My daughter and I spent a wonderful weekend in Dahlonega recently horseback riding, wine tasting, and enjoying the wonderful restaurants and quaint charm of Dahlonega . The highlight of our visit was a ghost tour at Dahlonega Walking Tours. Penny and Jeremy welcomed our group to enjoy a glass of wine on the porch before heading out to learn about the colorful history of Dahlonega and the unnerving happenings that are brought to life through Jeremy's entertaining and engaging storytelling. We walked through Hope cemetery in the dark trying to catch a glimpse of a white-gowned woman or a long-gone soldier. We heard how the ghost of Mrs Vickery would visit students at the college's Vickery House when they themselves alone after hours. Many photos were taken with one or two containing some rather interesting objects. Jeremy's tour was a good combination of local history and the paranormal. It is not to be missed! We ended our tour with another glass of wine on the porch as we shared pictures and stories. Thank you for your hospitality! We will be back! read more

We did the historic ghost tour, it starts at 8 and is a little over 2 hours. It was an amazing tour, our guide had so many stories and facts it was very intriguing! The walk is about a mile and half but plenty of breaks and some stops do have places to sit. Recommend also going early grabbing a glass of wine from a Georgia winery and enjoying their beautiful porch that over looks the square. This tour was my favorite part of the trip and highly recommend booking! read more

Ghost tour. This is a great way to learn about the history of the city and be thrilled by some of the supernatural reportings. Jeremy, our guide, was a very good storyteller. His interest in the history as well as his own experience living in the town and making friends with the locals give him a level of authenticity. The walking pace is leisurely and we were able to visit several important sites. The tour starts at 8 pm. As the tour progressed and it got darker, it became more spooky. I've been on a number of walking tours of towns, ghost and otherwise and the Ghosts and Graveyards tour in Dahlonega delivers! I prefer the historic with a good paranormal story and he was wonderful! Two hours plus which was a great value and the walk was studded with tidbits of information along the way. I want to go back for a day walking tour to see the cemetery properly as there are some interesting looking grave markers and it looks to be well maintained. The houses are beautiful and the town rich with Civil War and gold mining tales. Come dressed comfortably and with comfortable footwear, because you hoof it! Also you meet on the second floor of a building adjacent to the main square down from the Fudge factory towards the supply store, not the Crimson Moon. We went on the Historic Ghost Walk and all six of us thoroughly enjoyed it. The tour includes stops around Dahlonega Square as well as Mount Hope Cemetery and the Vickery House, where the UNG Appalachian Studies Department is now housed. One of our party felt the presence of an angry ghost at the Vickery House and pointed at the upstairs window where he sensed it - before our tour guide told us that's the room where a ghost has been seen on several occasions. The guide, Jeremy Sharp, was very entertaining and informative. It was great to relax after the tour on the upstairs porch of Dahlonega Walking Tours, which sells wine as well as tours. Two thumbs up! My fiance and I decided to spend a weekend in Dahlonega and if you've never been before, well, there's not much to do. After spending some time on Google we decided to try out Dahlonega Walk Tour's two activities, Grapes and Ghosts and Ghost Walking Tour. We did the Grapes and Ghosts the first night (Friday) with Penny and she took us to 3 stops. At each stop we had some wine and she told us history and ghost stories of Dahlonega. She is very charming and funny. The second night (Saturday) we did the Ghost Walking Tour with Jeremy. This one was a little more walking intensive and had 10 stops. Each stop Jeremy would give history and ghost stories. He is very good at story telling and is both informative and funny. If you're only in Dahlonega one night, you have to stop by, you won't regret it! read more

This was our first ghost tour and we LOVED it! We almost didn't go due to rainy weather... So glad we sucked it up and just threw on rainboots and grabbed Umbrellas. One of the best ghost tours we have been on. Jeremy was a great tour guide and had one of the most stories to tell than some of the other tours we have been on. He was really great in moving the tour and in some places having the group sit in spots and tell stories where he was able to be heard by everyone. He took us to some cool old buildings and spooky houses and the best was the cemetery we got to walk through and hear stories. Even my 8 and 10 year old boys loved it and said it was one of their favorites. I'd give him more stars if we could. Definitely a 5 star review for this company. read more

Very disappointed in the BOOS & BREWS Walking Ghost Tour. Enjoyed Penny's town history knowledge we got before leaving the check-in spot, but we went to 3 bars and got ghost stories, none of which were first hand or while standing in actual "haunted spots". As we visited each bar, most of our time was spent having to order something at each spot and by the time we got to the last bar the stories were non-existent and our guide was more interested in eating then keeping our group engaged. She was very sweet, but I have done walking tours in at least 15 different cities and this was by far my least favorite. read more

Spooky and fascinating!!! Our tour guide, Jeremy, was delightful. He was articulate, interesting, and insightful. We did the family tour which includes history, fun facts of the town along with paranormal stories and sightings that will give anyone the chills. I left the tour having learned about a unique and dark past of my frequent- vacation-town and with the feeling things were just a little sinister around this area of the square. We did the ghost tour on a cold Saturday evening in December. Our guide was amazing. He really knows local history and brings in a lot of local color. After the first few minutes, we forgot how cold it was because we were enthralled with the whole experience. One person in our group is hard of hearing. Our guide made sure that she was always in front and he always made sure that he was looking directly at her when talking. She had no problem understanding what he was saying. Our guide took the time to answer questions and made sure that everyone was comfortable as we walked. It was also cool that the last stop was a gallery so we also got to see/purchase local art. However, it wasn't really worth the money for me because despite it being called a "wine tour," there was no discussion of the wines and no real wine tasting element to it. Huge waste of time and money. Tour given by a very un prepared guide. Third person experiences give from a distance is what this tour is all about. Listened to our very awkward guide struggle through stories he's heard from other people while not being able to go into any of the supposed haunted locations. Couldn't even go into the "haunted" hallway in their own building the business operates out of. This tour could be put into a three page pamphlet with more effect. read more

We were running a bit late and she came and got us so we didnt miss any of the fun! You cant get any more thoughtful than that! We were very disappointed in the overall quality of this tour. Although the tour guide obviously had read a lot of data about the history of Dahlonega and some of the related "ghost" lore, he merely gave a recitation rather than an engaging storyteller presentation. The tour merely consisted of stopping in front of a few buildings on the same short street while the tour guide swiftly recited his memorized script. The ghost anecdotes were only incidental as opposed to being dramatically featured. The better part of the tour was the short visit to the historic cemetery. Unfortunately, it lacked any element of mystery or ghostly atmosphere due to so many people talking and taking photos. It was difficult to even see the featured tombstones for the crowd. I do not recommend this paid tour of $15. You can take the same tour yourself for free. All of the information can be found on line and is much more engaging. read more
