I brought my car in for a routine inspection and they managed to add multiple scratches to my dashboard while removing the inspection sticker. Upon confronting them when I discover fresh scratches, there were two different treatment I received. The first person was apologetic mentioning that they were careful to avoid it but couldn't prevent it given how low my previous sticker was placed. The second person flat out denied responsibility stating that there is no way to tell if it was them, because my car was not a new car. I purchased my car off a lease from a dealer a year ago. The windshield was glue free and the dashboard was scratch free when I received it. I take care of my car personally, washing it every two weeks and cleaning my interior every month. Given that the scratches were directly under the new glue marks from the 2016 inspection sticker, I'm appalled at their denial of responsibility. I'm even more put off by their treatment of a customer. Lest to say I wouldn't be going back for ANY type of auto work. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. read more

Their customer service is non-existent. I took my car in and left it for an emission light on problem and they did not call me for 3 days. When I called them, the guy said that he would look it over. Then again, no calls for two days. When I call again today, the same guy (his name is Burger), says that he is waiting for parts. I asked him why I was not informed of the diagnosis and that he was looking for parts. He said he did not call me because he was 'waiting for parts.' Really? This is customer service? To keep the customers in the dark while you do whatever it is that you do? My car has been out of commission for the entire week. Then this guy rudely told me to take the car away. Tom noticed that my registration had my license plate number typed incorrectly and pointed me in the right direction to get it fixed. Stone's Auto Service is the place to go for an annual inspection sticker in Natick! Just walk into the office with your keys and registration. If you don't see a member of their staff, ring the bell on the desk. Someone will help you soon and let you know if/how many cars are ahead of you. Once your car has been inspected, they pull up in front of the office. Then, you just pay the fee and you're done. By the way, if the car isn't going to pass, they'll tell you what's wrong. I was sad to see negative review here so i thought I would give my experience. I came in at the end of June knowing I won't pass because I needed a muffler but thought I could get a rejection sticker and then get the car fixed. The gentleman informed me that the sticker I would receive I couldn't drive with so he said to get the work done and then come back. He didn't offer to do the work so he wasn't just looking to sell me something. I took the car over to a muffler place and got the repair done and brought it back for inspection. There was only a short wait and I got the sticker no problem. My car is 17 years old so there are different rules and they knew what to do. read more

I used to put up with the overpriced quotes and average car care, I'm not one to complain. But after screwing up an oil change (and almost doing serious damage to my engine in the process)? ... That was the last straw. If these guys can't even get oil changes right, DONT GO HERE. Screwing up an oil change for a mechanic is like if someone screwed up writing there own damn name on a check. It should never ever, ever, ever happen!!!! Turn away!!! (Or get towed away depending on your situation) There's a Direct Tire auto service place right off speen st nearby that does great work. I brought in my car to get inspected after sitting in the garage for the past 4 months, and at first the place seemed alright and I had a reasonable experience for a repair shop. As expected, my car failed the emissions test because the battery had been out of the car for a while (I learned this the last time my car was off the road), and I was told to come back within 30 days to get retested. When I came back I told the guy inside the office what was going on and handed him the previous test results. He appeared to be entirely baffled by the whole situation. He went outside and debated with two mechanics, before one of the mechanics came over and asked me what was going on. I explained the situation, and also mentioned that I'd like them to do an overall checkup to make sure the car is in reasonable working order. He scoffed at my request, and told me that they don't do any work transmissions, which he suspected was the source of the problem. After he did the emissions test again and my car passed, I asked him a second time about checking my car out and he told me he shut me down again. I've really never interacted with a mechanic so determined to deny service to a customer, and was extremely frustrated with the whole situation. I've had my car serviced at two other shops in the past 2 years and I've never had such an experience. If you're looking for service with a smile and motivated mechanics, Stone's Auto is definitely not the place to be. read more

VERY RUDE, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I was trying to get inspection sticker there. But because oxygen censor in my car have been changed not long before, they gave me "rejected" sticker as a monitor was "Not Ready". I drove my car for about a month, and then came back again. The guy (owner I believe, or manager maybe) took in my car, and got back to me in 5 min, saying that the monitor is still not ready. That time he already sounded frustrated, because I have not checked my car readiness at the shop where it was repaired, before showing up. Naturally, I went back to the repair shop again to figure out the issue. My car was checked, and there was no issue found that could prevent it from passing the inspection. I was given a paper stating that my car should pass now, as well hotline phone in MAC in case it's needed. I didn't go to the Stone's immediately, thinking that there was nothing to worry about now. But when I was back to the Stone's, mechanic seeing me parking my car, told me that one of the brake lights was not working, and I have to go fixed it and then come back. Of course, you cannot get a sticker with a brake light off, but when I just mentioned that they should have given me the sticker even at my previous visit, the guy got it as personal offence. In rude form he told me to get out and never come back. The owner/manager that I've have seen on my previous visit, the one who told me that my car was still not ready, hearing that, just supported his employee. Now, I am not a mechanic, and I do not know every single technical detail of that issue, but I don't think those guys have any right to take money, and then just tell you to get out because they do not like something that you say. I went here for a MA state inspection of my vehicle. After noticing a minor issue that would prevent me from passing inspection, the mechanic quoted me 3-4 hours labor to diagnose the problem... I left and went to a different auto repair shop where the mechanic effectively diagnosed the problem for free, ordered the replacement part for me and then scheduled a follow up appointment to do the quick 1 hour installation. read more

I brought my 2008 Lincoln MKZ in for a sticker (which I had done every year since I bought the car) I was told that the car would not pass because of a pin hole in the plastic back up light. I told the mechanic that it had been there for many years and that it was never a problem before. He told me that he would not pass it and the man that had passed it before was not working there anymore and that was the reason. I had spent many hundreds of dollars at their shop in the past year and I think that the lack of common sense and lack of discretion will mean that I will not be brining my 3 vehicles there again. I stopped at Stone's at 4:45, found the attendant and asked if I could get my car inspected. By the time he walked into the bay it was 4:46. He told me they stop doing inspections at 4:45 so I was too late. The inspection sign on the front of the garage says they do inspections from 8:00 - 5:00 M-F. I could not believe the "I don't care" attitude this person radiated and that he would not do the inspection. I will NEVER set foot in this place again. I saw some of the bad reviews, and had a great experience here, so I thought I should share. I went to Stone's for 2 car inspections. First of all, they were very fast at getting my cars in for the inspection. The first one passed with no problems, the second one did not due to a small problem, which they fixed, then my car passed and I was on my way. Additionally, another customer had an issue with their car that did not allow them to pass. Though it seemed to be a minor issue, they were honest and upfront, which is a very important aspect of a mechanic. I'd definitely go back! read more

"Service station"? These guys don't know the meaning of the word "service". I took car in for clutch work (yes, a 5 speed). I've been doing my own work on my cars for 20+years but now don't have the time or energy so I took this problem to Stones. Told the guy the master clutch cylinder needed to be replaced. He informed me that the car did not have one...I should have paid attention to my instincts and picked up the car but decided instead to let him drive it and see what he thought. He called and agreed it was the master cylinder. I thought the estimate was high but hey, the car was there and I didn't have the time to do it myself. When car was ready, I picked it up after hours -- it was apparent right away that the clutch was slipping with pedal all the way out. When I called in the AM, he said bring it in. He adjusted it and then clutch was too loose. I called and said adjust it to half way between and I'll be happy. He informed me, "There is no half way" and they were done -- no adjustments , no discussion. I shared a few choice words for with him, hung up, adjusted the clutch myself in 10 minutes...after I paid them over $250. Never again! Service with a smile is from a bygone era. P.S. I have never written a review in a forum like this but I was really irked by the attitude these guys manifested. read more

My car is almost brand new and my rear tire started ratting after a routine rotation I had done here. These guys over - torqued my wheels' lug nuts, and refused to fix the stripped studs. I went there for my sticker and they failed me with a red R for my exhaust without even looking at it, just by sound. I returned later to have them LOOK at my car to see what needed to be done to pass the inspection. They told me before I brought the car in the shop they could most likely patch the problem.He said this was some minor work, his exact words. When I called to find out what needed to be done, he tells me that it is $42 for the estimate and $634 if I wanted to get the WHOLE SYSTEM fixed which he said needed to be done to get the rejection off. To add insult to injury he did not tell me there would be a fee for the estimate until after the work was done.Then he refused to let me take my car if I did not pay him right away.
