It was hard to make friends (keep in mind, I am social type of person) and do the things I love. I met Steve on Facebook. He was so kind and you could tell from his posts, that he just wanted to help people. I finally reached out to him and attended an event. It was an event that was the beginning to my "normal." It was the first event I attended and honestly was a bit nervous bc I have been to "meet-up" groups and well they weren't all pleasant experiences. Everyone was so nice, inviting, down to earth just good people. Everyone has their own personality, no one judges, we come together do fun events, events that help our community, we learn at these events...it's just an awesome experience. I could write a whole page!! The point is...I got involved with this group looking to make friends. Not only did I make friends, but these friends turned into my second family here in Atlanta. And he got us at FREE! :) Being a native Angeleno and someone who lived in downtown LA for a few years, Phil taught us the most interesting and random facts that completely opened our eyes! He is funny (had my stoic husband laughing), engaging and did his homework. He takes the time to know his group and lets you asks questions while walking in between stops. This was a wonderful tour and exactly how we wanted to top off our overnight stay in DTLA. Yep, the tour is free and he accepts cash donations and percentage of it goes to the Midnight Mission. At the end of it you just want to open up your wallet for him! Recommended for anyone who is interested in learning something new.

The highlight of our visit was a ghost tour at Dahlonega Walking Tours. Penny and Jeremy welcomed our group to enjoy a glass of wine on the porch before heading out to learn about the colorful history of Dahlonega and the unnerving happenings that are brought to life through Jeremy's entertaining and engaging storytelling. We walked through Hope cemetery in the dark trying to catch a glimpse of a white-gowned woman or a long-gone soldier. We heard how the ghost of Mrs Vickery would visit students at the college's Vickery House when they themselves alone after hours. Many photos were taken with one or two containing some rather interesting objects. Jeremy's tour was a good combination of local history and the paranormal. It is not to be missed! We ended our tour with another glass of wine on the porch as we shared pictures and stories. Thank you for your hospitality! We will be back!

It was cold and windy that day; luckily, the trolley was heated, and the weather did not affect the tour. This tour is a great deal, priced under $40, to get a detailed overview of the main neighborhoods in and around Atlanta. These days, you will pay a lot more to drive around in an Uber or Lyft, and you won't get a tour guide giving you the history behind the landmarks you will see. The only stop made on this tour is at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center. You will have some time to explore the Center, but not enough to see everything in this area. Ebenezer Baptist Church is next to the Center, and the trolley drives by MLK Jr.'s birth home. At the time I visited, the home was temporarily closed for renovations. For a more in-depth tour of the neighborhood, you will need to return on your own.
