Drawing room and exterior of the main house
    Ayanna A.

My husband and I spent a quick, one night stay at this lovely B&B before making our way to our family's home for the holidays. My biggest recommendation is to stay in a room in the main house, versus the newly built cottages on the property. The main house has the authentic feel that matches the property, and was the vibe we were looking for. It's also beautiful. The cottages didn't really blend with the feel of the rest of the property. The breakfast was nice and the hosts were very kind, as well.

I'm a Georgia girl and always will be. Even though I live in Vegas. After being away for about eight years, my mom and I decided to make a trip back and visit some old haunts and friends that still lived in Atlanta. I'm a major fan of cool discount travel... Jetsetter, Groupon, Living Social; that kind. I found an AMAZING deal for a suite here and after checking reviews, decided to go for it. Not only was it a great price for a really perfect location; it was also the biggest room in the house! And by house, I mean house. It used to be a house. We got here WAY early since we took the redeye but the owners were awake and cooking so they let us in, took our bags, and told us as soon as our room was open, they would bring our bags to our room. The house is GORGEOUS. We did some sightseeing (my version, which included a one hour drive to the sticks) and came back after check-in. There is never a lack of food and refreshment in this B&B. And the term B&B is kind of loose. It's like an upscale boutique/B&B. It has all the quaintness of a B&B and all the conveniences of a boutique hotel (and the cool factor). The innkeeper (Caroline, such a sweetheart) bakes some awesomeness every single day and puts it in the dining room for guests. There is a fully stocked cupboard in the parlor with drinks and cookies. Upstairs there are fixings for coffee and tea. There are books and movies scattered around. And unlike a regular B&B, the bathrooms are severely upgraded (and not the shared kind). Breakfast was an explosion of flavor (my attempt to sound really really pretentious but it was true) and we didn't feel forced to mingle with the other guests (even though we did). The location was perfect for us (right down the way from the Margaret Mitchell House and a Marta station); however, the house is a bit difficult to find. It is in a fairly residential area and everything with the word Piedmont gets confusing. Even for a former local. The house is also by Piedmont Park and a long-ish but beautiful walk from Virginia Highland. I absolutely adore this B&B and would love to stay here again next time!

How is this possible that I have not reviewed Stonehurst B&B?!! Well first off this place will forever hold a special memory in our lives. My husband Ross and I were lucky enough to have our wedding at this beautiful house. From the moment we walked in we knew this was the place..it was the first and only place we viewed. The staff and Barb took such great care of us and our guests. We rented the home out for the weekend but wish we could have rented it for the week. I can not wait to return for a nice stay and reminisce on our special day. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories

I love love love Stonehurst Place! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Piedmont room last night while staying in Atlanta on our way to North Carolina. The managers, Grace and John were extremely kind, sweet, fun, and welcoming and they shared with us the interesting history of Stonehurst. As someone who loves art, I was especially excited when John showed us the original Andy Warhol pieces hanging in the rooms as well. The bed, shower, robes, and heated towels were so nice and comfy, and the personal fireplace in our room made our stay extra special and warming. This morning, Grace made us a delicious two-course meal, and was kind enough to make mine completely vegetarian. I highly recommend staying at Stonehurst-- we will again!

The short 10 minute walk to Piedmont Park was a nice surprise and great restaurants were only a 2 minute walk away.

I am not familiar with the upper level/lodging area so my review is strictly on the lower level. The house is located in a residential area so parking is street parking. The area is the historic Old fourth ward. The space gives you the cozy I'm home feeling. The rooms are decorated in warm deep tones. The kitchen very bright and modern. I spent a lot of time in there and highly recommend the use of the kitchen for events. I was able to run and bar and chef cook at the same time with no overlap. The kitchen was also stocked with all the necessary essentials. It was clean and well kept. The ice maker came in clutch in the event we ran out of some. There was a small walk in closet that housed the laundry and cleaning supplies. The wooden tables in the eatery took the work out of bringing in additional seating. Right off the eating area was a small sunroom they led out to a backyard with additional seating and deck. We had a Dj in the front room and he was comfortably able to set up still leaving space to mingle near by. This is really a great gathering space if you want that home feel.

There were noise complaints from neighbors for EVERYTHING including having normal conversations in the backyard. There WAS a band inside that had to pack up early and many people just left the venue as the House Manager had a bit of a hostile approach to managing the situation. We are talking about an event that hosted some of Atlanta's elite, so not a rowdy bunch of school kids. It was a disappointing experience and I felt bad for my friend and his family that had traveled a long way for the event. That should not have been a part of their experience. I'd highly recommend the owner here review how the event space is being advertised, booked, the policies and how issues are addressed in a respectful and professional manner in the future. Disappointed. Maybe just keep it a bed and breakfast? It is a beautiful place.

Nestled in an unassuming…read moreresidential neighborhood, this magnificent microfarm and its beautifully manicured gardens, impeccably clean grounds, and hilariously entertaining animals offers such a whimsical and interesting escape from the hustle and bustle of the city -- it is an escape you surely will not want to miss. Marykay, who is by far one of the most interesting, friendly, and intelligent people we've ever met, greeted us with a fresh bowl of eggs hatched that same day from her flock of 25 chickens. The alpaca herd was visible from the nearby gate -- all were happily chomping away at a pile of orchard grass (which Marykay later informed us is the equivalent of alpaca pizza). They are inquisitive, yet a little shy, but if you respect them they will return the favor. Both alpacas, chickens, and cottage guests have plenty of space so as not to intrude upon one another. We opted for the Alpaca Experience, which is an absolute must-do for all guests. It is incredibly informational and as interactive as you'd like for it to be -- assuming you are putting the animals' needs ahead of your own. Marykay is incredibly knowledgeable and has literally built the farm from a small chicken coop to a very impressive, tidy, organized alpaca haven. It is very evident that all animals are so loved, respected, and maybe just a bit spoiled from time to time. All are rescued from varying degrees of past hardship but their new life on Marykay's farm is a blissful existence, as evidenced by their calm, enthusiastic, and curious demeanor. The cottage itself is adorable -- easily comparable to the spaces and vibes found in Garden and Gun or Southern Living. The refrigerator is stocked with all the conveniences of home, snacks and beverages are available for those late-night cravings, and coffee at the ready for early risers. Everything was clean, warm, cozy, and loved -- just like the farm animals. Dare we mention the alpaca fiber blankets available throughout the space? The entire experience is what you make of it. Should you want to hole up in the house (not recommended when alpaca/chicken watching is so entertaining and the spirit of the various flower/vegetable/dyes gardens being so alive, but who are we to tell you how to spend your time), Marykay will absolutely respect your boundaries. But, if you're looking to truly experience something unique, as her a few questions. You will not be disappointed. We travel often and book via Airbnb regularly, however no place has been quite as comfortable, unique, interactive, and interesting as Decatur Alpaca Farm. Marykay has created something so unique and heartwarming -- every open-minded adventurer should include this place as a stop on the bucket list. As for the casual traveler, a couple nights in her garden will erase all stress, even if the alpacas are not your thing. We did not want to leave.

And don't get me started on the majesty of the alpacas - my goodness!!! Feeding them carrots might be one of the highlights of the past decade. What a hidden gem right near the city of Atlanta.
