When i requested that DR STOKOL refer my file to someone that had knowledge of my situation(someone that had looked at my scans years earlier, DR STOKOL'S comment was "HE DIDN'T WANT TO BOTHER HIM WITH THIS". I have suddenly become a THIS. WHAT IS A THIS? The person i requested is well regarded and i personally was referred to him by one of his colleages years ago.A doctor i respected... THIS is my first review of a physician. You know what they say..Physician heal thyself..you need a lot of healing. your MD HAS GONE TO YOUR HEAD. You have a case of MD ITIS..PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT PATIENTS. THIS ONE IS TIRED OF THAT ATTITUDE. When i told the current doctor who sent me to STOKOL IN THE FIRST PLACE HE WAS SHOCKED AS WERE MY OTHER DOCTORS AND OTHER people i tell ..they were shocked and SPEECHLESS. If you think its about money it is not. Its about integrity. The refund concierge fee was to make a point. we are worth less than $50 each.so to all of you who are reading this find someone else who values you. he held that back that amount. obtw: He said he would refer my file to a couple of his friends instead.really? who? i didnt ask for that.. I have yet to get feedback from those who doctors? pals/ friends of his...referrals for insurance payment? , I tend to follow my instincts but because i was referred i let my guard down. i had mixed feelings about Dr Stokol as a first impression. I am writing this in the hopes it will spare someone else the grief and TIME I wasted. i was diagnosed but not by him. He was a waste of my time of which i have little left. i requested the concierge fee. he sent back all but $50. saying it was an admin fee. So WE ARE WORTH LESS THAN AN ADMIN FEE. i guess hes desparate for the few dollars. NO MORE CONCIERGE DOCS. ATTITUDE NOT APTITUDE is what i got. He was my first and last concierge doc.. Now i know what people are worth to him. Made light of my complaints until i emailed him with the diagnosis. I guess that got his attention. FIND SOMEONE ELSE who values your life. They all get paid they don't work for free. As they say time is money. HE WASTED MINE. WE should all be valued or what is the point of seeing a DOCTOR. if i am repeating its because i just cant get the words out of my head... I've been seeing this doctor for a few years now and I made an appointment for June 28th to see him again, so I show up early with my service animal and I check in with the receptionist and then I asked to use the restroom, she tells me where to go and I went on my way. I'm in the restroom about 3 minutes and I leave restroom and as I am walking back to the office the same receptionist comes out of the office coming towards me and she proceeded to tell me that my DOG was not allowed in the office. I then advised her that this isn't just a DOG as she put it, I told her that it was my service animal and that they had no problems with her the last time I was there. She then started getting really nasty telling me in a very condescending but quite natural way for her I imagine that I had never brought the DOG with me before. I then said that I've had my service animal since 2019, and my service animal has gone on every single doctor appointment that I've had ever since. I don't leave my apartment without my service animal lula. And I have alot of doctors. I am an hiv/aids survivor of 38 years, I found out at 17 in 1984 and I am turning 57 in November. I'm very lucky to be here, and blessed beyond my wildest dreams. As a part of my hiv I've had alot of neurological problems, excruciating pain in legs, feet, hands, and for a period of 2 years I couldn't walk. With the help of a GOOD neurologist I was able to get the right medical care and medication and can now walk again, and I walk everywhere. So back to my appointment X perience. She, the receptionist told me that the doctor would not see me with my DOG. so I left. 3 weeks go by and I get a call last Friday morning from Dr. Colin W. Stokol's office from that same nasty receptionist telling me they'd like to reschedule for me, I said great! She then says I have next Monday at 1:30pm or the next available appointment is in September. I jumped onto the Monday appointment. Great right? I needed to see him really bad. Pain has returned and needed physical therapy again and I was elated. 30 minutes go by and this nasty ass receptionist called me back to say she's sorry but that the doctor was not taking on any new patients, WTF! I then told her that you were the one calling me for an appointment after you basically told me to leave the office 3 weeks ago because of my DOG. And now you are telling me that Dr. Colin W. Stokol isn't taking any new patients when I'm not a new patient. I'm an existing patient, well I was. I wouldn't recommend this Dr. Colin W. Stokol to my worst enemy, front office sucks! They really know how to fuck with someone who's not in the mood or mindset to be fucked with. SO IF YOU ARE HIV/AIDS PATIENT OR IF YOU HAVE A SERVICE ANIMAL, DONT GO THERE. I was appalled enough by other people's reviews about this office that I had to come on here to write a glowing review. Not only is his front desk associate friendly and above and beyond helpful, she got me in on an earlier date than i had originally planned and we spent about 10 min on the phone talking about what is going on with COVID and how thankful i was that they were taking patients and how scary everything is right now. Dr. Colin Stokol could not have had a better bedside manner, he sat with me for 30 minutes while i did all kinds of tests. I had fell and hit my head so i did an EKG, a stress test and even wore a heart monitor for three days to make aure we weren't missing anything. He was quick to get back to me with my results and overall had an amazinf experience. My boyfriend qho has Kaiser even remarked that he has never experienced a doctor be so thorough. When you go to a doctor, come prepared. Know what medicines you are on. Write down things when they happen to you. The more info the specialist has the better, its about doing the work on your end as well to help them do their jobs. Quick feedback based on appointment scheduling attempt: Felt like shopping blind. No transparency on costs of a consult and no sign of a willingness to take an extra step to help obtain this info. "We do not do the billing here," is what I got. Called the next office on my list and got the opposite: "Here is the billing department's phone number; I can give you our tax id to check with your insurance." Say what you may about being put off by Dr. Stokol's staff or the good Dr.'s bedside manner. Both of which are commentary about inconvenience and are irrelevant to his actual practice. I was, at a time, having as many as 4 temporal lobe seizures per day! Dr. Stokol diagnosed me accurately and prescribed the appropriate medication when so many other doctors were at a loss. Dr. Stokol is great. I got everything I could hope for : assessment, diagnosis, expected outcomes, interventions, rationale and evaluation. If it was something serious he would call me. Never he redirected me to other doctors without doing his part of analysis/diagnosis. These were not usual recommendations / referrals for a fee like almost everyone else does, he considered my situation/ diagnosis/insurance and so on. We called this doctor's office on a Friday before a Wednesday appointment to say we would accompany a patient (with proper legal documents) to his office to go over a "plan of care" we were developing as required by the patient's insurance policy. The office staff said fine, see you Wednesday. We bought airline tickets and flew in for the appointment. At the appointment, Dr. Stokol refused to even read the document! Unbelievable. He told us he fills out a form for insurance companies for $25 and medicare won't cover it. Period. We asked what he would charge to read our document and he said "I won't read it." We could either handle the insurance company his way or the highway. Does he have experience getting patients' their rightful benefits with insurance companies? We happen to have experience dealing with insurance companies and know what we are doing. He wasn't even willing to try to help. Lovely bedside manner. Couldn't his office have told us before we bought airlines tickets a flew in he wouldn't read the document? Given our travels, perhaps he could have tried to help a patient that varied from his usual way? What a jerk - so much for helping patients to the best of your ability. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Stokol's for several years, and have needed his attention a few times. I have found him to be very responsive, concerned, and swift in the initiation of treatments that require complex coordination with multiple parties. He is easy to talk with, patient, and thorough. Are any reasons to visit a neurologist less than frightening? Not for me. I feel relief during challenging times because of his knowledge, action-orientation and kind demeanor. read more

I was suffering with severe neck pain with radiating nerve pain to my left arm which started in July. After seeing my HMO primary physician several times (which he suggested my wife massage me would help) I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Stokol. I am thankful that I found Dr. Stokol. He ordered the appropriate tests and quickly diagnosed me with a herniated cervical disc. He has been very helpful in my recovery stage at the time with out a need for surgical intervention so far. I am very grateful for the excellent care that the staff and Dr. Stokol has provided. It is time to find another primary HMO physician though. Great staff, great doctor who cares. He's guided me through my recovery from a brain injury. As the result of consulting with him for two years, I have come to have tremendous faith in his judgment and rational approach.
