I grew up in Findlay and a firm believer that a vibrant and healthy downtown business community and people centrist culture is a sign of economic growth/stability. So, it was good to come home and see the downtown restaurant scene busy as it was for me on recent Saturday night. Good review #1-the front of the house knew the menu and offered suggestions; #2-the chef was in the house; #3-good cocktail, wine and spirit selection: #4 Brussel Sprouts - you will want to marry them! The soy and honey glaze was delicious. #5 Seared Ahi Tuna was fresh and perfectly prepared with lemon and orange shoyu sauce; #6 Love a good fish taco and was not disappointed by the Mahi Mahi and their version of roja. The food at Stix is really good but the service is terrible. We went there for bottomless mimosas and had to ask several times for refills and finally got them after waiting for a long period of time. After finishing eating we waited 30+ mins to get our checks only for the server to mess up how they were split. We went for an hour long brunch and it took us 2.5 hours to get in and out. Ate here with a group of friends while driving through Findlay. The menu items are pricey, but the food was great. It's a rather small restaurant so I wouldn't recommend it for large parties. Very disappointed in my last two experiences at Stix. Both times we had reservations and were seating with a few minutes. However, our entrees took over 45 minutes to arrive after ordering. Service was incredibly slow. In fact this last time we ended up leaving after just our appetizer was served that also took 25 min to arrive. I've been coming to Findlay for business for the last 18 years, though these days, its typically a trip once every 1-2 years. This is by far the best dinner I've had over those 18 years as a visiting guest. We had two appetizers, shrimp Tostada and the wings. Both were excellent. The wings were enough for 3+ people to share. You get two Tostadas to an order. We did split them, though given the crunchy nature of the dish, it didn't share as well beyond 2. I got the Hong Kong noodles. It was an interesting set of flavors that was a cross between Italian spaghetti and an Asian Noodle dish. It was a huge portion, well beyond my ability to finish it. All the food came up fresh and hot. The server was nice and competent. She knew the menu really well. We had one veg in our group and she was quickly able to navigate which dishes would work for him and was careful about eggs/no eggs in those dishes. The decor is spartan, the space small and the tables layout a bit tight. This is certainly a place I would come back to in the future and look forward to eating there. read more

This is a great place to eat. It's small and cute....industrial feel. We had the pork belly and fried chicken bao buns, Brussel sprouts, and Octopus as an appetizer. I was a little freaked out by the Octopus, but everyone else liked it...we all had a little taste of it. I had the tuna poke`. It was awesome. It had grapefruit and chunks of tuna on greens. I had the steak and my wife had the duck. She really liked her meal and I loved the tender steak. The staff was friendly and quick. I would suggest reservations as the place was busy. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but we did so by going to the local coffee shop and listening to music. They called when a table was open and held it for us as we walked back. Walked in with a 5 person group and no reservation on Saturday night. We were greeted warmly but it was clear that seating 5 with no notice required some shuffling. There are only about 10 tables, if that, so if you do have more than a standard 2-4 people, I would call ahead. They have a great big beer list which is well created, and the cocktail we tried (planter's punch) was strong and delicious. They also serve hot tea which comes in a french press is and a generous amount. We started with the bao buns which had a great filling but were kind of dry. The fish tacos were great, though. I had a stone bowl for my entree, which was very bland. They give you one sauce to add to taste, but other than that, the rice, veggies, and tofu were completely unseasoned as far as I could tell. I ended up bringing most of it home and doctoring it up. The thai coconut shrimp was yummy and the curry flavor was delicious. I also tried the poke bowl which had a delicious nuanced fresh flavor. The space is lofted which leads to a loud little restaurant which made it hard to have a conversation sometimes, but I really enjoyed the warm and contemporary decor and service was overall friendly. I really enjoyed our dinner, but there are a few kinks like consistency in flavors and sound level the could be addressed to make this a four star experience for me. read more

I was in town for work this week and wow! This place is honestly the best meal I had in the greater Toledo/Findlay area! The portions are huge and the flavor is so complex, not to mention their beer and cocktail list are incredible. I was not expecting Findlay to have such an amazing and different food place; it reminded me of getting food in a major big city and it was super hip and modern. The patio is also phenomenal. The service and the owners are A+ human beings and went above and beyond for everything. If you are looking for somewhere good to eat, I definitely recommend this place. Normally, I have nothing but nice things to say about STIX. Today, is a completely different story. We (party of 5) ordered lunch and appetizers. Our appetizers came timely and were delicious. Our entree however, was a different story. We waited 45 minutes before asking about food. The waitress told us ours would be a bit before it came out because we had appetizers. We waited another 10 minutes only to watch patrons who ordered AT LEAST 30 min after us, get their food, eat it, and leave while we sat here waiting for food. I understand they were very busy but this is just terrible customer service. If they lost the order, just fess up and tell us it will be right up. But coming up with a terrible excuse about ordering appetizers is just bad. I've always loved STIX, so I hope the next time I come in my opinion is swayed and I can change this review. read more

My wife and I have eaten here several times and our meals are always fantastic. The saki fried chicken is always a good choice and the hot stone bibimbop soup has been outstanding everytime. I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to give it a 3 or 4 star review because of a few things. I have been here twice and the first time was okay. The food was good. There isn't any question about that. The space was very small however and we didn't make res so we sat at the window bar section. We did not receive really any service there the whole time. The food is on the pricey side for what you get. I'm all about small portions (the appetizers) but the cost just hardly made sense. My husband and I went back again to give it another try and order entrees this time. I ordered the Sake Fried Chicken (the green beans were amazing too, but rich!), and he, the Hong Kong noodles. We both love our food. It was incredible! And the portions were huuuuuge! There was not a long wait for our food either. But to be honest the service isn't what you pay for. They wear street clothes, to put it simply and aren't incredibly attentive or friendly. I enjoyed having the Bibimbap (first time with this dish for me), and Tim enjoyed a duck dish....plus we had a lettuce wrap app...more than enough food f'sure! The menu has a nice selection of Asian-fusion-style dishes, and it is BYOB, so you can bring your own wine if you wish, although we opted not to do so. I was really surprised to find this in a smaller downtown like Findlay, and it's somewhere we'd definitely visit if we are ever down this way again. Awesome place!!! We went there with a group of 6 and my two kids. Of all the nights we take our girls with us we had SLOW service. So slow we didn't have time to try the dessert! :( that was a big disappointment for me because I have a sweet tooth. I've eaten here a number of times & I have yet to be disappointed. Their food is always absolutely amazing. The restaurant is small, modern & clean. Now that it is no longer BYOB, they have a drink selection that is great, from beers to cocktails to wines. Now, onto the food. I've sampled just about everything on the menu. My favorite thing to do is go with a big group, skip the entrees & share a BUNCH of the small plates. I went there on a busy Saturday night, guaranteed that I was only one person, but not only did I get wonderful service from all of the wait staff I also got wonderful service from the owner. I've been to many different high end type restaurants and never received such welcoming and nice service from even the owner themselves. Not to mention, they were low on staff and they still did everything to keep myself and the others happy on such a busy night.
