We are here in Helen on family vacation with my brother and his family. We booked this tour and Stefan was our driver for the day. There were 6 of us and we had a very comfortable ride in a van. Stefan was very knowledgeable with the history of the area. First we drove up the Richard Russell Scenic Highway. There were several look out areas we stopped at and were able to admire the beauty of the mountains. Next, we went to Helton Creek Falls. Stefan took us to the top of the falls and then gave us a time to be back at the van for our departure. We had plenty of time to get in the water and experience the power of the falls. Then we headed to the Appalachian Trail Supply Station. This was a really neat place to visit. There is a store there where you can purchase hiking gear, shirts, books, etc. Pretty cool store to look around in. There are bathrooms available at this stop. Stefan had water and snacks available for us and had brought towels in case we had forgotten ours. Then we went down the mountain and to Dick's Creek Falls. There is no hiking to get to these falls, they are right off the road. You are able to get into the water and swim here also. I am so glad we did this tour. We visited 2 waterfall areas that I do not think we would gotten to without a guide. It also allowed all of us to look at the scenery and not have to worry about driving on the very winding roads. read more
