We ordered, moved to the next section for our drinks, utensils and sauces then went to sit down outside. Food came quickly. I had the petite trip tip with mash. Food came and my meat was stone cold. The butter on top would not melt at all since the meat was so cold I thought it must have come out of the refrigerator. Tried to wave down someone. Anyone. To let them know. I asked a busboy to please get my server. Never came. I got tired of waiting and got up to get a to go container and took my food home and heated it up so I could eat it. From the positive Yelp reviews, I was expecting juicy and flavorful ribs and tri-tip. I left feeling unsatisfied and am convinced that I won't be returning anytime soon. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch and was lucky enough to order before hitting any large crowds. Amazingly, this place was pretty packed. We ordered the tri-tip and prime rib combo, which comes with two breadsticks and the choice of salad or a side. I wasn't sure how the portions were, so we decided to go with this and order more if necessary. Tri-tip: I believe they offer barbecue or lemon garlic seasoning. We had the barbecue tri-tip cooked medium. The combo offered about seven thin slices. The texture was great- very tender! The flavor was completely lacking, so I drenched it in barbecue sauce. Problem solved. My boyfriend and I liked this item the best. Prime rib: EXTREMELY disappointing! The combo came with five ribs and every single one was charred. It wasn't appetizing because the first couple bites were bitter. The meat wasn't tough but it wasn't fall off the bone tender either. I also drenched every bite in barbecue sauce. Can you see the trend here? Garlic breadsticks: Nothing special. Garlic mashed potatoes: very, very dry and flavorless. I was expecting buttery goodness from all the reviews. This review is specifically for their Stimulus Package special they are running right now. I would actually like to give it 2.5 stars, but that isn't possible. Right now for $19.99 you get a pound of tri tip, a 12" 2 topping pizza, choice of small salad - garden, caesar, greek or cartwheel and 8 breadsticks. According to regular menu prices these items should come to around $34, so it looks like a good deal on the surface. I think they are skimping a little to be able to offer this deal. Tri tip was good, some was fatty, which I realize can happen with tri-tip, but when I've had their food before, there usually is no fat. We chose pepperoni and mushroom pizza, there was a decent amount of pepperoni, but not many mushrooms. The salad. Big disappointment, at least to me. I've had their other salads for take out many times, just not the greek one. IT said on the menu mixed greens, it was all iceberg, and not much in the way of toppings which included feta, olives, radishes, etc. The other salads I've had are usually heaped high with toppings, this one was way skimpy. I'm tempted to go back and order the same salad just off them menu to see what I get. All in all, it was still a good deal, and an affordable way to feed people dinner, just a little disappointing when stacked up to what I've usually experienced. read more

We tried STONEFIRE Grill tonight for the first time, it was ok. The Stonefire's steak and cheese sandwich was good, I just wish it had more of the Gorgonzola butter (mine had little to none). My husband had the French Dip Au Jus. The sandwich was ok, but the Au jus was delicious! And he is very picky about Au jus. However he wasn't crazy about the cowboy beans, according to him they tasted like pinto beans topped only with chili powder. Kid's meals are huge! Plus they come with a side and drink for only $4.99. Totally worth the money. The Mac and cheese was good, and you can tell it was freshly made. Not out of a box. And the kids pizza was DELICIOUS! We plan in coming back to try the tri-tip and ribs. It's imperative I wrote this review and explain my reasoning. No order from Stonefire all the time and love there BBQ tri-tip chopped salad. I always order a massive salad so I can have extras for the next day. Before I explain my experience this evening I want to go on about the great food items I continue to enjoy. Their chicken tastes great, but needs to come with lots of either BBQ sauce or the lemon garlic sauce as it always seems to be a bit dry. Good, but dry... I ordered a combo of 1/4 chicken and tri-tip and it was truly the safest thing I've ever seen. It was a massive container for the smallest amount of chicken and tri-tip. I refused to take a pic since I thought it wouldn't be fair due to my great experience this evening. Moving on to the taste of the tri-tip and other items, I highly recommend ordering the tri-tip no matter what you're in the mood for. You can never go wrong. They always cook it to perfection. Same with the ribs as well. I can go through multiple pounds of both for days. Never a disappointment. Now for the pizza. The pizza is awesome, but must be eaten ASAP after you leave the restaurant of taking it to go. I feel like it doesn't have much life left after, but still pretty awesome tasting. Don't sleep on the bread sticks and don't think you are ordering too many. There is no such thing. Their bread sticks are the most addicting carbohydrate I've ever experienced. You could eat 10 by yourself and not even realize what happened. It's like you blackout on the amazingness that is the bread sticks and go into a trance until your stomach feels like it's going to pop. You will probably go for more after that point as well. Take my word for it..... Now for my evening experience. I ordered for Valentine's Day and was super excited to indulge in a feast. I ordered and had some specifics that I needed to make certain were put into place. Specifically, tri-tip nbq chopped salad tossed with dressing on the side and NO tortilla strips. Unfortunately, when I got there they brought me a salad tossed with dressing and tortilla strips inside and chicken.... Was a bit of a pain. However, I mention this not to talk about what wasn't done, but what was done about it. I was met personally by who I assume was the manager, Tyler, who was very professional, apologetic and helpful. He was so quick to make things right that I didn't even think twice and completely forgot that there was ever an issue. The professionalism and overall experience by the staff and specifically Tyler deserves to be acknowledged and rewarded. I will definitely continue to go back to eat there, specifically at this location due to my experience. Just to be clear, the food situation was a 4, unfortunately, but the customer service is a stellar 5. I look forward to an even better experience next time and look forward to changing my 4 star to a 5 star. read more

We recently learned of a pizza that is not on the menu, it's called "Allison's Creation" and it's AMAZING! This is a vegetarian pizza and we did not miss the protein at all. Allison's Creation $13.99 small, $16.99 large Go for the large. $3 more for twice the pizza! I've come here so many times but never written a review. It just so happens that this time we ordered over the phone for pickup. It was very easy, no complications. We ordered the BBQ chopped chicken salad & a side of garlic bread sticks. Even though we noticed it was busy when we arrived for pickup, there was not a long wait and our food was ready as promised. My experience with Stonefire is always good. Service is great. Staff is very friendly, helpful. Restaurant is always clean. Their catering has been good every time we've ordered it. Another plus is they offer a few bottled beers when dining in. Also, its been a while since I ordered it so I'm not even sure if its still available but the Stimulus Package is awesome! Wow! Almost three years since I first wrote my review of this place. At that time, I did not visit Stonefire Grill. My company use Stonefire Grill's catering service. Now, I can actually do a review for the 1st StoneFire Grill in my life in Valencia. Located on Cinema Drive, you'll find StoneFire Grill. At first, you probably wouldn't tell that there was a restaurant because of the other businesses overshadowing it. Parking is the one major downside for StoneFire Grill. I don't know if StoneFire Grill expected this location to be a major spot, but it definitely is a hotspot during lunch. You can't park on the street, but if you find a spot, you'll be guaranteed to eat. I brought my coworkers along with me as a sign of "Thanks!" for introducing me to Stonefire Grill. Our cashier was Andrew. This time, I don't remember the prices, but it was consistent with what I usually order....Actually, it wasn't my order in the first place, it was my coworkers. We ordered Medium South of the Border with Tri-Tip, Half order of Mesquite BBQ & Pepper Garlic Tri-Tip with Medium Mashed Potatoes with, of course, breadsticks. I don't remember if it was Full Basket or Half Basket, but I can tell you that it was almost gone. I had never ordered Half Order of Mesquite BBQ & Pepper Garlic Tri-Tip Mesquite BBQ & Pepper Garlic Tri-Tip, but it would be something new to my menu after my last visit to Thousand Oaks' StoneFire Grill. The Pepper Garlic Tri-Tip was excellent. I believe it was served with a scoop of garlic which added tremendous flavor. As always, the South of the Border, mashed potatoes, and breadsticks were very consistent. However, one of my coworkers asked for extra Lime Sauce and Ranch Sauce...lol. I am usually just fine, but when you want the extras, you'll go all the way. I love my StoneFire Signature Sauce. I wonder StoneFire bottles their own sauce?! Overall, it was excellent to eat with my coworkers and actually write a proper review. The staff were great in servicing our needs and, more importantly, our stomachs. Without Stonefire, I wouldn't be a loyal StoneFire Customer/Fan. Now, I got a hankering for the breadsticks. This is a chain with six other locations in So Cal, it grills food, with a fast food sit down dinner feeling. You say, HUH? Well, you order at the counter and get your own silverware and drinks and seat yourself. You are given a number and the wait-staff brings the food out to you. We ordered two different combos, a Half Chicken w/BBQ and the Tri-Tip and Ribs meal. This comes with breadsticks and a salad. GREAT: * Tri-Tip - nice and tender, excellent flavor * Ribs - delicious, great BBQ sauce * Stonefire's Cartwheel Salad - good flavor and mix of ingredients * Breadsticks - lots of butter and garlic, YUMMM!!! GOOD: * Garden Salad - fresh (however it is mixed for you, I like to add my salad dressing for myself) NOT: * 1/2 Chicken with BBQ sauce - over cooked, burnt exterior, the texture was mushy. Did not "feel" like chicken, because it was WAY too soft, then it was too dry when we brought it home to eat as left-overs. We noticed that the Family Meal is the way to go. Lately I've been receiving emails from Stonefire to support local restaurants and place an order online or over the phone. They've also created packages that seem convenient to customers. My order yesterday was anything but convenient with this COVID-19 pandemic. Over the phone: I tried placing an order online yesterday at 6:30pm, I was able to customize the stimulus package to my liking with the exception of requesting plain breadsticks and my birthday reward. So I decided to call and place my order over the phone. I waited more than 5 min to speak to someone and the connection was bad so it took a while before my order was clear and correctly repeated back to me by the worker on the phone. I requested a walk in pickup because I was told he couldn't place my carrot cake order over the phone since the system wasn't working right. My order would be ready in 45 minutes because they were very busy. I arrive 40 minutes later because I didn't want my food to be sitting out and getting cold. At the restaurant: I wait in line and I see about 20 workers running all over the place not keeping 6 feet apart and walking up to customers inside and right up to the car window for those who placed a curbside order. But out of all of that I think the most disturbing part was witnessing everyone wearing gloves and no masks. Gloves that were used while the opened doors when going outside, on the cash register, on the phones, while packaging food in bags. I don't even think gloves get changed out when interacting with customers and then touching food. I understand they might be wearing gloves to protect themselves but what protection is given to customers? How is our food kept sanitary when everyone is hovered over each other! Well, after witnessing all this I'm helped at the counter, I request my carrot cake and the employee says they're all out. It was a very busy day and everyone was claiming their reward. Excuse me, but no one told me this over the phone. I was bothered by it because I was really looking forward to having their yummy carrot cake. Anyway, my food is sitting on the counter and I'm told my plain breadsticks are in the oven and it'll be 4-5 min, that I can wait in my car and the employee would take my order to my car. Waiting in my car: Fast forward 20 min, I've been distracted because an employee was talking to me in the parking lot after I inquired about a better system for letting customers know they're out of cake. I just wanted them to know I was bothered by the lack of communication. She then tells me she always suggests new ways of bettering their system to improve service and that management always lifts up their hands to stop her and says they're too busy to think about it! WOW!! I can't believe I just heard that. Management not listening to employee and customer feedback. After she finishes her rant I decide to walk in to check on my order, then realizing it's been 20 min since I've paid and come to find out my order is sitting on the wall shelves. Back in the restaurant: Apparently my order was ready and it wasn't taken to my car. At that point it was 8pm and I was livid. I request for a full refund because I now need to buy hot food for my family. The manager apologizes and gives me a refund, offers for me to still take my food if I want it. I look in the bag and notice I was never give plain breadsticks!! I won't be back!!! read more

I enjoyed my salmon meal! You can choose between a lemon garlic "sauce" or the sesame glaze. The lemon garlic was good, but a bit too oily. The salmon itself was cooked perfectly! The meal comes with bread sticks and a side, and I got the garlic mashed potatoes. They were very good! Not too garlicy and not too soft. The bread sticks were a little chalky. The ordering/seating system didn't work well when we visited this past weekend. Normally, you get your table assignment, order at the front, then sit at your table. When we got to the front of the line, they didn't have any tables left, so we continued to wait (standing with two kids is pretty hard; as opposed to listing a name and walking to the front when you've been called). They brought the meals to the table sporadically (not all at once), and totally forgot one meal. The staff were very nice about it, got the missing order quickly, and gave us a complimentary dessert. BBQ restaurant where you order at the counter and food is brought to your table. The decor is similar to Houston's or Yardhouse with large booths in addition to tables. Also, there is patio seating. We tried a family dinner which included a generous dinner salad, more cheese bread sticks than we can eat, 1/2 pound of tri-tip, and 1/2 chicken. We supplemented with a full rack of the baby back. We ended up taking 3 boxes of left overs. The ribs were probably my favorite. The meat was tender and flavorful. The BBQ sauce is the lighter variety but nonetheless very flavorful. The lemon and garlic chicken was in a pool of butter and just average. The tri-tip could have been more tender and tasted better eaten a day later as left over. read more

These are simple but so fucking good. Garlicy, potatoey, has a cream cheese thing going on I think. Seasoned well but not over seasoned. But still remain potatoes. Pesto Rigatoni. Very good. You get a lot for the medium serving. It's a solid side. Can be a little overly buttery / greasy but I don't mind. Still my favorite. Cheesecake. I like my cheesecake big. And it comes big here. The crust is not the crumbly kind. It's sticky and sweet. But I like it. The prices are good. Things i'd stay away from are the chicken breast and salmon. Had it catered and the chicken breast was rather dry. Not from this location. But I get take out here. So I stick with the tri tip. Its pretty good. But due to the fact that at the other locations I got the dry chicken breast. I wont get it again. Anyways this place is solid. Get the garlic mashed potatoes. Cheesecake. Breadsticks are bomb. This resturant was super busy but the line went quick . Customer service was really good. Food was very delicious and reasonable price we got a family meal deal. Which it came out really cheap . The atmosphere was nice the booths upholstery should be re done . No padding it feels like your sitting on 2x4s it hurts your glutes. Also bathrooms are really nice only thing it was not stocked with paper towels. I told the worker he stocked them really quickly. Just some things that happened recently: 1) Several people walking up to our table and asking if everything was fine while we were eating there. You don't see that too often at restaurants without the traditional waiter/waitress. 2) Someone helped me right away when I was wandering around looking for a to go box. 3) When getting takeout, the guy at the cash register gave my dad complimentary bread sticks since we ordered so much salad for lunch. Sept. 25,2021 I called to order and was put on hold for 46 minutes total! For the first 10 minutes, someone lifted the phone and without saying a word placed me on hold again. I decided to hang up, redial and it happened again. This time I didn't give up and waited. Finally, after 36 minutes a man who sounded so bored or tired took my call. The first thing he said was we have bad connection and cannot hear my voice! I took him off my speakerphone and still, he said he can't hear me. I asked for his name and sounding so bored he said, Dante. I asked to speak to his supervisor and without saying a word placed me on hold! Tri-tip and bread sticks are good but the ribs are a bit dry and aren't cooked to perfection. A good rib will fall off the bone at ease and not need you to be grinding your teeth into it to yank those bits of meats off the bone you know. read more

Stonefire Grill is like a way better Sonoma Chicken except with a lot of bbq. I came here with a bunch of friends after a long long day at Magic Mountain. We were starving and almost opted for Ihop a few feet away, but decided to try something new to us. We had take-out and ate at the hotel we were staying at. The bf and I ordered ribs, lemon chicken, tri-tip, and mashed potatoes. Our order came with four bread sticks and salad. I had the Greek salad and he had the Caesar. ......... SOOOOOOO GOOD. Well, more like a lot better than most of the bbq places in San Jose. The tri-tip was juicy and so was the chicken. The ribs needed just a little more flavor, but was otherwise a tasty rack. Our mashed potatoes had huge chunks of roasted garlic and mmmm that was the best part to me. Bread sticks were well seasoned and I could probably eat a whole box of them. My Greek salad was dry because the dressing I had didn't coat it very well and just landed to the bottom. I think it was like a cilantro chimi churri sauce. Not sure. After nomming for a good thirty minutes, we still couldn't finish our food. We stopped a two-thirds in and called it a night. LOL Food coma took us over. And in the morning, we couldn't even continue eating it because it wasn't refrigerated. :[[[[[[[[ Sad. In the end, I really enjoyed Stonefire Grill. I eat here all of the time and I love their entire menu! Their salads, soup, sandwiches and of course BBQ meats are all fantastic! We even use them for catering our parties often! However, last week I ordered the tri tip meal for 2 to go and I finally had an issue with their food for the first time in years! Who ever sliced the tri tip forgot to slice the meat against the grain and the entire portion was extremely chewy and very difficult to eat! It was a choking hazard, so my kid didn't get any of that for dinner! I'm not the type of person to call and complain, but I actually felt compelled to call the manager! She was very nice and apologized for my bad experience, and she said she would send me a gift card mailed to my house to make up for it. Well today I received my gift card and she reimbursed my entire dinner and sent a written apology letter and she actually signed it herself! Wow, I have to say I'm impressed!!!! In this day and age, I would have never expected the entire meal to be refunded. I was only expecting a small amount to put towards an appatizer or dessert, but this definitely exceeded my expectations! We get home and items are missing or very little meat on salads, etc. It seems disorganized and frantic in there and I don't recognize any of the managers any longer. Something has gone wrong there.
