It is sad that the Stop & Shop is Bloomfield is so dirty with trash and food on the floor. The outside of the store is just like the inside dirty and filthy. I don't understand why people want to work in such deplorable conditions. Just wondering is there a store manager? Is there a maintenance person? Do you think the Bloomfield community want to shop at a clean store? Do you value your customers? Each time I go there it is just dirty and then I go to other Stop & Shop stores there is no trash, stores are clean and neat. Place is still bad. Filled with sad looking people everywhere- shoppers, workers, everyone. At 5:00 PM there were just three registers open with cashier lines up the wazoo. Seven lines open with the check yourself gizmos. Slow machines occasionally serenaded by recordings of "place your yellow onions on the belt". Lots of people throwing up their hands in disgust and bailing out on these snail paced lines. Why did I stop here? I was hoping to hit their salad bar for some veggies for an omelette. This stop and flop should just close down. It's a pig sty. Bathrooms are cleaner at gas stations almost throw up stink stink stink Customer service also sucks a big one one clerk to wait on 15 people. And so slow I could of closed on a house in less time. Some of the people that work here are incredibly nice and helpful..( meat department, deli, and a few cashiers are amazing) ..others walk around with a chip on their shoulder. What I also can't stand is while they did give it a facelift , and the it looks better, the store is still rundown compared to other locations. Hopefully more improvements coming soon read more

I'm from out-of-town and agree with the previous posters about the somewhat-sullen employees. I am usually running in to grab a Diet Coke and/or snack before I hit the road, so it doesn't bother me as much as someone who regularly shops there. However, early this week I needed a few flowers to bring to the Mt. St. Benedict cemetery just up the road. A REALLY NICE woman named Avril was in the floral department, and we actually had a nice little chat, which made me think afterwards that she should be training some of the others. Or maybe she just likes being Queen of the Floral dep't.... who knows? Anyhow, a big shout out to her! read more

It's... fine. It's gonna have to be, since this is the closest grocery store to my new house. But even in the few months I've lived here, this Stop & Shop location is far from my top pick. It's a decent spot to buy the essentials, but freshness has been an issues (produce in particular), and they rarely have more than a couple registers open so expect long lines. read more

I've shopped here for years and have been told by more than one that I'm bougie. Prices are comparable to any other Stop & Shop. This store is not filthy nor are the employees rude. My only complaint would be that the clock above the exit has been broken for years. If you go there to see what time it is then you can give this a one star. read more

I am only writing a review because while just checking for the stores hours I seen some pretty poor reviews of this stop and shop. I will say this isn't the worlds greatest stop and shop. If you go to your more affluent towns you will see if they have a stop and shop it will rival the cleanliness of a Whole Foods grocery store and have greater selection. I don't feel this place is dirty or have I ever experienced a rude employee. My wife takes her mother here for pork, beef and other proteins and she much prefers to buy that there than the Asian market (they are Vietnamese). Between stop and shop and Adong those are the two places we shop. And this place is some where between 3 and 4 stars but it's perfectly acceptable grocery store to shop. read more

Do not shop here if you can avoid it. Prices are insane and the staff are unfriendly, outright hostile, and rude. Go to Geissler's, Price Chopper or even Wal-Mart. Anywhere but this Stop & Shop. The employees are unhelpful at best and are quick to make you feel like an inconvenience when you ask a question. I often use the self checkout just to avoid interacting with them but god-forbid you are buying something that needs employee approval like medicine or alcohol. A few times I have bought meat there, especially pork, and have gotten Home to cook dinner only to find the meat is bad. The stench that came out of the packages is horrible. The packages were purchased days before the "sell by" date. Today we were there and were looking at the expiration dates on the Chobani yogurts as we were putting them in the cart and found a couple that expired on 10/2017..ummmm, 2 months ago?? They need to really step up their game and start checking their dates and quality of food. read more

The Stop and Shop in Bloomfield is the absolute worst one I have shopped in the state. The store is not clean(floors are dirty, meat appears spoiled and the trays are dirty, cluttered not organize, fridge has open vegetables spilled). Unfortunately, I no longer wants to shop in that area and prefers the Glastonbury which is quite a contrast, fresh food, vegetables, meat ( not the smell of rotten meat) clean, helpful staff and well organized. Contrary to the belief of this society, people of color have standards, want to purchase fresh items, have a decent place to shop. This is one of the worst grocery stores of this size I've ever shopped at. Most of the employees aren't very helpful. The place seems to always be packed with people who stand in the aisles poking at their phones or standing where it's difficult to get around them. My main complaint is the horrible smell from the meat department. I won't buy anything there because it smells like rotting meat. I've started driving further to go to another store mainly to avoid the bad smell from the meat department. read more

I usually do my shopping at Geisslers in Tunxis however I stop by here whenever I need to go to Lowe's or anything in that area. Their grocery selection is definitely bigger than Geisslers and the butcher shop has a bigger and better variety too. It has the essentials and a little more but as mentioned in the other reviews, customer service is lacking. There was one cashier open at 8 pm and a long line for it. I will stop by here if I am ever in the area but Geisslers is more convenient (at least for me) and has the essentials. Geissler's definitely has a better customer service AND i can pick up a rotisserie chicken and what not for dinner while I shop. Overall, I'd say this is an average supermarket with poor customer service. Unfortunately, one of the better ones in the bloomfield area. read more

No matter what day of the week or time of day I come in here the service is always excellent. All the store staff there from the cashiers to the people at the customer service desk are friendly and courteous. There isn't any of that "I hate my job, I'm having a bad day so I'm going to take it out on you" kind of attitude here. The cashiers are very pleasant and I've gotten to know a couple of the veterans there over the years. No matter what, they always seem to have a smile on their face, even when dealing with a bitchy or rude customers at times.. and there are some there! Some of the lines can be a little slow-moving at times, but if your not in a huge rush then its not really that big of a deal. For those of us who are retired or even semi-retired like I am, we don't have the urgency of rushing in and out like maybe some people might. Of course there are always sales on a variety of different items. Last week, it was all of your standard Superbowl Sunday foods. Next week it will be something different, it all varies by week. The one thing which I do not typically buy here though even if it is on sale is produce, for a couple reasons: a) I have found that similar fruit (and veggie for that matter) items are actually cheaper at another store I shop at. and b) there have been a couple of times when I've found fruit which appears like it belongs in the trash instead of out for sale to the public. In all fairness however, whenever this has happened, the store staff have always been obliging and very apologetic. Nothing is perfect 100 percent of the time and there are bound to be a couple of 'rotten apples' (pun intended, lol) which do occasionally slip through. The one thing that really makes this store stand out for me though, (actually any Stop & Shop location) is their meat and poultry products. Whether its ground beef, chicken or when I can afford it, seafood, I feel like there quality is in unsurpassed. When I compare there ground beef or steak products to other stores, I feel like Stop & Shop quality is better. The meat actually taste like meat, instead of other stores where it can sometimes taste like your chewing on sponge or ever rubber for that matter. I've also found there is more actual meat product instead of just a lot of grissel or fat, which means you essentially are getting more bang for your buck. When your buying sirloin steak, prime rib or whatever else, you are actually buying exactly that and not just something that looks like it, but instead you have to trim all the fat off. The same could be said for their poultry, I feel like in general its a lot more tender and just a better quality overall. Last, its also refreshing to know exactly where everything is when your in the store! Everything is clearly labelled in all of the aisels and the layout of the store in general is pretty organized. You have similar type items, i.e. paper products and cleaning supplies grouped together in one part of the store and everything else has its own designated aisle or space. That really does make it much easier to find certain things. Although I've been coming here long enough now that I should already know where everything is by now, to the point I could probably grocery shop blindfolded and still find everything. LOL The only improvement which I would suggest is newer shopping carriages. Badly! Some of the wheels on some of them are either really squeakey or just don't swivel and steer well and it makes it very difficult to steer your cart. But overall I like this location, even if a few others here on Yelp seem to disagree with because of there own experience which they have had read more

Decent selection and array of products. BUT - when I was in recently they were having a problem with the registers. They suspended my transaction and asked me to go to another one. No big deal. It went through and I was on my way. A few days later I realized that they double charged me. I called, and the manager explained the process. I went in and the person at Customer Service told me she'd be right back - there was a form she needed in the back. I waited for 20 minutes. She comes back out, apologized, told me she forgot about me because she has a cold (?) and finished the paperwork. I was appalled. I was there because they screwed up, and then told I was forgotten about? Crazy. read more

ALways busy, thank god I have direct deposit because the customer service line is always a mile long. Not a fan, and would only go for last minute or emergecy items. No offense to Bloomfield, but I really can't find one place I actually want to shop. Rather drive toward home and shop in West Hartford, less trashy and better selection of stores. read more

This is just like every other Super Stop and Shop I have ever been two. It is set up the same way and carries just about the same products. However they never seem to have enough staff on the check stands. There is almost always a long wait when I am there at either the human or electronic check stands. Meanwhile the West Hartford Stop and Shop which is 1/3 the size is just as busy and has hardly any lines. read more

very poor customer service, I shop there just for convenience and to get the gas rewards, the store is on organized and they had a security guard that was rude because he thought one of my item was not checked at the self check out line, he took all the can goods that i was buying and then check my receipt as if i was a thief , then call an associate who confirmed that the items were indeed payed for base on the receipt . that security guard needs to be fired or be retrained . my experience at the store was horrible i will try to use another location if possible. i guess i am asking for too much when it comes on to customer service and some respect. read more

This place always smells like old rotting fish. I've been living in the area for 3 years now and I avoid this store as much as possible. I only go when I am too lazy to go anywhere else, and sometimes even then I won't go, I'll skip watever I 'need'. It smells throughout the entire store. The service is mediocre at best. Most of the staff lack in any sense of urgency and they mostly have that lazy, low class "I don't care about anything or anyone except me and my friends" attitude. And I'm not talking about the high school age kids working...I mean the adults also. This attitude is characterized by them having to finish their personal conversation before they acknowledge you standing there ready to be checked out. Also their general lack of pleasantness, they don't smaile nad they seem annoyed by anyone who is shopping. (An overall theme in Bloomfield) The lines are ALWAYS long at check out even at 9:30 on a Saturday night...who knew Stop and Shop was a local hot spot! ::insert sarcastic smile here:: The pricing is more expensive than other area stores but is comparable to other S&S stores. POutsde of the disgusting permeating smell in every corner of the store it seems to be clean but that smell makes me wonder and look harder for lurking problems. Overall a bad place to shop...I prefer Price Rite down the street 2 miles or Big Y 5 miles away....S&S may be 1/2 mile form my house but it's not worth my business! read more
