The staff is really friendly and seem like they are nice folks, so 2 stars for that. Onion rings are cold, and the other stuff arrives straight from the microwave scorching hot. These people steal from you and very unprofessional so watch your stuff. This was my first time to this place and before I was even able to sit I went to the restroom. I set my phone down on the toilet paper dispenser, used, washed, and walked out forgetting my phone. One of the waitresses walked in right after me and when I realized I had forgotten my phone not but 30 seconds later I ran back in the same waitress was still in the stall. I knocked on the stall door and asked her if she had seen a phone in there and she stated no. So I walked over to what they call The Cage and nothing had been turned in. I go back to the stall and the same waitress is still in there so I ask again. My friend calls my phone and I hear it ring but the girl ignores it right away. So my friend calls it again and no ring. I can see through the cracks of the stall and I see the girl messing around the toilet paper dispenser so I'm waiting for her to come out. She comes out and I ask her again she says no I only have my phone. I went to the Manager and that lady was even rude and acted like we were in the wrong. Long story short when I found it I approached the girl showed her that I found my phone that's she hid tucked in the toilet paper dispenser and a male waiter came up to me and told me to get the Fuck out of there as if I was in the wrong. The Stockade is both a bar and restaurant that share a patio dining area and a covered space. The menu is varied and there is a bit of everything available. Visiting Deadwood and there is a lot going on, families walking the streets, people sight seeing. We noticed there really is not a whole lot of dining options. We had passed by the Stockade a few times and its a bar with a open patio, looked busy enough so we ventured in. There was an 1 hour wait for inside, and it was hot that day so I can see why people were inside. The waiter said the patio was first come first serve, so we waited. We were able to get a table with an umbrella, which was nice. Waiter was prompt and took our drink order. The bus boy and waiter on the patio were so busy, but really took care of us. The menu is basic, sandwiches, burgers and a few salads. I went with the BLT and my better half ordered a version of a western bacon cheeseburger. All was good, food and service. I do not think all of the bad reviews are earned. Its a good option when everyone in your group is hungry. read more

Stopped in for lunch but it was just a liquid lunch. I had the puppies with me and they were more than welcoming and friendly with the dogs on large patio area but limited menu... that included mountain oysters is anyone is interested.... so I had a beer, (dogs had a cool bowl of water thanks to the kind waitress) very much enjoyed the live entertainment and absolutely beautiful day here in Deadwood. On 8/8 my friends and I went to go hang out at this location. The ladies went to use the restroom and one of them left their cell phone in the stall. The ladies exited the restroom as a staff member entered. She immediately realized she left her phone and returned to the restroom. The staff member was still in the stall as my friend asked if there was a cell phone left in there. She would not answer. When she exited the stall they asked her again and she responded with a shake of her head and said she only had her phone. They proceeded to ask the manager if anyone had turned in a phone and they said no. They pointed out the staff member to the manager and the manger denied that the staff member would do such a thing.They went back to the restroom to check one last time and noticed that the staff member hid the phone in the toilet paper dispenser which they found. They then went back to confront the staff member and she was defended by another staff member and immediately asked them to get the f- out of there. What kind of establishment backs up their employee that is stealing from customers. Needless to say we decided not to dine there. Very unprofessional staff, especially the young blond with the accent. Watch your stuff if you still decide to dine there. They don't deserve the one star that yelp requires you to put down. read more

I hate to do this, but it was well deserved. Restaurant is poorly laid out, customers must walk through the dining area to enter and exit the restaurant, as the hostess station is behind the dining area. We were seated quickly, but that's when the service stopped. After about 15 minutes we got a waitress, and ordered drinks. I understand coffee at 7:30 pm isn't exactly high demand, but the coffee was Luke warm at best and not anywhere near fresh. The sugar in the tray was water soaked, and when I asked her for more sugar, I got asked what kind. I guess she was asking if I wanted sweetener. My thought was asking for sugar meant I want sugar. I switched to Mountain Dew. I got one glass, she never refilled it despite being empty for my entire meal. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu, a rack of ribs. It comes with soup or salad, I tried to order a soup since it was chilly outside. They didn't have any soup. So I got a very basic garden salad. 5 minutes later, I get told they don't have ribs either. Switched to steak tips. Food quality was good, no real complaints but portions were small. The restaurant had some flies that annoyed us. Overall I was very disappointed. I feel I need to give some positives, so here goes. Country music was nice and at a good volume, alcoholic drinks were served quickly, cold, and refilled often. read more

The place is not setup well and the young ladies working there act like you're bothering them from the minute you show up. They're not friendly and our waitress disappeared out the door and down the street after our food was served and when we asked the hostess for our bill, she looked confused and picked up her phone to call someone ( I assume the disappearing waitress ) Finally we got our bill from another waitress. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. We stopped in twice. Once for lunch and once for a drink. Both times it was their live entertainment, in the form of Yancey, that propelled us to stop. Yancey plays guitar and sings in the open area that is in front of the restaurant. Yancey is an excellent entertainer and can be kinda crude and vulgar.....definitely R-rated at times. If you don't like it you can keep moving as there are plenty of other places in the area to eat and be entertained. As for my husband and I that's the exact kind of entertainment we were looking for. For lunch we split a buffalo burger and fries. We also got an order of pickle fries. We got the buffalo burger just to be able to say we did as neither of us had one before. It wasn't bad but I think I will stick with plain old beef the next time. The fries were great as well as were the pickle fries. There was plenty of food for the both of us and we did not walk away hungry. Our waitress for lunch was awesome.....she was very friendly and attentive. The waitress we had when we went back for a drink was attentive but she lacked people skills and was not very friendly. However she WAS attentive and I'll give her that. If she had been our first waitress I'm not entirely certain that we would have been back. read more

We ate here 7 times during our trip and was never disappointed! The drinks kept flowing and the outdoor area was great to spend time in. We were seated in their open air patio. They did allow us to bring in our dog. The food was good. We had burgers and fries. Their buffalo chips were very good. Their entertainer on the patio was the deal breaker. He was vulgar, told inappropriate jokes and profanity. I have read a few reviews on the negative comments about the food and Yancey, my wife and I absolutely love this place, we may get a appetizer to snack on while having a cold drink of choice. What really attracted us was Yancey, we walked by one day and heard him singing one of his many originals, we usually spend 2 or 3 hours there, and get the biggest kick out him, he can be rough around the edges which we like, it is a bar people, take the kids to Mc Donald's parents, we will be there August 1 & 2 2018, we will be the ones laughing and enjoying Yancey's talent! I would give this place a 3.5. Surprisingly good food from the patio menu. Driving across the country with a dog limits your options of places to eat and this was one of the only patios in Deadwood! The pulled pork was delicious and well spiced. I like that the BBQ was put on separately and not marinated with it. The wings were good, but overpriced. The burger was also delicious. They had live music on the patio that seemed like a comedy show at times and great service. Overall a great experience. read more
