Good location. Great service. Excellent food. Fun ambience. Good for dates, parties, and festive bar seating . It gets very busy, I recommend making reservations. A definitely a must try when in town.

One of our favorite places in Idaho Falls, Stockman's Restaurant presents a stable, consistent, comfortable, place for a wide selection of well-thought out and prepared dishes, ranging from mussels or ahi salad, to grilled steak. There is a decent little bar to boot, the main tender of which knows his trade. The ambiance is split between the two halves of the building: a cozy dinning room of booths and tables, and a more open bar space with summer patio. We prefer the bar area, ask for it and are often able to dine there, sometimes at the bar when alone, chatting with the bartender about cocktails, beer and liquors. Stockman's is popular for large groups having dinner together and can get noisy on Friday or Saturday evenings. Weekday lunch will often see small professional teams from the local offices talking over the day. Table service can vary in quality but the kitchen and bar don't.

I expected a little bit better. The service was good, but I think the team needs a little more coaching. The meal started with some great buns. They have a sweet finish on them and were super soft and warm. I ordered the smothered sirloin lunch special. I asked for no onions, and they were still all over the steak. It wasn't a great cut, but for a lunch special it worked. The loaded mashed potatoes side was the highlight, the flavors were booming! Unfortunately I didn't realize until I was walking out that my server overcharged me $6 for my meal. Double check your bill so it doesn't happen to you too.

My co-worker invited me to lunch here instead of dinner. The restaurant opened at noon. We arrived there at 12:05 and there was already a line. Good sign! The restaurant has a cabin feel to it with deer and elk heads on the walls. The ambiance was really nice. I ordered the chicken fried steak with the sauce on the side and clam chowder. They give you fresh baked rolls with honey butter. The rolls were warm and the honey butter was a great compliment. I asked the server if the clam chowder was New England clam chowder and she had no idea but seemed kind of annoyed that I asked. I asked her if it was white and she said yes, so I went ahead and tried it. The clam chowder came in a really small bowl. My co-worker ordered a salad and her salad was gargantuan compared to my bowl. To me, the clam chowder was way too salty. It did have nice chunks of clams and the ham did not overpower the soup. I was surprised being in Idaho that there were not huge chunks of potatoes. Overall, it was not bad. The chicken fried steak came right before we finished our side dish. The chicken fried steak diameter was as big as a cantaloupe! It had a beautiful Golden crust. They served it on top of the mash potato. I quickly took the steak off the potatoes so it would retain its crunchiness. On the side of the dish made it look even bigger! The gravy was home-made and had a little sausage in it to give it a good flavor. The mash potatoes had nice chunks of potatoes with the skin still on. It was seasoned perfectly but for me, I could've used another half pound of butter to make it perfect. The steak was seasoned just right and had an amazing crust on both sides. The meat did not have any fat and each bite dipped in the gravy satisfied my taste buds. I ordered the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake to go. For $10.99 a slice, this thing better be good! The description said it was an old family recipe. I had to take a quick bite before taking it home. Yes, it was definitely worth the $10.99 a slice! This is the first cheesecake that has real raspberries on top of the cheesecake! It was creamy with a slight tang from the cream cheese. Perfect blend of sweetness and tartness. I will have to try another slice before I leave Idaho in two weeks! My only complaint was that the server was always in an rush and did not refill my soda. I asked for extra gravy to go and there was gravy dripping all over the sides of the container. Also, it took forever to get our bill and boxes. Overall, it was a great choice for lunch!

Ask the Community - Stockman's Restaurant

Would this be good for a valentines dinner and formal dress?

It's a nice restaurant, and you could wear formal wear. (Most people are in jeans/work clothes from what I have observed on my visits ) But it is a good date spot. For a more formal location, I would recommend Jakers, The Cellar or Sandpiper though.… Read more

We walked in to a live band of jazz and felt like we had been taken back in time. Soiled Dove in Idaho Falls is a hidden gem for those craving hearty comfort food with a Western twist. Nestled in a cozy, rustic space adorned with vintage decor and warm lighting, this spot feels like a cross between a frontier saloon and a modern eatery--ideal for casual dinners, date nights, or post-adventure refueling. Perfect for a date night or just an out of town get away like we had. The drinks are ANOTHER LEVEL. I was boring with a smokey old fashion that left my hair smelling amazing the next morning. The man on my arm got a soiled dove #2 and it was tasty if you like a lot of sweetness. We met someone outside the place named Shawn who was a local there and he said the food was life changing. His go to: the meat balls and feta salad. Shout out to the boss babe who clearly either owned or lead the establishment. Total Sicilian Mob Boss vibes. You inspire me, Sis. From your outfits to the way you carry yourself, you are it girlfriend! Your staff made us feel at home and the security was tight. We will be back next Sturgis trip.

She also spilled water on my husband and the table and didn't offer to clean it up or acknowledge it. The drinks were extremely overpriced -- a simple double Maker's Mark was $28. At that price I could have bought an entire bottle and had a better evening without this experience. To make things more confusing, a gratuity fee was added to only certain people at the table instead of the whole group. The atmosphere also wasn't very welcoming. If you're looking for a fun night out with good service, I would recommend XVIII instead. Unfortunately, this was not the experience we expected for the prices being charged.
