BBAC caught my eye from all the reviews of happy customers, being responsibly priced, and close-ish to my house. I called and made an appointment, they got me in fairly quickly (within 2-3 days). After dropping it off, I received a text with the estimate and okayed it right then and there. I needed a new hose/ ac system. I loved this easy way of communication. It was expensive, but after comparing prices with other spots and doing my research, it was a bit less than what others have been charged for the same. It was ready the next day, and it was so nice to have a fully working ac in the heat again. I've had no issues since. Cars aren't fun to fix and spend money on, but I feel like this was as painless as it could have been. I'd definitely return for services!

I called Big Bend Auto Center to get an estimate for a brake job--what a frustrating experience…read more First off, they don't give estimates over the phone, which is fair. So, I scheduled an appointment for Thursday. However, the person I spoke with had a really unpleasant attitude. He kept questioning whether I had the right place, repeating, "We're Big Bend Auto Center, not the other Big Bend Auto store." Why would I be calling if I wasn't sure? It came off as condescending. Then he told me I couldn't wait for my car, and when I asked again--just to clarify if I could wait while they did the estimate--he rudely said no. At that point, I decided to take my business elsewhere. If you can't treat your customers with basic respect, why would I trust you with my car? It's disappointing, especially since they have decent reviews on Yelp and Google. I expected better. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite.

The Web shows they merged with Steger, but it's now just Steger and they no longer specialize in foreign cars. They provided a loaner, but had I gone to the dealer I would have had a nice ride. In a word, you can trust him. On a road trip from Texas to Wisconsin, my 2002 Suburban broke down on the interstate not far from Don's shop. County Brake towed my vehicle and resolved multiple issues stemming from a wire short (probably the result of a previous repair not quite done correctly). Don put his top mechanic on it and methodically worked through each system impacted by the short. The impacts were extensive, time consuming, and costly, but each system was tested, each solution verified with me before repair, and only performed because it was necessary to get me back on the road. I was really in a position where Don could have taken advantage of my vulnerability of being stranded, but what I experienced instead was quality work, care for my well being, flexibility, superb communication, and extra diligence to make my vehicle reliable. He even gave me a significant discount to help offset the circumstances I was in. I am grateful to have found this shop and it hit all the high notes of what I look for in a repair shop. I learned through experience County Brake is a shop run by people you can trust. They got me back on the road and safely to my destination.
