Impressive men's store with great fabrics and patterns. Edgy, but not so much that you can't wear it to a posh event or family dinner. Great for guys who want to stay in style, yet be comfortable. For cool teens through daper older gents. read more

Variety Second Hand & Vintage

Since my first visit I've accumulated quite a few awesome, smaller sized items (the store is focused on men's wear, but stocks small sizes and unisex stuff for the ladies) including a Gucci sweater, Pendleton wool shirt, and Carhartt work pants. They have a lot of mint condition brand names to choose from, and quite a variety (har, har) of styles and brands represented. The owner is helpful and conversational, as well as knowledgable about his stock. If you love vintage clothing and are in Helsinki, this should be your first stop!
Cool pieces but a very small shop and kind of awkward. In the photos it looks much bigger but it…read moreactually is quite small and doesn't have many racks. Also it was quite pricey. If you're willing to spend a few extra bucks for vintage designer pieces like Kappa or Champion, (they also have vintage sports jerseys) this is a great option for you. I guess it depends when you go and when they restock and get new items.

An eclectic selection of designers at any price point without feeling like you sold your soul for a pair of khakis. I like the idea of having two shops with two different identities but also carry the same brands. Beamhill and Beam are now my go to place any time I'm in Finland. Thanks to P from the Beams location.

It's very expensive but a lot of it is worth it because of the cool design. Definitely worth the money and recommend shopping here if you're visiting Helsinki.
This seems like a larger Marimekko in Helsinki (and, we walked past a few of them!) There's an…read moreupstairs and a downstairs which includes mostly womenswear and accessories--with the surprising exception of what I think were a few menswear items! Whatever guy is walking around sporting Marimekko is a pretty cool fella in my book! Unfortunately... I could not convince my significant other to purchase the man-bag (i think it was actually unisex) that I was waving in the air at him. LOL! Maybe next time. ;) I didn't know that much about the famed Marimekko brand before my trip to Helsinki, but it's actually pretty interesting! Before we got there, I went to the website and read/watched the whole "about us" section. It had all these great creative videos and descriptions of how they design, print and construct their creations. I think in such a mass-produced era of factory goods it's easy to take for granted the craftsmanship behind the scenes. Without any knowledge of the brand I could've easily just walked in and out like "ehhh... another bold print. Don't they have fabric like this at IKEA?" But, by just going to their wonderfully designed website before coming to the actual store it made me really appreciate what I was seeing in person. Plus, I'm pretty sure that a lot of those IKEA fabric prints are a "inspired" (slightly copied) version of the original artistry you see here. Before you head to the store, I really suggest that you check the site to see a little more about what actually goes on behind those iconically Finnish bold patterns! I know that I understood and appreciated it much more than I would've otherwise.

At the grocery department you can find all kinds of goodies, pastry, fresh meat, fish, specialty products, and international foods. You also have several options to have something to eat either at the restaurant located upstairs, or at the many coffee/snack shops. This is like a huge fancy shopping opportunity for demanding shoppers. You can shop for beautiful handbags, high-end clothing and shoes, or if you favor a certain domestic or international cosmetic brand, they have it. Don't forget souvenirs, toys, home goods and Finnish design items. The customer service department will ship things for you to destinations all over the world and help you with duty free shopping. Among many other notable things is a big Alko store. This is the government monopolized liquor store. So, if you find great delicatessen for lunch or dinner, you will also have the opportunity to purchase alcoholic beverages to go along with your meals. Really, if you want to spend time and money here, it is truly worth the trip, and everlasting experience while in Helsinki. The best thing at Stockman building is electronics store called Power that I just discovered last Summer. They sell variety of appliances, phones and so on. Found a table phone for my mom who needed to replace her old one. She uses it for Skype calls from the USA. Customer service at this place is priceless. The young men helping me during my visits were so knowledgeable, patient and friendly. One nice traditional point about Stockman is, that they have a clock on the Alexanterinkatu side of their many entrances. That is famous among all people living in Helsinki. When meeting friends, we used to say: "Meet me under the Stockman's clock." Happy shopping and maybe I will see you there.

And then you get to the regular store which has everything you could possibly want and or need. I would equate it to a Nordstroms, or Macys. Nice quality brands and fair pricing. As a fun bonus I definitely recommend going down to bottom floor and you will find a very nice grocery store with all kinds of products. There is also ready to eat goods, hot, cold, fresh breads, pastries. Inside the store is also an outlet section if you're into a bargain! Who doesn't live a clearance section?? It's a fun store to wander around for sure!
