Stop & Shop should actually be called "Spot" & Shop. I mean how on earth did we ever cross "Hairs" with food and animals? A few years ago there was an explosion of service animals on scene with the introduction of the dog harness and what the owner would show which was an official ID. Nowadays I am sure this doesn't happen and stores like Stop N shop, Home Depot and even Restaurants now embrace the dog at the dinner table. The Hotel bed with embedded animal urine in the mattress seems normal. I watched a lady with her pet dog resting in her shopping cart (picture enclosed) mixed in with fruits and vegetables. Then I watched her put some items back on the shelf. This is discusting!!!, and the store needs to reevaluate the safety of our so-called fresh food around environmental animals as pets. This review is not about hating the personal pet, but the sanctity and safety of our groceries. I live in Amityville 3 months out of the year. I shop at Stop and Shop because it is within walking distance. NOT because it is a wonderful experience. There are 2 checkout people who are excellent...It might be only one now because Cissi seems to be gone. That leaves only Nuri who makes sure you are getting all the discounts you are entitled to. There is one checkout person who has, on several occasions, rung up an item, and placed it on a small shelf on her side of the checkout belt. Gee I wonder why she does that...NOT. She is also rather nasty. The robot needs to be reprogrammed because it will run into shoppers on occasion--someday a customer is going to trip and fall and good bye robot, or good bye Stop and Shop. I enjoy this supermarket more than the other ones around. Huge aisles, loads of selection. It's not cheap when it comes to prepared produce, but you pay for what you get. They have a robot going around haha. Took me a second to figure out what was going on. Love that they have the kids cars for my son. He really enjoyed that when he was younger. read more

I'm in this store weekly and decided to finally write a review. The store itself is clean but is mismanaged. For one, pricing and sales are always a problem. I'm at the counter every week with a pricing discrepancy. You also have to check the item marked sale dates as they constantly forget to remove signs and a lot of times they don't even have the item thats supposedly on sale. Last, the store never has enough help at registers and most of the staff that are working are unfriendly. You either have to wait on a line of 20 people to do it yourself or wait in line for one of the two open registers and get attitude. If another store was local they would get my business but besides a small market they're unfortunately the only supermarket around. read more

The better grocery store compared to the rest in the area. Super convenient that there's a Starbucks and a bank near the entrances. I love the way the aisles are set up. I've tried Shop Rite and the way it's set up literally gives me anxiety. Everything here is logically placed, at least it seems that way to me. The prices here are certainly not cheap at all but I tend to only buy things when they are on sale or if I have a coupon, that's how it makes it not horribly expensive. I avoid buying any household necessities like paper goods, shampoo/conditioner and such because of how inflated the prices are. They tend to make their "Natures Promise" products cheaper than the name brand items so you'll be spending more for Land'o'Lakes than for their ORGANIC product. It's pretty clean and if not, there's always someone checking the aisles for cleanliness anyway. Most of the employees are not sociable at all though. They all seem like they hate their jobs and seem uninterested in anything a customer has to say. Another downside is their produce. They advertise on TV how they have "every day low prices on produce." But, you have to sift through all of their produce to find a just okay item and I have that issue with Strawberries, blueberries, apples, potatoes, cucumbers and others. It seems like they just put everything they get on the shelves even if it's no good. read more

The Amityville Stop & Shop is pretty decent, and convenient. The bread and muffins they sell at the bakery are delicious, and I also love the Starbucks coffee kiosk by the bakery. However, I have a few complaints about this location in Amityville. One, being that the deli counter is complete madness, because it takes forever for the deli order to be ready. The self check out area is no longer divided into sections, as it used to be, and it's pretty sad that we now have to be cramped into a small area, just to purchase and finish shopping. Not to mention, that the self-checkout cash registers are faulty. Finally, I don't like the bathrooms that much, because they smell, and they're not the cleanest. I can actually smell the virus from inside the stall. Giving this store three stars, because there are some pretty good things about this store. There are friendly people who work here too. The worst supermarket. A few days before Thanksgiving, when people were doing their shopping, there were only 3 checkouts opened. The store had people waiting in line all the down the food isles. The self check out was inundated with shoppers in a huge line. People were arguing and people were leaving with full carts left in the store. Never seen such a mess before. This store has ongoing problems with stocking shelves and not very clean. This store needs to be taken over by a better chain of supermarkets. The people who are in higher positions should all be terminated. Never again will I shop at this store. read more

Great supermarket. They take customer concerns seriously. Very clean and well stocked. Produce always looks great and they offer a wide selection of baked goods as well. There is a Starbucks kiosk inside and the carts have built in cup holders in case you want to enjoy a coffee while you shop. As for the other review complaining about the produce, I think you will find bad produce at just about any supermarket depending on what day you go there. Most supermarkets get deliveries once or twice a week. So depending on the time of year, the produce may stay looking great until that next delivery day, and sometimes not. My advice would be to ask them what day they receive their deliveries and plan your shopping trip accordingly. Same advice goes for meats and seafood. The shining star of the store is definitely the deli counter staff though. Always friendly, fast, and accurate. They always offer a slice of whatever deli meat you are getting which is awesome, but the thing that I MUST compliment is that they make a mean hero. Everyone there is great. I enjoy this location better than other nearby stores - THE STAFF HERE ARE HELPFUL, CARING AND HAPPY INDIVIDUALS! That to me is so important especially when you try and save money and clip coupons - sometimes I miss out on saving during my shopping and when I check out, the cashier on multiple occasions has pointed out to me whether if I buy more of a product or if a different brand is on sale just to ensure I was aware! I've also called in for stock on certain products and they literally held boxes of them at CS for me. LIKE I SAID BEFORE MOST S&S I've been to have been similar experiences (nothing great nor terrible) but this location takes the cake when it comes to a go to Grocery Shop, IM HERE! The only thing I do wish for is if S&S could extend their hours till midnight or even 1am like Pathmark - I'm a night owl and I've been forced to shop elsewhere at times just due to the 11pm close time 7days a week. I typically go this this Stop & Shop location at least once a week for my orange juice fix. It's more or less a typical Stop & Shop: large selection, decent sales, malfunctioning self-checkout machines, and a mix of different personalities. Even though I've never ordered anything from the bakery, one of the people there always greets me when I'm in that area. The people in the pharmacy department always seem happy and vibrant, and I see them often since it's located right next to the orange juice section. There's plenty of parking space, though the lot can get very busy during holidays, which is to be expected. Something that always bugged me about this place is that there aren't any paper towels in the bathroom. There's a pitiful air dryer that takes about 5 minutes to dry a single hand, but it's usually not worth the effort to use it. Having to grasp the door handle with a wet hand almost completely negates the positives effects of washing. Overall, this is a good location. It's spacious, well-stocked, and not crowded in the mornings. There's even a little cafe area at the front of the store. I'm sure I'll be back in there for more orange juice soon. read more

My God. The absolute worst customer service anywhere. My favorite Stop and Shop story is this- after a particularly heinous experience shopping I went to check out. One of the management team members was bagging my groceries. She made a comment about how I had "the most expensive bagger ever" while bagging my groceries. Seriously girl, step aside, I will bag my own. And I assure you, THEN you will have "the most expensive bagger" ever. I so dislike the nasty attitudes. I typically will bypass self checkout in stores so that I can support the team members who need jobs. Here I prefer self checkout so I don't have to deal with the awful checkers. I have been going to stop and shop in amityville since it was finest, then Edward's and finally stop and shop. All I can say is that this establishment used to be good but after this pandemic this place went completely down hill. You are going to tell me that you are going to close at 8PM to stock and at 8am there is no paper towel, toilet paper, napkins, garbage bags, cat food, pasta and the list goes on. The only thing available is soda and water I guess that is what we will live on. This is a place I visit at least six days a week and now that my son turned three years old today and he's finally asleep I feel obligated to write a review. I spend hundreds of dollars here each week and I won't be going back. I was in a day ago and asked for the price of lobsters and it was given to me and said that it would stay over the holiday which I experienced a gentleman at the counter had really no clue. I didn't said why did the price changed. He stated I don't know what to tell you. So I made the trip for nothing for family and a few clients as being executive chef and a personal executive chef having the next day off with my son. I then said forget it I'll go to the wholesaler give me some oysters so I can get a seafood fixed tonight. He stated OK put a tray on the scale and they came up $31 a pound. I can go by six dozen for that price I stated the price is very wrong. He tried another one that came up scallops jumbo wrapped in bacon $30 a pound. At that point I was amused and disgusted and let him know your prices are way off. He then stated I don't know what to tell you about the oysters and I said they should be charged per each per half a dozen or dzn. I was then told I don't know what to tell you and he walked a way leaving me at the counter by myself. Just wanted to get home and give my son dinner after a long day so I grab some premade scallops wrapped in bacon which were horrible and I was charged an extra three dollars which was mislabeled which I went to the counter and told the woman this is what happened and she was happy to refund me. She said there is the general manager let him know what happened. So I did and he said I will go have a talk with the young gentleman and walked away. No help with the problems that I had just I will have a talk with him. That is disgusting customer service I've been in a food and beverage industry for over 25 years and never experienced anything of that nature. I never buy seafood there unless it's for myself in a pinch because they are not knowledgeable. With that being said they should know how to treat customers and I've never experienced anything of this nature in my entire life at 45 years. I wasted an Exter hour of my time with my son's third birthday trying to deal with immaturity and unprofessionalism. I will not deal with the store again because that was an utter shame and matter how busy you are and I have been there you always put customers first and try to resolve a problem not just walk away. It was a huge disgusting display I've been patronizing that store for over three years and have a Lotta good people there that I know by name and now when I dealt with today had a clue how to run a business. I hope this reaches everything and everyone in a good way so they have proper training and proper knowledge. So disgusted on one of the happiest days of my life and trying to treat a customer on my free time by going out of my way and provide for my family by making lobster rolls ahead why can't even be with them. Went here today to get my girlfriend flowers for Valentine's Day . So I take the flowers that are pre wrapped out of the bucket, and bring them to the lady to wrap them again real nice. The flowers look great at the top, and they did do a good job wrapping them nice. Once I get home we go to put them in a vase, and I guess shame on me for not looking, but the stems and leaves on the stems were all BROWN! Flowers were 3/4 dead, and for Valentine's Day!? The flowers looked as if they were sitting out for weeks, you would think a "florist" would be more prepared for a day like that. I would not recommend this to anyone, better off going to an actual florist like I usually do. read more

I want to give them a better review but my issue is with the pricing. On multiple occasions I bought things that were supposedly on sale and when I go to check out, I don't get the sale price. Perfect example is the boneless chicken breasts. Sale price 1.88 and it rings up at 2.49. Bought bananas that were supposed to be 49 cents a pound. Get home look at my receipt and it rang up 79 cents per pound. It also happens multiple time with items on the shelves. The positive thing about this store is mostly all the people who work there with exception of a few in the meat dept are very nice. That's what keeps me going back!!! read more

I have literally visited this store on at least 12 occassions to purchase a rottisiere chicken and found zippo! No matter what hour of the day including lunch and dinner hours when you think they would time having them cooked and putting them out so the "meal" crowds could get the chickens. I used to be a loyal Stop and Shop customer, and had no complaints till a rude employee in the Deli Department let someone cut in line in front of me with out a number, after waiting over 10 minutes on line, I said to the employee that the guy had no number and cut in line, the employee said to me do not make my problem his problem, I walked out of the store and took a ride to Farmingdale and joined BJs, and I am a regular customer at the Fruit Tree in Copiague, the fruit tree always has fresh salads, the salads are better, and the cost is lower. I walked up to the deli department at the Stop & Shop about 9:45 in the morning to purchase some coldcuts. A man, an older man ,named Pat, asked what I needed . I asked him if he had turkey breast, he said yes .I said what kind do you have? At that point he rolled his eyes , and said" what do you want me to do read you the whole list"? In a very nasty tone. Even the woman standing behind me online , gasped and said oh my God! I said to him you're very rude I don't let people talk to me that way. Then he said oh you have a problem I said well I won't have a problem after I speak to your manager. He said "oh no problem, I'll call him " and he called his manager and as his manager came out he shouted as he pointed to me and said "she has a problem with me!" The deli manager listened to what happened and apologized for the guys behavior. Afterward, I called the store manager , a man named Dennis Roos. After telling him what took place and also saying that I planned on calling the " corporate" office, he asked me if I would please wait and let him handle the situation. He begged me not to call. He asked if I would come back in the store in a couple of days and he would tell me how he handled it. I did just that! When I spoke to Dennis, he said "I handled it". He said he spoke to the guy in the deli department and the guy told him he didn't realize it came off that way we didn't think he came off the bad! I really couldn't believe that's all he did! When I asked him what the guys name was he said his name is Pat I said what's his last name he goes oh I don't know I said you're the manager of the store and you don't know your employees last name. He said sorry! he didn't seem like he gave a damn about it anyway! I said you're the manager you asked me not to call corporate that you would handle it and literally did nothing . I said well I guess I'll call corporate anyway he said "have a nice day"! so be careful at Stop & Shop in Amityville New York because they can be rude and un accountable for their rudeness I will be calling the corporate office! four times in the last two weeks the "12 items of less" line has not been open at 11:30 am...complaints regarding this go ignored. once I asked for a cashier to open and was told I'm closing "see you later"...complaints to store mgr and floor mgr do nothing but get you dirty looks! so if your in a hurry depending upon "Corporate Policy and customer Concern" and the 12 items or less cashier/line to be open/available "FORGET IT" nasty looks is all you will get....Going to "Best Yet" from now on friendly and never their express 12 items or less line is not available....they are the "BEST YET" and display it!!! read more
