Great place for a big hearty breakfast, a good cup of coffee, a beer, and friendly service.

This is the perverted bartender that sexually assaulted us . Ladies traveling alone or in female only groups, AVOID THIS CAFE!!!

Walking by with my two girlfriends, this place looked fun. The music was good , people were dancing , and all we wanted to do was have some drinks and dance. As soon as we get to the bar, the bartender is making fun of our "American accents " and hands us our drinks. So we kind of laughed it off and went to get a table and started dancing. Throughout the night one of their bartenders kept touching our shoulders, back , and hair. He later came by and started rubbing a bottle opener up and down the middle of my chest as well as my friends. Again we let that slide. The last straw was when we were in the bathroom he was exposing himself in the men's bathroom right next to us ( the door was open and next to the woman's bathroom) saying the most disgusting inappropriate things! Right as I was going to tell my friend we have to go he comes by again and grabs my chest! I told him to never do that again and we left. There was no one to report to or bouncers to tell so I feel as this is the only way to get the word out. Ladies especially if you're traveling alone, AVOID THIS CAFE! The bartenders are disgusting perverts!! We went to many other cafes and bars and didn't experience this type of behavior. If you're in Amsterdam do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!

Ah, Stones. You hold a special place in my heart. I've been through Amsterdam a couple times now and each time starts, almost ceremoniously so, with a stop at Stones Cafe. The pleasant, laid-back, chill atmosphere is great. Some other coffee shops in Amsterdam fill the air with low-volume house music (and sometimes not so low-volume), black lights, and other assorted distractions - and it is when you want that vibe. But when you want a laid back relaxed vibe, Stones Cafe is the place to go. I've been here when they've been empty and when packed with customers, and the vibe doesn't change. Other customers will make you feel like you're amongst friends, or will leave you be, determined by your own vibe. If you want to sit with a cup of coffee and a smoke and chill, have at it. If you sit near a group and chat them up, you will feel like you've found long lost friends and are just chilling out while the lighter gets passed around. The staff are all very friendly, polite, helpful, and welcome any and all questions you might have, including questions regarding the laws and taxes (the staff are quite knowledgeable and field these types of questions more than one might think). If you're an amateur like me, the staff will roll your purchases for you upon request. Overall Stones Cafe is a great place! It is always my first stop in town (well, after dropping bags off at the hotel) and will remain so for there is no better way to sit back, have a cup of coffee, enjoy a smoke, just relax and enjoying just "being".

Cute place next to a church in the red light district. English breakfast was good and $9.95 . Coffee is like 3 euro but it was a good experience for breakfast. The patio was nice with only one panhandling dude the whole time.

I needed a quick lunch on my way back to Schiphol to catch a train to Brussels and this was the perfect spot. My boyfriend and I each ordered a sandwich (I got the smoked salmon, my fav) and tea and then we split an order of fries. The total was about $27 which was cheap and just as satisfying as our $85 Argentinian dinner the night before. The sandwiches were huge and very filling. Disappointed that I didn't come here earlier this month when I visited again but I'm sure I'll be back sometime soon :)

Fast bar tenders good music and perfect atmosphere. You can't buy green here but you can smoke it here while having some drinks. My boyfriend and I loved this place!

This Coffeeshop has an awesome vibe and a super friendly, knowledgeable staff. Located just minutes from Central Station makes it a great place to unwind after a long flight into Amsterdam. The menu is very green and always fresh. This Coffeeshop has a really nice laid back homie feel to it. They also have a no Tobacco smoking policy which makes the air much more pleasant to breath ;)

Very good quality stuff and cheap to be a coffeshop in centre of Amsterdam. Very small place, the team is cold but professional.

Unfortunately there is some sort of issue with the government and noise in the Red Light district which is super stupid so the music can't be turned up very loud.

After a late dinner at Coco's Outback, my bf and I decided to for a walk around Rembrandtplein…read moreplaza. Most of the establishments looked pretty quiet and dead except for Smokey and the club next door. Since we weren't in the mood for clubbing, we decided to go to Smokey. The moment we walked in, I noticed that it totally lived up to its namesake and was totally... smokey. Too smokey. It almost seemed like there was a fire going on inside. The place was pretty packed and busy, but we managed to snag a little bar table by the door. It was next to the vending machine for ciggies and under a large clock, so I could keep tabs on exactly what time it was. :) I sat on a high bar stool by the wall, while my bf sat with his back towards the room. It wasn't the best position for him to be in, as people kept bumping into him as they were walking by. He got a beer, and I ordered a mint tea because I didn't feel like drinking any more alcohol. I loved how the mint tea came with tons of fresh mint leaves. Totally awesome. They also gave me a Pickwick English tea bag with it, which I didn't bother to put in, as I didn't want any caffeine so late at night. We left after only one drink, as we were tired and the place was too smokey to hang out for long.

Don't get the wrong idea, y'allz. I was an OBSERVER, not a participant…read more I've actually put off writing alot of my Amsterdam reviews b/c I don't want my "good girl" image to be tarnished (Hi Mom!). Let's just say I observed certain recreational activities in Amsterdam that I think the world should know about. Amsterdam is brand spankin' new to Yelp, after all. So they need all the reviews they can get. Smokey's is smack in the middle of Rembrandt Square, which is a haven for tourists. The inside resembles an above ground neon-lit cave. Pool tables in the back. Music videos playing on the flat screens. Every time I hear Kid Cudi's "Memories", I think of this place. Everyone stopped what they were doing to sing along :) Tables are communal. Most patrons are college-aged. They have a zig zag vending machine and they sell pre-rolled or bagged product. According to my traveling companion, their merchandise was much more pricey than at neighboring coffee shops (like Rokerij, which is awesome), but since Smokey's is a better hangout spot in a more central location - you pay a bit more. The quality is mediocre, though. I enjoyed a 4 euro pineapple strawberry smoothie at the bar. They don't serve alcohol here though, only smoothies, which I found to be quite common in the coffee shops of Amsterdam. The folks behind the counter were pretty nice folks, too. Overall, I would recommend Smokey's for the younger crowd.
