She worked very closely with us in selecting a flattering color palette and introducing textures that would suit the baby. Her style is very gentle and easygoing; she spends the time to really get to know a family and pays attention to all the details that go into a shoot. When the photos came out, we were truly blown away--they were all so tender and stunning, showcasing not just the miracle of birth, but all the familial love and tenderness. I cannot stop looking at them! We were so delighted that we opted for an album keepsake. I was impressed with how much care and time Heather took making every page perfect, and how she collaborated so well with us. My son is an amateur artist, and she welcomed and integrated all his inputs and built on top of them to create something we will treasure for many years. I wholeheartedly recommend Heather to any family--she is a true artist, and we will definitely be returning to capture more precious moments!

I actually found Jennifer after searching online for photographers in San Francisco and her work immediately stood out. Her style felt fresh and unconventional -- more documentary and journalistic than traditional -- and I especially loved her use of black and white photography, which was a big reason we chose her. The day started at our hotel, where she jumped between our separate rooms to capture my wife and me getting ready. Before she had even gotten to our rooms, she had already scouted the perfect location for our first look. The moment was absolutely incredible, and she handled everything; we didn't have to do a thing but follow her lead. That professional confidence continued at City Hall. She has a masterful familiarity with the building. She took full control of the shoot, guiding us as she told us exactly where to stand, how to pose, and where to move next so we could just relax and enjoy the moment. As a photographer myself, I really appreciated her confidence and professionalism. All we had to do was follow instructions and be present. She knows San Francisco City Hall inside and out -- the lighting, the angles, the timing, and the key locations that truly matter -- every shot felt deliberate and it showed. The technical skill here is top-notch-- the compositions were beautiful, the balance of each frame was spot-on, and her gorgeous color grading. We received around 300 images, and the quality is so consistent that I plan to print every last one of them in large format to ensure we have a permanent physical archive. When we received the final package, we were so touched -- she sent our photos on a beautiful USB drive along with printed images, some sweets, and other thoughtful details. It was the perfect finishing touch to a genuinely wonderful experience. If you're getting married at City Hall -- or anywhere in San Francisco -- Jennifer Michelson / A Girl and a Camera is exceptional. Thank you Jennifer! Laura and Junior.

From the beginning, Alison was professional, flexible, and easy to communicate with. We originally arranged for an engagement shoot with 2 locations, but due to weather issues, we had to reorganize. Alison offered to do a second engagement shoot at the second location and accommodated our schedule as we were planning our Bay Area wedding from out of town. We were so appreciative of her flexibility and her ability to make us feel comfortable during the planning process and in front of the camera. We chose Alison because we wanted a photojournalistic eye to capture the feelings we shared with our guests and she absolutely delivered. Her photos show both her expert eye and her ability to adjust to various lighting conditions while preserving a true-to-color look, a skill that I value highly since our venue had both outdoor and dimly lit indoor components. Working with someone who has years of experience in the SF/Bay Area as a wedding photographer made the wedding planning process much less stressful. She provided great insight in adjusting our timeline as well as selecting locations for our day of photos. On the day of, she provided a calming and professional aura that helped us both stay as relaxed as possible. She even drove me to our first look location to help simplify the logistics of the day. In the end, we received our photos about 3 weeks after our wedding date and absolutely love them. Alison is a gem in the wedding industry and we are so glad that we worked with her for our wedding.

Somehow Leigh Ann managed to not only make two generally camera shy adults appear and feel comfortable but she also convinced an 11 month old baby to look and smile at the camera, likely due to the fact that Leigh Ann is just a delight -- warm, hilarious and professional. I would not hesitate to work with Leigh Ann again.

I tell everyone about working with Leigh Ann by first telling them about her intake form. It's an…read moreincredibly detailed form that asks about what you're worried about, what your children's personalities are like, and the question that hit home most for me: what about this point in time do you want to capture? It got me thinking about the special relationship I'm developing with my twins, particularly since this was our first photoshoot just the three of us post-divorce. The fact that Leigh Ann asks such thoughtful questions made me know she gets it. These are more than just family photos. They're telling a story, capturing memories and feelings from this time in our lives. Not only did Leigh Ann capture that relationship -- in all its silliness, love, and intimacy -- in incredibly breath-taking photos, she made the entire experience so worth all the stress, time, and money. Family photoshoots are stressful and exhausting. As a single mom, I can handle the kids on my own no problem, but photoshoots are a certain type of kryptonite. I think because I actually have to pay attention to myself too and try to look presentable? For some reason I felt really nervous about the photoshoot, like I wouldn't be able to handle it, that the kids wouldn't smile or cooperate, or they'd want me to carry them both while I was lugging bags full of props and outfit changes at the beach. By the time we met up with Leigh Ann, both kids had fallen asleep in the car and I fretted that we were able to have two of the crankiest toddlers on the windiest day of the year. It was going to be a nightmare. Nope -- Leigh Ann was so great with my kids, she immediately won them over, and won me over because she had a wagon that we could put all our stuff in (and promised the kids they could ride in the wagon on the way back)! Honestly I was so exhausted by the time we got to the actual photoshoot, I don't remember much of it. It felt like I was on autopilot. But the entire time, I knew I could trust Leigh Ann. I knew she'd capture amazing photos, so I let go of all the pressure and expectations, and just watched her interact with my girls. She knew what to say to get them to smile, to run up to me with glee, and she was SO SO SO patient. She also has an amazing eye and got really creative, beautiful photos of us with the sunset. I could go on and on, but it all boils down to Leigh Ann being SO amazing. When I got the photos back, I knew I had to buy them all. There was no way to narrow it down to just 30. I'm so glad I got the chance to work with her, and I can't wait to work with her again next year.
