The people that this company has hired are complete and absolute jerks. They have made this deck renovation completely miserable. As this project is at the center of the 60 unit complex, the noise from the project, as expected, is pretty awful. The problem is, the workers have also decided to entertain themselves with music. As I work from home, this extra noise is completely annoying on top of the tile saw etc. and the fact that where they are working is in a complete "noise vortex" and everything is amplified doesn't help. The boss was called by management (three times), and they were told to turn the music off. After they refused his direction, I unfortunately have had several more interactions including an argument from them about how they should be able to have it on because they are working. Well, so am I. I have now lost my patience. They are paid to do a job by all the people who own, live and rent in this complex. Since it is we who are ultimately paying the bill, I would expect cooperation about how to get the project done while keeping everyone semi-happy. I understand that there is a lack of workers these days and things are difficult, but human kindness and cooperation should be expected from all who are working in shared space. And all work and work environments are important. Including mine. I hope this company can work this out, as I think they do a pretty good job - but their reputation is being sullied by workers acting like jerks. read more

I would give Nathan and his team good marks. Prices are reasonable and they did a good, professional job. The demolished and expanded a pool deck for us and after the sealing was place the deck was initially too slippery but they came back several times until they got it to the right texture which we were impressed with. There are a few small cracks but I think that this is inevitable with a large concrete job. Have referred them to several friends. read more

Stone Concepts did our patio and we have the worst looking cracked patio in our neighborhood. We paid close to $20K for this cement patio, which started to crack one day after they had finished the work. All sections of the patio are cracked. The contractor was told about the cracks, but they did not want to do anything at first. Couple months later Stone Concept replaced one of the most cracked sections of the patio. It is totally different color than the rest of the patio and this replaced section cracked 2 days after the replacement and looks worse than the other sections. This section is in the front of our patio door and we have to look at it each time we have to open the door. After each rain or water the plants in the back, we have several puddles of water standing on the patio, because the drainage was not done correctly. The worst area is next to our house and it is so bad that the standing water has left permanent green and black mold there. The moldy water drains to under our house due to the faulty drainage. We asked the contractor to fix that section, but he refused to do anything, even knowing about the mold issue. The previous owners of this house had a 13 year old patio here and it was not cracked anywhere, neither do any of our neighbors have cracked patios. We wanted to have a larger patio and that is why we wanted to replace the old patio. We are very sorry that we used this contractor. We hope nobody else have to experience this pain we had to go through. We DO NOT RECOMMEND this contractor to anyone! If we could leave zero stars, we would do it, their messy work is not worth even one star. read more

Stone Concepts did an AMAZING job with our new patio in our backyard. This is our first house and we are finally getting some things done that we have wanted. Nathan and his team gave us a great deal and followed through on everything. This being our first Backyard Patio project, we were of course nervous but we felt like we could always call and ask questions. At some point, we just had to put our faith into Nathan and it paid off tremendously! He removed the old concrete slabs, leveled the ground, and really put the extra effort in. My husband and I came home and I even teared up, not just at how beautiful it was but how easy the whole process was. Nathan replaced our garage floor for us. While getting bids to replace the floor, he identified that one of the cracks went through a footing, and advised us to investigate that. It turns out the wall footings had no rebar in them! A structural engineer helped us determine how to strengthen the footings at reasonable expense, at which time Nathan's bid was competitive with the lowest of 5 bids. Throughout the work, he communicated clearly and honestly with me, his workers were all skilled and pleasant and respectful, and his price didn't vary even when some additional costs hit the project. The new floor looks great, and we're excited about the options it opens up for our use of the garage. I would definitely hire Nathan again if I have concrete work needed. Nathan Stone and Stone Concepts turned our unusable backyard into a place that we can now call home. We now have a beautifully multi-color stamped concrete patio with full drainage. Water used to be an issue for us because one side of our house was next to a hill. With the new patio and excellently placed drainage; not to mention having all my downspouts tied into the system; water is no longer an issue. They also installed a beautiful (and strong) 3 foot retaining wall all along the side where the hill was. And with the beautiful Santa Barbara White Stucco coating, it looks very finished. I am not the easiest person to work for, due to working in the project management field; yet Nathan and JC and the rest of the crew were nothing but professional and helpful. I would recommend Stone Concepts for any job, large or small. They are just a bunch of great people! read more

Knowing that it was a massive job, we weren't looking forward to replacing the back patio...but Stone Concepts made this tolerable! We had a couple bids and Nathan with Stone provided the best value, so we decided to go with them. Work commenced on the day we were told it would and finished sooner than we were expecting which was a very pleasant surprise! The crew was so hard-working and destruction and haul away of the old patio was done on the first day, forms and rebar were put in place on the second day and the new patio was poured on the third day. We actually had a patio for Labor Day! There were a few loose ends that were tied up yesterday and today, including repair of small area of stucco that was damaged in the removal of the old walkway. We are 100% pleased with the beautiful, new stamped concrete patio and walkway that Stone Concepts provided...and our blind dog is thrilled to not be falling into the crevasses that the old patio had! We would recommend Stone Concepts to anyone who wants an excellent job done! Update: 11/2/12 A crack about the thickness of a dime appeared within a week on a narrow part of the walkway, which we weren't expecting. We had opted for the patio replacement because we didn't want cracks and the group that would have resurfaced the old patio said there would be cracks where cracks existed on the old patio. Nathan came out a month after the patio was poured and said that cracks were to be expected but that it shouldn't be an issue because the rebar would keep it from getting out of control. He said that he'd stand by the work that was done and would repair/replace the cracked area if it widened. I do think that it has widened a bit and there is crumbling along the crack but we'll continue to wait a bit to see how it progresses. I would like to mention that 99% of the patio is fabulous and if this crack wasn't in such a prominent, exposed and high traffic area that we'd be inclined to let it go. I'd give zero stars if I could, since no work was ever done. I was put in touch with Nathan Stone on Sept 10 to remove my old concrete patio and clear out all the vegetation in our yard in advance of installation of an entirely new landscape. He never came to the house in person, at one point wanted to "swing by" without an appointment in the afternoon with his crew to start the work (I work 8-5 Mon-Fri and still had patio furniture and a trailer to move), and then fell off the planet in terms of communication. Apparently his wife was due to give birth, so I gave him a couple of weeks and then emailed him again to set up the job. The last I heard from him was on Sept 20. Today is Nov 5. I'm guessing he doesn't want this job. But in the meantime, instead of telling me that, my yard project is almost 2 months behind and we're creeping into what is being forecast as a very wet season. Now I have to push my project back into 2016. I would call this experience unprofessional to say the least. read more

Unprofessional. Misrepresented their ability and skill level. Would not recommend them to anyone. I am amazed that the other reviews were so good. Aside from the ugly large black grease like spots they left on my new patio, they managed to spray black dye all down one side of my house and yes, my concrete has also cracked. We're very happy with our experience with Nathan and the stamped & colored concrete patio he and his crew built for us. We got a few bids but chose Stone Concepts not only for the price, but because Nathan is knowledgeable and easy to work with. One of the other contractors we talked to kept trying to tell us what we wanted, dismissing our ideas as though it were his backyard and not ours. But Nathan listened closely to our ideas and helped us design the patio and walkways we wanted, and at the price we wanted to pay. Stone Concepts did driveway repair work for me less than two years ago in 2015, replacing part of the driveway entirely. It "puddled" under the first rainfall and Nathan Stone came to see it. He very professionally offered to replace it from scratch or to try some refinishing and see how it did, assuring me that if was not satisfactory for at least 5 years he would have it replaced. We decided to try the refinishing.This fall it started to chip away as we started to get rain. Nathan again was very pleasant and cordial when I called him in November 2016 and said he would be out to see it the next week. Not having heard from him, I called after the holidays. I called again in early January 2017 and Nathan again said he "would be out to see it this week or next." Again, it didn't happen. As I haven't received a phone call yet, at this point I'm afraid it's not going to happen and I will be left to whatever legal remedies I might have. John F read more
