough staff on to help, the seafood dept. is full of prepackaged frozen food and rarely anything fresh (I miss the lobster tank and proper fish counter from back in the day!) and the isles are always a mess and there are constantly stocking carts everywhere. The worst part is the customer service. 99% of the employees are young and rude and are CONSISTENTLY talking to their coworkers and shouting across the belts about their plans and inside jokes and rude banter. I've seen it from some of the floor managers as well. Almost every time I'm cashing out here I never even get so much as a "hello" or "goodbye", but rather employees talking to each other about "getting out of here" and "ugh i need my break now". Save it for the break room please!!! No one is ever around to help in the aisles when you need it and honestly coming here has become unbearable. I now always shop at Big Y and travel 20 minutes away just to avoid this place. Whatever changed here was NOT for the best and I will not return. read more

I generally go to the Springfield and West Springfield Stop N Shop and never have an issue. Michelle from the Springfield Stop N Shop is amazing. I made the mistake of showing my mom the Peapod program and brought her to the Holyoke MA one. I usually never have an issue with Peapod but of course since my mother was present I had to encounter the worst customer service associate of all time. First all the Peapod parking spaces were taken. I was one over. When Mary came out she asked me to move into one of the spaces that had opened. I don't drive due to an eye condition and my hubby had run in to get trash bags and antacids. I told her if she needed me to move, she'd have to wait a few minutes. She said no problem but then went inside and started bagging. I found my husband and went to her and told her he was moving the car and she was needed outside. I went to the cashier aside her to pay for the antacids my husband was holding but she didn't know I was there. She said with a smirk, "Now I'm going to take my sweet ass time." As she didn't know I was standing there, when I confronted her and told her she wasn't going to take her sweet ass time, she freaked out. It got worse when I advised that I'd be calling the corporate office and that I know those there quite well (I've called countless times to give people like Michelle from Liberty St Springfield MA compliments because she's wonderful) she began screaming and finally crying about it. The cashier kept telling her to shut up because she was acting insane as she then went to the male customers in line and said, "I'm glad you guys are here to see what's happening" attempting to flirt her way into getting people to agree with her. Well that didn't sit well with the customer service rep at the desk who then came over and tried to get her to stop until Brian the manager came out and sent her away. Now, to be clear, I don't want a freebie. I don't want a gift card. I don't need them. I don't expect them. I expect Mary to be fired. That said, Brian - the manager was polite and did come out and assist in completing the Peapod order. I also called corporate who as always answered professionally and was extremely polite. Out of courtesy, I advised I would hold off on posting this ordeal on SSR until I speak with the district manager to hear his/her plans to move forward. Hopefully, this will be handled quickly. I spend my money at Stop N Shop. I donate for any and all causes they collect for. They put up bags of food for Open Pantry, I buy them. They ask for $10, $20 for fighting hunger, I give it. In the last 5 years I've called Stop N Shop 20 times - all for compliments. This is the only time I've ever called with a complaint and it was a big one. I look forward to see how Mr. Schlicker's associates handle this or if I have to reach out to Carl Schlicker myself for proper resolution. read more

I love shopping at this Stop and Shop. The sales are always so great and always what I am looking for. Also love that there is a gas station on the same lot as the store which makes it very convenient. There is one worker in particular at the gas station that goes out of her way to make sure I am all set and help if needed. Her name is Lacey and she works in the mornings. I tend to shop late afternoons and evenings but always come and get gas in the morning but only when she is working. If she's not in her booth when I pull up I can always find her outside scrubbing away at the pumps. She always greets me with a big smile and a good morning no matter the time or how busy it is.
