On the first week of September, I stopped at the cosmetic department looking for a certain Finnish facial creme, Lumene, for my friend back home. Luckily they had it. When completing my shopping and paying for my purchase, this wonderful sales associate, Pirjo, helped me. She was very friendly and professional, and took her time to assist me. Pirjo even helped me to make my purchase with a gift card and gave me a sample of a new perfume. Throughout the years Sokos has maintained it's high customer service standards. It's a very clean and well organized store. I can highly recommend a visit to this shopping adventure.

It's home to a large variety of shops and department stores. They had lots of places to get shoes, clothes, and other things you'd usually get at the mall. There's some wonderful architecture in here, how they've converted a big courtyard into an atrium with a glass roof covering the open area. There is a food court here, but nothing special in there- McDonalds and other chain restaurants. I recommend going elsewhere for food. The mall is huge- about a whole city block. It serves as a good way to cut through to the next block while staying warm and out of the snow. While here, be sure to check out the wide spiral staircase that ascends to the top floor. The mall is moderate to high end shops, with well organized shops. The mall felt safe, well lit, and clean. There's free wifi, and plenty of seating throughout the mall. I couldn't find the public restrooms. It's a pretty good place to go shopping, or just do some browsing in the Design District of Helsinki! Every other shop here seems to sell Moomin stuff. For some reason, the Finns are into a cartoon hippo, Moomin. What do hippos have to do with Finland??! I looked and looked for actual hippopotami while in Finland, and didn't see any.

I thought it was very fun that part of the Muji store was actually not Muji. There was a small section for a luxury resale store, and there was also a section that featured local artists and their goods. I ended up buying a cute Helsinki wood magnet here and my friend brought some Finland prints. The prices did not seem too bad for most of the items. Prints were like 1-2 euros. I saw someone selling really cute stickers, magnets, prints, etc. and it reminded me of my home local craft fairs. The rest of Muji (Muji proper) had your usual Muji goods like stationery, clothing, home goods, etc. I love all of this stuff and wish I could take everything home. I'm fond of their notebooks and pens, travel accessories, home slippers, clothing, etc. They also have a lot of cool packaged snacks that looked interesting to try.
