I enjoyed my stay at this campground. Read some reviews about how some were disappointed about CG. We were not. We enjoyed the campground, easy in and out. Bathhouse were clean and nice. I am very disappointed. A golf cart parade can be fun but not here! We were surrounded with horn beeping golf carts throughout the campground and the beeping was continuous and off putting. I love my camp fires. This is a noice nuisance and distracting. As far as I know, the holiday is a few days away. I would avoid camping at f you're after peace and quiet! read more

We camped there in May, for several days. Clean, well run, very well located. They're not the cheapest place in the area, but their prices were reasonable, the campsites are reasonably well spaced, the restroom/showerhouses spotless. And when we needed to store our camper for several days to a family emergency, they accommodated us for ten dollars a day and were very friendly. I'd go back if we camp near Atlanta. And it's reasonably close to everything in the Atlanta area. read more

We have been to a lot of campgrounds. Stone Mountain is like a piece of heaven. The staff is beyond kind, generous and very helpful. The grounds are beautiful and kept in pristine condition. The attractions are amazing and very family friendly. The views are stunning and awe inspiring. It is like a piece of heaven on earth! Special shout out to Theresa in the campground check in. Awful campground for any larger RV. Most of the sites are so uneven that leveling is darn near impossible. I have automatic leveling and 2 of mine didn't even reach the ground. We tried 3 different spaces. Once we found one that was "suitable", it was in a more expensive area and they up-charged us. It was such a tight space that we couldn't even use our awning because we would have hit the trees. The sewer hole wasn't draining because it was filled with pebbles and the maintenance person they sent out was a camp host with no plumbing experience. I spent more time over the week we were there trying to deal with these issues than enjoying the area. On the plus side, we were there during their Christmas displays and it was beautiful. My advice is to find another campground in the area to stay and if you're interested in Stone Mountain's attractions, visit. read more

Just got home from a horrible experience at the campground. We have a pop up camper and asked before we arrived if we could upgrade to a better (RV) site and were rudely told we could not since they don't allow pop ups in the RV section or sites. So we came because we had the trip planned for quite some time. Upon arrival and check in we went to our site on K loop. All sites are not level and the roads are full of potholes, boulders right at the roads edge, and very unsafe to drive on. I wasn't able to level our camper due to the topography of our site. Railroad ties are used to help with the drop off to the lake. Most of them are rotting with many sharp edges and dangerous! The trees surrounding our site were not maintained. They had many dead branches that were large enough to really hurt someone if they broke off during a storm or a wind. The drainage cement is broken, very rough to back over (we had no choice) and treacherous to get your camper onto the site. There were very few campers there during our five night stay. We would have left on our first morning, but the ridiculous cancellation policy made it we would lose our entire amount we paid to camp. The bathrooms are GROSS! There is quite the variety of spiders, flying bugs, and other insects everywhere in the bathroom. No hot water, paint peeling or gone, showers with disgusting shower curtains. We ended up going to the RV section to shower. There, they are maintained, clean, and bug free. It's very apparent they do not care about tent campers, or pop up camping people. There was police activity in the park with several police cars either searching for someone or something, We were not made aware and therefore were quite scared. I see why they require you to sign a waiver releasing them from any responsibility during your stay. The entire area we stayed in was dangerous to drive, to camp, and to hike. We will not ever go back! And I highly encourage you to find another park to camp in. read more

This will be my very 1st negative review I have ever written. I have pictures to backup all my statements and I will download them. The campsites are horrible uneven ,broken up, and have severe dips. They have very little grass. My 1st spot I reserved was to 289, when it rained there was a dip Next to the spot and when you open the door there is about a 15' drop. I left that spot and moved to the only available spots where in the 400 where there is no sewer, Wi-Fi, OK however it was better than falling and breaking my leg. The 400 spots are full of potholes and uneven cracks in the asphalt and have no sewers but I made the best of what I got. The transportation to the amusements at Stone Mountain are wonderful,I must give credit where credit is due, the Duck tour was a lot of fun. The young man that drove by several times to pick up trash was very professional, pleasant and helpful . I will not be recommending this campground to anyone and I will not be back. With the money they charge, they need to put it back into fixing the campgrounds. read more

We initially went to Stone Mountain in April 2017, and at that time had a pretty miserable experience. We had made reservations online for two nights for primitive camping. It took us an hour to find our tent site in the dark. The map and signs to get to primitive camping were horrible. And it cost more than $100 to sleep in tent in the ground. But we chose to pay for it. What was not our choice was how cold it was, so we decided to forego the second night of camping to go back home to our warm bed. We ensured that we would have the opportunity to use our second night at a later date. The woman working in the office said all we had to do was do a "rain check." That sounded good, so skip forward several months. We called ahead of time to attempt to reserve an site, but the woman working said all we had to do was show up, and we would be taken care of. We had to pay another $15 for parking. We showed up, be patiently waited in line for 20 minutes, and the woman working in the office asked to see our "rain check" stub. What rain check stub? We weren't given one, and having never been there before, we didn't realize we needed to ask for one. Instead of viewing our previous receipt, the woman proceeded to say that "people could come in all the time and say they had a rain check." I said, "how would we know about the rain check stub if we hadn't been told about it, and how would we know to ask about it?" She said it was the policy and seemed to believe there was no way anyone else could have not followed said policy. Blank face. Very poor customer service. We decided not to pay for another night. The whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths. We will never be returning to Stone Mountain campgrounds again. Buyer beware, and get everything in writing. read more

Upon entering campground, there were not clear signs on where to check-in. The paved roads were so faded, it was hard to see where the lines were on where to park with the camper. After check-in, we were off to our campsite. But because of the i-entrance being a two-way road on a clearly one lane space, it was hard to get the camper to the site without someone else coming the opposite way. After seeing our site and attempting to back it in, we had difficulties because of all the vehicles in the street, other peoples tents and camp supplies surrounding it. The first stop after setup was the closest bathroom. Which was terrible! The paint was peeling off the bathroom floor, which was full of toilet paper, bugs and hair. We did find that the bathrooms closer to the rv sites were a good bit nicer than the ones near the pop-up and tent sites, which i feel is biast. Needless to say, the water spray and pressure in each bathroom that we attempted was horrible! The next day, we attempted to go to the pool. But because there were 100 people at the pool and only 30 or so chairs, we were one of the many who were forced to sit on the concrete. You would think that the largest campground in georgia with 441 sites would have more than one pool! Makes no sense. There were so many kids in the pool, that no adults could even get in! And if they did, they were immediately hit with a ball in the face or a big splash! And no one was checking for pool-passes! Anyone could have been at that pool and no one would have known! No one checked campground passes on cars either, so anyone could have been at the campground and no one have known either! Or at the pool, without a pool pass! There was no 'quiet time' set through the campground, and if there was, it was not enforced. There was loud music all through the night. The sites were terrible. If there was 10 foot of space, there was a spot number on it. No privacy at all. Some tents were two feet from the road! Not safe for kids at all! No one in their right mind would choose a site that is uneven! And there were many and many of them! The gravel, instead of pavement, on each site made it more difficult to manuever the camper into it's position! The roads were terrible. There were huge roots growing throughout the roads, making large holes and it difficult to drive on, especially pulling a camper. I will not be back to this campground. It was the worst one i have ever been to, and i have been to many throughout the south for the rate we had to pay, especially for a holiday, i would have expected a lot better than what we got. I was severely let down! read more

This campground earns five stars for actually having a clean bathhouse! The bathhouse, which was very well maintained, had eight different individual showers, each closed off by a lockable wooden door, which was very nice. Additionally, the campground itself was very clean, and the campsites were all pretty large. The views of stone mountain are also incredible if you get a lakeside campsite. This campground, while surrounded by a busy area like Stone Mountain, was surprisingly peaceful, and I had almost no clue that I was in the middle of suburban Atlanta. My one complaint, though, is that there was a resort right across the lake from my campsite, which I think ruined the feng shui of the outdoorsy vibes that this campground did an excellent job of creating. read more

Had an amazing time, camping and making memories, with our family of 6! Will definitely come back in the future!

Primitive tent camping was wonderful. Most state parks are pretty unkempt but this one was in great shape. I reserved spot 119 about a month prior for $26 per night for 3 nights. This was Easter weekend so it was extremely crowded and there was quite a bit of noise from late arrivals but the last night all the revelers were gone and we got to enjoy the peace and quiet we came for. Luckily, there was so much to do there that we were exhausted and fell right to sleep. The campground offers a two for the price of one deal for tickets into the attractions. We spent one day there on the ropes course, rock wall, train, and mini golf. Later that night we came back for the laser light show. The next morning we took the sky ride to the top of the mountain at 5am for an Easter sunrise service. After hiking down we went to a geology museum at the base and grabbed a shuttle to the attractions for lunch and another shuttle back to the campground. Then, on to the campground pool. Later we explored the historic village where they had an adorable petting zoo where a white goat was playfully picking fights and hiding before trying to eat our shirts. So much fun. I only held back a star because of the late comers who woke us up trying to figure out how to put up a tent and talked about it for what seemed like hours. Otherwise I don't think there could be a better campground on a lake, near a granite mountain, with clean bathrooms and hot showers, shuttles, a pavilion with an Easter egg hunt, a general store, and a table, grill, and fire ring at each primitive site. read more

Stone Mountain park is amazing, the campground not so much. The bathrooms closer to the main entrance were okay, but dated. The bathrooms by the further out loops were dilapidated and looked like out of 1970's. They were clean and the plumbing was mostly functional. The sites are close together and not level. Some drive through lots a have huge potholes or harsh drop offs. Tough to level a pop up on a hill- other campers complained of similar concerns. It's maintained "well enough". The prior campers put the rotted picnic table on 2 large rocks to level it. Not really quiet. We're there Labor Day, lots of ambulance, train and traffic noise. The lake and mountain are beautiful. I would have given the campsite a review if 2 or 3 were it not for nature. For what it costs to camp here , one would expect better engineering and maintenance. read more

I love this park! If you are visiting Atlanta this is a great place to rent or RV camp! You are about 20 minutes from downtown and conveniently located in Stone Mountain where there are many hiking trails and activities for kids in the village. The sites are situated in the trees and right on the beautiful lake with a view of the mountain. I'm partial to trail 'M', it has some of the best views! read more

We stayed here in March 2014. The facilities were very nice and well kept. Our site had a small deck, a propane grill, and in general was very picturesque. Stone Mountain park is very nice, and a reasonable drive to downtown Atlanta. The entrance to the campground was tight (35' 5th wheel) but navigable. Their Internet was poor, if you need internet, your better off bringing your own. Also they tended to group people together at one point there were only three trailers on the loop they were all next to one another. read more

The park and campground itself is in a very pretty wooded area. However, the camp sites are very expensive and on top of it, you have to pay $20 just to get into the park. I wish this was mentioned on their website or when I called the campground and talked to an employee. We were out about $85 just to camp here for one night. We got our camper set up/hooked up and then the next morning when we were getting ready to leave, we discovered that the sewer pipe was clogged, which resulted in sewage backing up and getting all over our equipment. Overall, it was a bad experience and way overpriced. We don't plan on returning. read more

We stayed at the stone mountain campground to enjoy two days at the yellow Daisy festival, you can see my review on that on the Yellow Daisy Yelp page. This time we stayed we stayed in one of the new yurts. To get on to stone mountain property it is 15 dollars per car, after you check in at the campsite they give you a pass to come and go as you please for the duration of your stay. The yurts where clean and well constructed and the beds where comfortable. You have to bring your own sheets for the beds. They have one queen bed, a single bunk bed and a queen futon mattress under the bunk. Seems like a lot of furniture for a yurt but they felt very spacious inside and could comfortably fit four adults and one child. The view off the back deck of the yurts was amazing the lake is right off the porch and there where ducks and a blue Herron. I set up my eno hammock on the deck and it was great. Until screaming children not having fun playing, screaming wild tantrums in the yurts on either side of us. Inside the yurt the noise is amplified. The quiet time at the campground is 11pm, I think is a little late after being at the yellow Daisy festival all day on the Georgia heat I was really to settle down and relax by 9pm, but I couldn't because screaming tantrum all out craziness children until close to 11 pm. There are no bathrooms in the yurts you have to go to the public bath houses. There are two pretty far from the yurts a nice 10 min walk to the closest one, unfortunately while we where there that bathhouse did not have any hot water so we had to use the other one that was just a little further away. The bathrooms where reasonably clean for a campground. On the way to the bathroom the rest of the camp ground was really quiet. Just some people relaxing by the fire having quiet conversations, but in the distance by the yurts you could hear screaming and yelling. We thought maybe after those people left and they did while we where there that maybe we just had bad neighbors, but the next afternoon more people moved in and the screaming started again only worse. Around the yurts there was broken glass on the ground, water ballon piece everywhere and other trash. If your looking for a romantic get away for two I would not suggest the yurts. read more

Most of the staff was friendly. There are hardly any signs to direct yo to the right place. Some roads are one way so if you miss it you are screwed. The best thing they have going for them is the maintinance crew. They kerp things clean and tidy. Never rude. The primitive campsite are horrible. The parking is so bad that other people have to park right next to your tent. In some cases you need 4 wheel drive just to park. The fire pits are a mess. The ground is unbelievably unlevel. The camp sites are so close together that if a bird farted you would hear it. Qiet hours are not enforced so you will be going to sleep at 1 and waking up at 5. It were not for the amazing cleaning crew/maininance I would have given a 1 star. The bathrooms I have to say are better than some restaurants I have been too. It is amazing to me that with all that crazy amount of space that they could not figure out a way to properly space that out. read more

Stone Mountain campground was very well maintained and cared for. The sites were nicely positioned for privacy and nature. Wi-Fi was very slow and unusable. Upon check-in the staff was rough around the edges, but got the job done in the end. I would return for a future visit. read more

One of the best in the Country. We have been to this park numerous times through the years, and it only continues to improve. There is something for everyone in that the amenities are wide range. It is a great place to get away no matter your age, we see all age ranges here. I could go on but suffice to say that it is one of the best in the country, which is why we continue to return. read more

Wifi slower than molasses. For those of us full-time RVers who work remotely, the dial-up speed WiFi is useless. Even more useless was the Campground Office's excuse as to why it was so slow: "well everyone is using it". That isn't helpful. We're not surfing the internet for American Idol chat rooms, we're working. The front office was especially unhelpful in this matter. Her attitude was basically take it or leave it. We had to set up shop in a Starbucks. Laundry facilities in our section were unmarked. The only indication that there was a room was an open louvered door with no signage. Most of the machines had no signage as to how much it would cost per load. You had to count quarter slots to figure out how mucha load to wash and dry would cost you. $2.00 a load to wash and $2.00 a load to dry. Highway Robbery!!!! It did not help that the floors were filthy and dust littered the machines and folding tables. Hookups: water and electric and that's it. You have physically move your rig to dump black and gray water each time you need to dump black and gray water. This place might be an experience for first time campers but it's on the Drive By Nothing To See Here list for full time RVers read more

Okay, I can understand how depending on WHAT SITE you have will lower your star rating. However I think this review needs to be put out there, if anything, it may make other campers ask more questions when reserving a site. We were in site #344. This site has the door opening out to the road, no room for chairs. The hook up are in the area of the concrete picnic table (which means, you have to go to the other side of your camper to use the table. Very tight area). Most campers/5th wheels/motorhomes have the hookups on the left side of the camper. we should have been told we wouldn't be able to use the picnic table from the door of the camper and that our door and steps would open on the campground road. A lot of traffic with campers going in and out. Light laser show was fantastic. HOWEVER, the shuttle taking you there from the campground was a bit UNSAFE. There were so many of us crammed into the bus that at least 10-12 people had to stand in the isle. VERY UNSAFE and made me a bit nervous. The shuttle coming back from the laser show was kinda strange, the elderly woman driving us was very nervous in traffic, constantly accelerating and then letting off. Fooling with her seat belt, glancing around to the left, right and back to front again. Not sure if she was NEW or to old or just very nervous driving a bus. The laundry facilities are sparse to say the least considering this campground is huge. And very dirty! We drove to a coin operated laundromat. The stone mountain sky lift was fabulous. I won't be coming back to this campground although we did explore and saw a number of nice spaces we would have been happy with. The roads to the spaces are falling apart, big holes, tree roots lifting the pavement. The gentleman across from us got a flat coming in. This campground needs improvements...with the amount of money they take in, I really expected it to be more. And I certainly expect them to warn you about a space as awful as we had...especially if your staying with a family of more than 2. So..bottom line, if your thinking of staying at Stone Mountain...ask specifics about your site! read more
