Stoneridge Creek YELP Review We moved into Stoneridge Creek (SRC) two years ago, but not before spending several years planning this next step in our lives and visiting other retirement communities in the Bay Area and as far away as Davis. Some had good qualities but all were either too old, too small, too far away or had only limited amenities. We attended several presentations and luncheons about SRC and its ground-breaking ceremony in 2013. We were convinced this was the right community for us. In August 2018 we moved into a Phase II villa and we've been happy with our decision ever since. SRC is the fifth of seven planned communities with lovely landscaping and beautifully appointed living units including apartments, garden terraces, penthouses and villas. There are three different restaurants to choose from so you can enjoy formal, informal or buffet-style meals. In addition there is a huge choice of activities: Fitness classes, art classes, Bingo, bridge lessons, two swimming pools and two hot tubs, bocce ball, pickle ball, horseshoes, croquet, two pool tables, a choir, lectures and classes, excursions, holiday celebrations, monthly dances with a DJ or live band... something for every taste! Visitors often remark that it looks like we're living in a luxury resort or on a fancy cruise ship and we are! Of course, all of this was before COVID-19, but we know we'll return to enjoy all of these amenities again soon. Even more important is SRC's Continuing Care facility housed in a separate building adjacent to the campus called Creekview. It offers Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living and Memory Care to residents who may need these levels of care, either temporarily or permanently. What this means is that once you move into the Stoneridge Community, you're able to stay here until the end of your life while continuing to get the care you need. This past spring my husband had a mild heart attack and we needed that facility for his recovery from hospitalization and its Skilled Nursing and Home Health Care for rehabilitation. We were impressed with both the quality of care he received and the ease with which SRC arranged for each level of care. Living at SRC is like living in a small town where the Owners and Management make a point of helping residents feel safe and comfortable. Everyone is friendly and helpful; people greet each other with a smile; and neighbors watch out for each other. You get to know others by participating in classes, in activities and by dining together. It doesn't take long to feel at home. When COVID-19 first infected our world, SRC took immediate action to keep us safe and comfortable. They quarantined us and set up a health and safety check center at the entry kiosk and only allow residents, staff and essential health service employees through the gates. They closed the restaurants, but still deliver one generous meal per person a day to our doors. They put many fitness classes and lectures on Zoom, and encourage us to walk around the community with masks on while maintaining proper social distancing. They strongly encourage us to stay within the community by having Instacart deliver ordered groceries, and by arranging to pick up other supplies for us. They're doing everything they can to help us navigate through this pandemic as safely and comfortably as possible. We are happy to be here for the rest of our lives! Drs. We moved here almost a year ago. It is time to write down our experience and our thinking process of choosing a retirement community. We lived in Danville for over 32 years. After our four kids left home, we decided to downsize. Where to is the million-dollar question. We really didn't feel like going through the cycle of selling, moving, buying another house then selling and moving again. So we bit the bullet and decided to look for a retirement community and do the last move of our lives, even though we are relatively young - late 60s. We looked around. We knew we wanted a community with large spread of land to walk around and play sports, strong health care facility inside, close to everything we care about - food, ease to go to SF for shows and restaurants, within an hour of driving to any of our four kids in the Bay Area. The choice is very limited for all of these needs. Stoneridge Creek was it. Most other CCRCs  (Continuing Care Retirement Community) in the Bay Area are built around high rises with very little land around it because it is the Bay Area where land is crazily expensive. We just knew we didn't want to ride elevators up and down all day if we move there! After a year here, all of the above have been proven to be the case for us. But the biggest surprise about this place is the amazing people here. Because it is in the middle of the Bay Area, we have the most diverse, interesting, educated, highly accomplished residents here. We have made more good friends in one year here than all of our 32 years in Danville! Practically everyday we engage in deep conversations with some residents where we all learn from each other. Despite various restrictions due to COVID, we have been so busy learning pickleball, making new friends, getting involved in various committees, and even a solo concert. Just has been super fun. Our advice to people in similar position as ours: Don't wait too long. Move while you are still vigorous so you can learn new things and friends. Also you may not pass the mental agility test if you wait too long! Don't worry about your stuff in your big house. Believe me, none of your kids or friends would want your furniture or decoration. Donate them and let some other people enjoy them. Get rid of them and build a new life for the last 20 to 30 years of your life. Don't waste the most important years just because you can't part with your stuff. They are not important. We lived in a 7000-foot house, we thought it was impossible to make the move to Stoneridge. We are so happy now having done that. No gardener, no pool guy, no house cleaning, just spend time having fun. Do we, as residents, have worries about Stoneridge Creek despite the fact that it is just as great a place as any CCRC can be? To be honest, yes. Primarily because of yearly monthly fee increases which many residents worry about because of the uncertain nature of the matter. What makes me feel hopeful that we can reduce the amount of uncertainty is the fact that management and owners here seem to be willing to have more transparency and working relationship with some of our residents with deep background in finance, health care, management, IT, etc. I will come back here in about 9 months to report progress on that front. read more

I have been a resident of this lovely retirement community for over a year now, to be exact, it has been 19 months already. Time really flies when you are happy. We moved from Sunnyvale about one mile from the Apple Computer Spaceship office complex off Wolfe Road. We definitely prefer our current residence to our previous Sunnyvale home. This is a worry free, happy and independent adult living place, no homeownership worries at all - no home/fire insurance,all utility paid, no property taxes to pay, no ADT home alarm cost, no gardening expenses either and we have house cleaning service every two weeks. For me, no more headache and maintenance burden to take care my 20x40 pool with spa!! not to mention my liability to have such a big pool in the backyard. This place has such friendly and happy faces around you every day. We have made so many new friends here and participating numerous activities. Dining options are superb. As a matter of fact, we just came back from our Blue Danube river cruise today, our SRC food choices and services provided here to some degree are even better than our river cruise in our opinion. No wonder our friends here are saying that this is a cruise ship on the land!!! Better yet, we know we have CreekView facility available for us if we need skilled nursing care or God forbid, when we need assistance living care soon or later. We attended one of the marketing presentation in Santa Clara in June 2017 and then took an on site visitation opportunity the same week. We signed up on our first visit to be on the waiting list to take advantage for the new phase 2 living units. We never visited any other CCRC facilities around BayArea. Thanks to lovely Marketing rep Mary Repline's help, we got our dream choice in August and physically moved here in Feb 2018. We are so happy that we made such decision in such a short time even it did gave us a stressful time to downsize to move here. For the past 19 months, we continue to see improvements being made to the entire community. We have so many residents volunteered committees to make sure residents' voices are heard and working out with the management and administrative departments of SRC. I can write on and on for days to list all good things of living here in SRC. As a satisfied customer of Mary Repine, I am motivated to write a word of commendation for her excellent work she performed for my entrance into SRC, Stone Ridge Creek Continuing Life Retirement Community, two months ago. A few years after moved to the city of Pleasanton in 2003, I begun to search for a desirable retirement community that my wife and I can enjoy our retirement living together free of care. Quickly SRC was found as an excellent candidate for my search in terms of having long-term care without additional charge. Unfortunately, my wife was a very diligent person always kept herself busy in house works and taking care of grandchildren though all our children are already married and not living with us. She indicated to me that she just cannot tolerate visualizing herself taking easy all day long doing nothing in a community such as SRC. For this reason I put this thought of mine of living in SRC on hold for years since then. Suddenly and Sadly, my wife had passed away on Christmas day last year due to a severe stroke in her cerebellum. After her funeral I simply wanted to get away from our residence where it is packed with my memory with her in an attempt to be relieved somewhat from my grief of losing her. So in January this year I started to contact Mary Repine, Senior Residency Counsellor of SRC, for seeking my residency in SRC. Her first question to me was how soon do I need it and as soon as possible was my answer based on the above-mentioned reason. That was the beginning of a tedious long process of residency application that led to my successful settling in at SRC exactly two months ago. During this lengthy process I get to know Mary in many aspects, her character, her attitude of dealing with people and her way of fulfilling her duty. My impression of her is that she is a person so loving, caring, and considerate of others especially for her client such as me. The evidence of which is the apartment she picked for me was really ideal in terms of price location and size. I learned later that she is also a devoted Christian which is just a confirmation of her natural human virtues being expressed through her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am glad she is such a valuable staff of SRC and am happy to introduce her to my relatives or friends whoever interested in SRC to get an utmost help from her. H. C. I've been a resident at Stoneridge Creek for the past year. When I first moved in, I was lonely and thought that I had, perhaps, made a mistake. Then, I began to meet people and build my Stoneridge family. Last year, there were many activities and exercise options available daily. I'd take my dog, Nellie, to one of their three dog parks and meet up with other puppies and owners. Movies showed in their theater (with popcorn) almost daily, two swimming pools were open and I had a choice of three restaurant-style eateries to dine at each day with friends. Covid 19 and the Stay In Place order, has changed Stoneridge. Activities are more limited. Social distancing means I watch movies on my television rather than in their theater, but the management here has done a wonderful job of taking care of us. To date, no resident has contracted Covid 19. We still have lovely meals, but they're delivered to our door step to prevent the spread of the virus. Meetings and get-togethers have gone virtual (Thank you Zoom!) I'm still going to a couple of small book clubs. I still see other puppy owners when I take my dog on a walk. I still have loving neighbors who are there should I need them. Staff here is respectful and genuinely friendly. I had an unfortunate fall last February and could not get up to call for help. When I didn't make my daily check in, security staff came to investigate. An ambulance was called and I went off to a hospital. Without that oversight, I might have stayed on the ground for days. The hospital determined nursing care was all that was needed until my ribs mended and I was transferred to CreekView, a nursing, memory care, and assisted living facility on campus. My care there was excellent. I received nursing care, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. When I was ready to return, my apartment was waiting for me. So, I no longer worry that I made a mistake moving here. I look forward to the virus receding and Stoneridge Creek opening up to its former glory. In the mean time, I appreciate being so well cared for, having loving neighbors and staff around me, and living in such a beautiful environment! read more

Our last review was in January, 2020, and a lot has changed since then. Of course, the BIG changer has been COVID-19, which has affected our lives in many ways, both outside Stoneridge Creek and within. Stoneridge Creek management can't change what occurs outside of our community, but they have significant control of what occurs within. In my opinion, they have done a yeoman's job in reorganizing virtually every aspect of this community to meet government requirements, while at the same time modifying processes and procedures to reduce the negative impact on residents. And they continually fine tune them. Several examples of necessary changes from the 'old normal' are delivering food to our apartments because the dining rooms were closed. We would sometimes find surprise treats added to our delivered food. Artistic staff would sometimes decorate out food shopping bags with fun artwork. Our Activities department organized Zoom exercise classes when the exercise gym had to be closed. For the 4th of July, a western band on a flatbed truck was brought in to drive through the community, stopping periodically so residents could listen and dance. Our very adequate Pantry was put on steroids by adding many more items so residents wouldn't have to go out outside the community and risk getting affected. And, the purchased items are delivered! There are many more examples, some small, but all designed to keep our spirits up during these difficult times. One very positive aspect of this upside-down period we are living in is that many staff member's jobs were changed to provide the work needed to meet the new task requirements e.g., package and deliver food, deliver packages and pantry orders. etc. The result of this is has been minimal staff reductions. Staff members have been great through all of this by being pretty much there old, cheery selves. While we would much rather be operating as before, Stoneridge Creek is providing an exceptional 'modified' life style. read more

My father moved in just about 6 months ago. Stoneridge Creek has everything adult children could think of for their parents! They've got all the major needs (apartment, appliances, trips to grocery store, food service, EMS-certified Safety Officers staffed 24/7) and many finer details (linen laundry service, roll-away beds available for visiting relatives, name tags for each resident). Overall, SRC is a high-quality place to live. My dad is a widower, and he was used to being by himself before moving to SRC. Now, I see him make friends, get meals with other residents, and blossom in the social activities. It makes me happy to see him so comfortable and well cared-for at SRC. The campus offers a very active senior living community: sports, dancing, woodworking, quilting, crafts, gardening, and much more. All of these classes / services are included with the monthly bill, no surcharges (unless you get extra meals.) The dining staff are wonderfully friendly. The menu offers sophisticated dishes and comfort foods alike, each at senior-friendly portions. Special dietary needs are not a problem, as the chefs have special options such as gluten-free, low or no salt, dairy-free, and vegetarian. (Tip for if you visit and eat there: if you finish your water/beverage you will need to ask for a refill. The servers are awesome, but do not refill drinks automatically as servers in a restaurant do.) An added plus is the Excursions: outings to local events / attractions. Granted, Excursions are for a fee, but, SRC takes care of all transportation and planning. Examples include live theater productions, orchestra concerts, and factory tours. The campus grounds are beautifully kept by a diligent maintenance staff. Every employee I have met there has a friendly smile and have provided great service. Glad that we made the right decision to move from Santa Rosa after living there for 45 years to the Stoneridge Creek Retirement Community 2 years ago with its ideal location within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We were lucky to have a blend new 3 bedrooms unit up on the 3rd floor facing a courtyard and the outdoor swimming pool. Within the campus, there are many sport activities you can do. For us, we like to play tennis, pickleball, shooting pool and ping pong. If you want to be active in the community, there are 64 clubs and committees you can join, not to mention the many classes, lectures, concerts and outings that you can participating in. According to our friends who have visited us, they were amazed with the food we have in SRC. They said we are like living on cruise ships, except it is on land. With the continuous care facility right on campus, it gives us a peace of mind in case we do need that in the future. However, the thing we treasure the most is the many new friends we have made here. It is like living in a summer camp with your friends everyday!!!!! Finally, I have to say the management team in SRC has done a fantastic job in keeping all the ~1000 residents safe from the COVID19. Our daily meals are delivered to our unit.You can order groceries to be delivered without service charge. They even tried to entertain us with a dance troupe going around the campus, gave us thoughtful gifts and treats and called us on the phone to see how we are doing from time to time. Our New Life at Stoneridge Creek We just celebrated our one year anniversary at SRC in January. After living in our country home that we loved for 43 years, we moved into SRC, after making the decision that our house was just too big and too much to care for at this stage in our lives. We never expected to move to a Senior Community, however after visiting SRC and finding out all the benefits of a CCRC, it was easy to make the decision (but the move was NOT EASY). We couldn't be happier! We feel like we are on a perpetual vacation with endless opportunities for activities, exercise, intellectual stimulation, socialization, good food, health resources and safety. We love the convenience of so many opportunities right here on campus. We have more socialization here, have made many new wonderful friends and have the opportunity to join in new activities, new exercise classes we haven't done before, endless wonderful music programs, movies and excursions off campus to places like Filoli, California Academy of Sciences and more museums, sporting events, wine tours....on and on. We have our own community garden bed and hope to start using the wood shop this year. The three restaurants offer many dining choices, so the need to cook is minimal. Plus our maintenance needs are taken care of and we have a cleaning service bi-weekly. We are so happy at SRC and our adult children are happy that we are here as well. We have given ourselves and our family a beautiful gift by moving here, as we traverse our golden years in comfort and style! read more

I moved to this wonderful retirement community in April of 2019. My first contact with SRC was Mary Repine, a Senior marketing Representative. I cannot say enough great things about Mary. Since my wife passed away in 2018, my children encouraged me to move into a retirement community to ensure my quality of life would not be compromised. Having lived in my own house with my wife of my entire adult life, moving into a retirement community would have been a huge adjustment, both physically and mentally. And Mary made this change much easier and smoother than it would have been. Every step of the way, from the very beginning (intro to offering) to the end (moving into the community), Mary was there to make sure every aspect was done correctly and to my satisfaction. To minimize the challenges of adjusting to a new environment, Mary introduced me to many existing residents and superb programs offered on site. When I had a medical issue in need of a referral, Mary went above and beyond and put me in touch with the local Kaiser Care Team, which in terms solved my problem. I have been here for over a year and two months, Mary still checks in with me on a regular basis and see how I am doing. She's professional, punctual, extremely knowledgeable and always ready to help with much enthusiasm. I cannot imagine what my move would have been like without the assistance and friendship of Mary.
