I had a really good experience here. My car's AC went out (mid July in stl- love that for me) and searched Yelp for spots to get it fixed. BBAC caught my eye from all the reviews of happy customers, being responsibly priced, and close-ish to my house. I called and made an appointment, they got me in fairly quickly (within 2-3 days). After dropping it off, I received a text with the estimate and okayed it right then and there. I needed a new hose/ ac system. I loved this easy way of communication. It was expensive, but after comparing prices with other spots and doing my research, it was a bit less than what others have been charged for the same. It was ready the next day, and it was so nice to have a fully working ac in the heat again. I've had no issues since. Cars aren't fun to fix and spend money on, but I feel like this was as painless as it could have been. I'd definitely return for services! read more

I called Big Bend Auto Center to get an estimate for a brake job--what a frustrating experience. First off, they don't give estimates over the phone, which is fair. So, I scheduled an appointment for Thursday. However, the person I spoke with had a really unpleasant attitude. He kept questioning whether I had the right place, repeating, "We're Big Bend Auto Center, not the other Big Bend Auto store." Why would I be calling if I wasn't sure? It came off as condescending. Then he told me I couldn't wait for my car, and when I asked again--just to clarify if I could wait while they did the estimate--he rudely said no. At that point, I decided to take my business elsewhere. If you can't treat your customers with basic respect, why would I trust you with my car? It's disappointing, especially since they have decent reviews on Yelp and Google. I expected better. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. read more

Absolute professionals. These guys took me in right away even though they were already busy and were able to get me fixed up and out the door in under 30 minutes. I highly recommend you go to Big Bend Auto Center. Make sure to tell Mike that he is THE MAN! read more

Big Bend Auto is my go to place for car maintenance. Their prices are reasonable, staff are professional, and they take time to explain things to me and let me know what my car actually needs. read more

Called to ask about Tire services and breaks and spoke to a very rude and condescending employee when only asking two questions. I want to say his name was Matt, but could be wrong . Called at 12:30 on tuesday march 25th. If you're the owners I would really look into this , as a woman calling this man is very disrespectful and I called because of the good reviews online. read more

They've gained a lifelong customer, and I am absolutely recommending them to friends and family. I was told by a supposedly trusted and well-respected Japanese auto shop in STL that my brakes and rotors needed replaced. Well, I ended up at Big Bend Auto for an emissions test and decided to just book with them while I was there for brakes and tire replacement. First, at my emissions appointment, I was under the impression I needed a safety test as well. They said my car only need an emissions test, which saved me a bit of money. Next, during the brakes and tires appt, they ended up calling me to tell me there was no need for my brakes to be replaced. This saved me almost $600 dollars. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! read more

These are THE GO-TO mechanics in the STL area. The people here are both incredibly friendly and very skilled, and their prices are always very reasonable as well. The place also has a large waiting area with coffee, mints, chocolates, and light reading material. Since this place is the best around it can get very busy, so you need to make an appointment ahead of time. Can't endorse this place enough. read more

Big Bend Auto Center (the one this review pertains to) gets confused unfairly even by tow truck drivers with Big Bend Automotive down the street in Maplewood which I mistakenly posted for an experience some years ago, never to return. My ABS sensors were faulty. Obscured by dirt. My Silverado would not stop. After downloading GM service reports, took it to 1710 S. Big Bend. Cautioned service manager for techs to be very careful backing it up in the lot. Picked vehicle up (told ABS sensors cleaned but not replaced) only to learn next morning tailgate door would not open. It had been backed into wall pushing bumper in and denting at the right rear corner. The tailgate metal panel was crimped. Shop's owner said mechanic responsible denied any responsibility. Charged me full rate including a research fee for the very reports I'd provided. Further follow-up on Chevy forum advised to pull fuse for ABS/Cruise Control to disengage and avoid future collision. The ABS light has stayed on but not negated passing a safety inspection. Apologies to their competition today for posting on the wrong site on Yelp! Needing brake work. Won't use this shop closest to I-64/HWY 40. read more

I had an issue with my car that needed to be emergently checked out, and I just moved to St. Louis so don't have a regular mechanic. I called at 7am and they could fit me right away for a check. They got my car checked out so quickly and were so nice and helpful. Mike showed me what the issue was while my car was on the lift (amazing) and explained it all. I felt that they were honest with me and I'm more confident in my car now. They also have super reasonable pricing and I'm so thankful they were able to check my car out. Mike was very straightforward with me and answered all my questions after. He said they are usually pretty booked up for routine services (so make appointments in advance) but they are always available to help for emergency issues. It's not every day you find a shop like this, I will absolutely be back here for all my car needs in the future! read more

Have been here twice now and had quick and reliable service both times. They were booked for a week and a half and were able to squeeze me in for an emissions. Was in and out quickly. Polite customer service. Also got a quote on new breaks. Everyone was willing to answer questions and be helpful. read more

These guys are tremendous. We had a complicated electrical issue that started as the result of a broken headlamp in our Jeep Cherokee. They replaced the headlamp, but found that there were still electrical issues due to moisture that had migrated into the wiring system when the headlamp cracked. They were thorough in their analysis and spent the time needed to get to the root cause and fix the issue. All along the process they kept us up to date on progress and what to expect. We received far better service than we have at a local dealer... Good guys and we'll definitely use them in the future. read more

I came to get my emissions inspection and they were so friendly and helpful! They got me in and out in 10 minutes! The place was clean and efficient. Would return again. read more

We had a leaky valve on our tire that led to multiple flats. Big Bend Auto Center could fit us in quickly, finished the repair quicker than promised and charged a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them. read more

I needed to get my emissions testing done, and I found this place on yelp after looking around a bit. I found the process for booking an appointment really easy, held a time within the week, and I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Everyone was really nice throughout the whole process - I would definitely recommend this place! read more

I didn't expect the level of professionalism and service for a car that was my son's old "beater". They were thorough, made sure his car was safe, and went above and beyond in terms of service. My son now has a safe, dependable car that will last him well into graduating from college. Thank you very much and you rarely find mechanics as passionate and knowledgeable as this team. read more

Had a fantastic experience here getting my oil changed and what I originally thought was a broken windshield fluid container that was causing a low-fluid alarm in my car. I was quoted several hundred dollars to replace the container because we thought there was a hole in it but couldn't be sure until I brought the car in and got the hood up. The technician ended up finding the container just off its mooring and replaced the seal for a few dollars. Miraculously this also must have freed up a wire to my navigation unit because my screen had not been working for a month and Audi told me it was going to cost $2000 to replace it. As a bonus, all the employees I dealt with were super friendly and appreciative of my business. Because of Covid 19 precautions, the tech wiped down my handles, steering wheel and key with a Clorox wipe. Great service! read more

They fixed my car so it passed emissions and didn't try to rip me off like so many shops do. High quality work, professional and would recommend to anyone looking for a decent car repair shop. read more

I have been coming here for years. They have always done great work, mechanics are honest, and don't ever try to up-sell. Recently had an issue with a repair. When I explained the problem, they didn't deny responsibility, or try to blame me, they just wanted to make it right. I highly recommend! read more

I was driving across country with my son and we had stopped in St Louis for the night. My son's car window switch went out and the window was stuck down. It happened to be 12 degrees that morning and I wasn't looking forward to 850 miles freezing. Big Bend Auto Center was nearby so we stopped in to see if they could help us out. Although the shop was very busy, they stopped what they were doing to help us out so we could get on the road. In 20 minutes they had us on our way and at a great price. I can't think them enough. read more

Recommending this place if you need any service done on your car; they were fast, curious and outstanding pricing. It is RARE to find a business that will go above and beyond these day, everyone is so busy and expensive. These guys didn't even know me and helped me out. I will be moving all of my car service to this place. Thank you! read more

For nearly 30 years we have used the automotive services of Big Bend Auto for all of our family cars. They are one of St Louis' best kept secrets! read more

I have been here twice now and both times had great service. They are now my spot for tires and oil changes.

I can't say enough good things about these guys! I brought my car in today because I it was making a rattling sound and they checked my car out immediately, figured out what was wrong, and fixed it without charging me a thing because it was so minor. My partner has had even more great experiences with them - they're quick, super honest & reasonably priced, and never pressure you into things you don't need. I'm usually nervous to get my car worked on because I don't know anything about cars and don't want to get scammed, but everyone at big bend is so down to earth that I'm never concerned at all. read more

Update: Big Bend Auto took care of the rear window on my Honda Fit. Because they work with a 3rd party for window replacements the job was misquoted, but the owner honored the original quote at checkout. I'm new to Saint Louis and went here to have inspections done on my vehicles. I ended up having to replace the windshield on my Jeep Wrangler in order for it to pass. In addition, not two weeks later I'm currently working with them to replace my rear window on a Honda Fit. Service seems to be really great with quick turnarounds and a really personable staff. I did however drop a star for two reasons: 1) I feel that the price for the windshield replacement was pretty steep. It ended up costing close to $250, which doesn't seem too crazy until you realize how cheap flat windshields for Jeep wranglers are. I'm about to find out how expensive a domed window is with my Honda Fit. 2) I'm willing to call it a fluke, but a week later, and they never got back to me on my inquiry about my rear window. All that being said, I have a good feeling about them and feel that they are honest. read more

Absolutely excellent service. Efficient, trustworthy, kind, VERY knowledgeable, and helpful! Without hesitation, I would recommend this business to my own sister, friends, etc. Big Bed Auto was very thorough in analyzing our vehicle and telling us what all COULD be fixed, but they were also very direct in helping me decide what actually NEEDED to be fixed, and what could wait and/or wasn't really necessary. And, to put a cherry on top, the people there have a great sense of humor! read more

I'm here in the waiting room and am so impressed, I felt compelled to write the review. Tom answered the phone and was so nice. I was in their center in less than 10 minutes getting an oil change. Tom has been in this same building since 1979, his co-worker? Since 1974. These guys know what they are doing but are not arrogant. The owner is super nice, too. Clean and organized waiting room. We'll be back! read more

Very honest, friendly and patient people, and impressive enviroment. They didn't try to sell me anything during my experience there. After i did my inspection in Fire***ne, it told me that my car had a leaking tire and tried to sell me a 700 bucks maintenance service. Thought that's weird for my cheap civic and decided to try my luck in big bend auto. Guess what... Turned out that there was no leaking tire and i only spent 40 bucks to get all things done there. Will definitely come back here in the future. read more

Ok these guys are the real deal. For the pass 6 months my regular car tire place has been telling me I needed new brakes. I moved my business to Maplewood so I wanted to business with a mom and pa operation. So I go in there and say hey I need new brakes. They quote me a fair price and take the car in. 20 min later they call me and tell me 'you don't need new brakes your current brakes have 70% of their life left in them. Who told you or what made you think needed new brakes? That kind of service and honesty just doesn't exist any more. New car place: found! read more

I was in and out within 10 minutes for an emissions test I set an appointment for 2 days ago. They had chocolate, water and a Keurig for coffee. They also have a very clean waiting area. If you sneeze, you might miss the location but I was in very good hands with friendly Dave and Steve who made sure I was made aware that I was past due for an oil change although I was in there for an emissions test. Just the fact he even cared to mention it made me feel like they pay close attention to detail even at high level. I'll be back next week for an oil change :-) read more

I went in for an emissions test and failed because the check engine light was on. They didn't give me any idea of what it would take to fix it, just gave me the error code and suggested that I call the dealer, even though I said it wasn't under warranty. I called the dealer to confirm that it's not covered. I took it to another shop who says that the fuse that powers the check engine light is missing. It had to be there when I took it to Big Bend because they were able to pull the code. I'm very disappointed and will never go back. read more

Big Bend Auto Center was great. They got me in the next day and were prompt and very helpful!

This was my first visit to Big Bend Auto Center. I will first say I have never seen such a clean and orderly auto center! Quite impressive considering the type of work that takes place there. Second, no service was performed without my pre approval and everything was explained in detail so I could make an informed decision. I will definitely return to Big Bend Auto for my future service needs read more

Service here is friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. I called to get a quote for an oil change. My car service warning came on but I had just changed the oil less than 2,000 miles ago so I asked if it was something to be concerned about. Mike saved me some dough by reassuring me that it simply wasn't reset the last time it was serviced and informed me how to do it, while offering to do it for me if I wanted. Such a simple issue with a straightforward solution. Price quoted was very fair. I would definitely bring my car into Big Bend next time I'm in STL. read more

David and his entire staff were super friendly and accommodating on this hot summer Friday before a holiday week by getting me in last minute for an emissions check. I'm so glad I found this place being new to the area the possibilities are many but glad I found this local shop. Will definitely recommend them and will use in the future for all my needs. They were great!!! read more

Went in to have my a/c drain unclogged. While there found out that the drain overflowed and water got into the blower motor. The quote that we were given to have the blower motor replaced included 2 hours of labor on it. Well I refused that, took it home and replaced it myself in 15 minutes. Literally 3 screws and a plug. I don't know anything about cars either so it's not like I do this all the time. Will never go back and would advise others to stear clear. read more

Spoke by phone and recirved friendly, honest advice, saving us money. Would definitely return here when service is needed. Thanks!

Great service and kind people! I was able to get an appointment quickly, and they resolved the issue in 10 minutes free of charge.

The team at Big Bend is so helpful and personable! As my car was being worked on, the mechanic explained everything thoroughly and fielded all my questions. read more

I cannot say enough about the guys who work here: they helped me with my last car when I was having trouble and needed some issues fixed prior to passing an emissions test. I now have a new car and stopped in yesterday (begging) for a tire repair as I'd run over a screw. He got me in and out in under 30 min. They were really busy and I couldn't have been more appreciative. It is BEST if you make an appt as it seems they are always busy, which to me is a good sign. Most of the men here have a good deal of experience and it shows: they are professional, friendly, and I would trust my car & safety with them any day of the week. read more
