    Joy the amazing tour guide!!
    Stephanie A.

Loved our walking tour of historical sites! Our guide was knowledgeable about both history and the neighborhoods we walked through and clearly has a passion for Atlanta. I learned so much, and our pace allowed us the space and time to reflect as we walked. We engaged history in a way we never would have from a bus or car. Totally recommend this company for the experience and the learning environment

A lot of fun and great food. We are stuffed. We learned to make biscuits and they taste great. Our guide Kristen was wonderful. I highly recommend you take this food tour. You will not leave hungry

Our first time in Atlanta and although on a time crunch we wanted to book a historic tour. I stumbled upon Unexpected Atlanta on trip advisor and so glad that I booked the King Historic District Tour($40 per person). Our tour guide was Arielle and she was upbeat, informative, kept us interacted and didn't just unload a bunch of historic information. I learned so much and appreciated she also educated us on Atlantas general history as well as other key players in Atlanta history. It didn't just focus on MLK which is a very important person in history but also so many other key players which I had no idea about! The tour was a leisure 2 mile walk and appreciate the water stop in the middle. I would definitely book another tour with Unexpected Atlanta as it was a great experience, clear communication and they even took photos which they emailed the following day. Overall, a 10/10 experience! Thank you Arielle and Unexpected Atlanta!

The Cabbagetown art tour Was AWESOME. Areielle was very nice, professional and knowledgeable about the art along the way.

Joy was an absolute...well, joy! We got to take a food tour through the Municipal/ Curb Market. The food was amazing, and our amazing guide even helped us make Southern Biscuits! My wife and I are still debating whether the Jamabalaya or the Meat Pie was superior, but we both agree that Joy breaking into song at the end of the tour was the highlight! Would recommend to anyone. They are also very sensitive to any dietary needs or restrictions. I was almost jealous that one of the vegetarians in our group got some Mac & Cheese!

Jaime, our tour guide was engaging, energetic and knowledgeable - truly enjoyed her enthusiasm and introducing us to the residents of Oakwood Cemetery in such a beautiful and respectful manner. Kennedy, the new guide shadowing her was also friendly and engaging! We do ALOT of Food Tours - across the nation ... and while good ... certainly didn't meet the description of what we purchased via Viator: - 9 food tastings and one alcoholic beverage from 3 locally owned restaurants ... we got 6 tastings from 3 restaurants! - small group tours of no more than 6 people ... we had 10 people! - tour of Grant Park was a complete misrepresentation; as the actual park was not even in the area and not included as distance was prohibitive. Two in our group had seafood allergies - the substitution dishes were ok. Prior notice of allergies was given when booked. Two in our group didn't eat pork, either - this restaurant handled their substitutions better than the other. Jaime did her best to meet the needs of everyone - just felt a bit underwhelmed by the food selections when considering the number of restaurants open and available in the area. Six Feet Under - shrimp & grits and catfish. The Fire Pit - a bite of pork belly with tomato jam and pretzel with refreshing drink - My Little Pony Punch. The Little Tart - chocolate chip cookie and bite of peach tart.

All the yummy tastings we did! Don't look too closely if you don't want spoilers!

I really enjoyed this food tour! I went with 6 or so girlfriends on a bachelorette party for a daytime activity other than drinking. The bbq stop was huge! I really liked the refreshing alcoholic beverage served with it. I didn't care for the pork belly so much and felt that could have been left of the plate. I also liked the meat pie a lot! It was really tasty! All the spots were really good but half end up being in the market since so many good restaurants are their. Joy was a great tour guide! I also liked the photo op stop she did and that she sends a follow up email after the tour. Joy was very informative, personable, and energetic. Mrs.D from the popcorn shop was also very lovely and sweet! That was a great stop as well!

One stop was literally a gas station where we heard about "creepy dolls" and a haunted mirror. Yes, we did see real landmarks - Fox Theatre and the Georgian Terrace, + a couple more - but the Fox tale was pure fluff and nothing about the Terrace or any of the others was remotely eerie. We mostly stood around on a slow Monday night and watched delivery robots up and down the streets that were more interesting than the tour. No sources, no access, no atmosphere. Also, the "tour guide" told us it's rumored that Wayne Williams of the Atlanta Child Murders took some of the boys he killed to St. Mark United Methodist Church on Peachtree St. and briefly left them there in the basement before he disposed of their bodies. She then went on to say that the church now holds children's services in the same part of the church and that it's "creepy." Give me a break. I've lived in Atlanta for a quarter century and have researched that case extensively, and I've never heard of anything so ridiculous until now. There's also nothing online to support it. If you're expecting legitimate stories, a little theater, or even one genuinely spooky stop, this isn't it. Cut the sales pitches, pick actual sites we can experience, and tell fewer, better stories with citations. Until then, hard pass.

We took the tour last wknd, and enjoyed learning about the BeltLine project while driving through the Atlanta neighborhoods like Glenwood, Grant Park, Boulevard Crossing, Capital View, Peachtree Hills, etc. and some historic sites, too. Highlight of the tour was seeing the Bellwood Quarry which will be the centerpiece for the future Westside Reservoir Park - the largest park in Atlanta. I was amazed - not to the level like when I first saw the Grand Canyon - but almost, just b/c I never knew such a gem existed INSIDE Atlanta. In case you're wondering about the location, it's behind Marietta Blvd and right now it's fenced off to the public. They say the only way you can see it is taking this tour. Check out the photos - beautiful, right?! The BetlLine project is huge, and has the potential to transform Atlanta. They say it will ultimately connect 45 neighborhoods. I also learned that Atlanta is the one of the most underparked cities - we're at 3.8% whereas most cities are 10-15%. Check out the website to get more info on the project. The tour is a great way to spend your Friday or Saturday morning, and then grab some brunch afterwards :) They book fast and advanced reservations are required. Our tour guide was great and highly knowledgeable but she does talk non-stop. Three hrs is a long time and honestly, I did doze off a few times :) But seeing the Quarry was totally worth it, and I definitely learned a lot about Atlanta.

This was my case during the FYLA event that I attended. The shuttle that we boarded was comfortable and air-conditioned (for those worried about suffering through Atlanta summer temperatures or having to weather a rough ride). Our guide, Shanté (or Shauntay maybe?), was a doll, knew a lot about the project and the city as a whole. She seemed to be seasoned, as she spoke clearly and timed everything she said just right, as she stood with her back to the front, to face our group. I learned a lot and saw neighborhoods that I had never seen or heard of. The architecture of Atlanta is something to admire, as it is unique. I enjoyed seeing the Bellwood Quarry Reservoir (look at our photos, it is gorgeous) and the Old Fourth Ward Park. Now I am hoping that I can convince my landscape architect-in-training sister to join me for this tour. I was told to wait a couple months before going again, to get some new information. Keep in mind that the tours book to capacity at least a month in advance, to plan wisely (though our guide said that if you are really interested, show up and see if some people who have reserved dropped out the last minute--she said this happens quite frequently). If you want, take along some snacks. Just make sure to empty your bladder and any other organs that may need to be voided before arriving to the start point of the tour. The closest bathroom before taking off from the Inman Park MARTA station is at Dough Bakery and the staff restrict bathroom use to patrons. Don't judge me for getting a grapefruit scone so that I could relieve myself. You will make a stop a little bit before the halfway point of the tour at a Kroger (is this murder Kroger? I'm unsure), where you can pick up nourishment and use the facilities. But it can be an uncomfortable first hour or so, if you are thinking you can just hold it. Okay, let's move past the bathroom thing... You should learn more about the A, its history, its neighborhoods, and the progress of the BeltLine. This tour will help you do all those things in a span of just 180 minutes, give or take.

Our group of four booked a Segway tour weeks in advance and arrived as scheduled, only to be told upon arrival that the tour could not proceed because their tour guide was unavailable that day. We were informed that they had attempted to notify us the day prior, while we were in transit, but no meaningful effort was made to ensure we actually received that message. A voicemail was left while in transit that only gave the name of the person to call back. We did respond message the company back but no message of details was sent to us. There was no information given us that the tour had been cancelled and there was no effort by the company to call us back this morning to indicate the tour was canceled. Instead this company allowed us to show up. When we showed up this morning, the office was dead quiet. The one staff easily could've contacted us before we arrived, to have allowed us to make alternate plans. As a result, we showed up expecting a confirmed booking. While an apology and refund were offered, that is the minimum one would expect in this situation. There was no attempt to find a replacement guide or propose an alternative solution, despite the significant inconvenience caused. What was most concerning, however, was how the situation was handled. As we calmly discussed next steps among ourselves, we were unexpectedly told that we were making the staff member, Sammi, "uncomfortable". Despite the fact that even though we were highly disappointed we remained polite and measured. We were then asked to leave, and the door was locked behind us, which felt offensive as well as entirely unwarranted given our demeanor. She should've called us that morning and if anything that would possibly be why she was uncomfortable because of her own mistake. Our disappointment was warranted and we were not in any way aggressive, moreover never have any of us been called that. It's preposterous that her mistake, resulting in our disappointment and regrouping could be attributed with making her uncomfortable. She could have a higher tolerance for customers and customer service vs blaming validly disappointed customers for frustration which she caused. We are reasonable, respectful customers and simply expected clear communication and a basic level of customer service. Unfortunately, neither was demonstrated here. I would not recommend relying on this business if your plans depend on them.
