Planning a proposal from across the country and trying to find a local Bay Area photographer was incredibly stressful, but connecting with Steven here made all the difference. He was responsive, thoughtful, and full of creative ideas, even going so far as to help scout the proposal location himself. On the day of the proposal, Steven was warm, kind , and calming, which helped both our families feel at ease and led to some great candid shots. Despite less than ideal weather, he stayed optimistic and found angles/shots that worked beautifully - even in the strong SF winds. We absolutely loved how the photos turned out! Look no further, I highly recommend Steven for any of your photography needs. read more

For anyone who doesn't have time to read a lengthy review: Hire Steven for ALL your photography needs. Your only regret will be not having hired him for any photoshoot you've ever had. For those of you with a bit of time, here is my story or rather my experience of working with Steven. I recently moved to the Bay Area from the East Coast. To put it simply, I knew nothing and no one in the area. I had it set in my mind that I was going to propose at the end of October but that was about the extent of what I had planned. I had reached out to well over 20 photographers in the Bay Area for about two months inquiring about pricing, portfolio and advice. There were some great options but when I spoke with Steven, it was different. I told him my terrible plan for how to surprise my now fiancé and his response was an essay of comments, feedback and things to consider. It was then that I knew Steven was the photographer I needed. He was the only one who gave me realistic expectations, gave me considerations for my original plan and provided detailed options for how we could adjust it and what different outcomes we could have. Once we decided to move forward, he continued providing detailed tips along the way. If not for Steven, my plan would've 100% been foiled, surprise ruined and ring probably lost. Instead, we got incredible pictures that will last a lifetime. His editing is natural, genuine and pure. In person he was incredibly kind, helped us with posing as we are a bit awkward at times and very helpful. Not to mention that he is very honest in how he conducts business and has great communication. I was freaking out as I took this big step in my life but his attention to detail truly made everything as easy as possible. Highly recommending him is an understatement. read more

Steven was a fantastic photographer to work with for my proposal in San Francisco. We chatted multiple times to discuss the vision, potential issues with lighting/angles, weather concerns, and more. Steven's insight was crucial in deciding on the final location and framing. The weather forecast was constantly changing in advance of the day, and Steven helped brainstorm several possible contingencies. On the day of, Steven got there early, was incredibly communicative in letting me know where he would be set up, and even suggested I delay getting to the proposal spot for 30 minutes until the sun could set a little more. After the proposal, he stuck around for us to take plenty of candids and posed shots. The photographs turned out incredibly, and I could not be more happy! read more

Steven was incredibly easy to work with, and gave us a bountiful album of beautiful photos from our wedding. The entire process was low-friction, flexible, and fun! I saw a review when I was looking for photographers that said "Stop looking, just work with Steven." I could not agree more with this sentiment - he was absolutely phenomenal to work with and I can't wait to work with him again. I contacted a number of photographers for my proposal and Steven was by far the most responsive and most thoughtful in helping plan out the moment. He was incredibly generous with his time to chat with me over the phone about the plans, specific locations, backup plans if the weather didn't cooperate, etc. He even went early to the spot and piloted some different options for the moment with my family and was able to communicate a better option to me as I was hiking up with my girlfriend. The pictures turned out better than I could have ever imagined, and he had a preview over to us within 2 hours of the shot. Steven also came to the engagement party that evening to shoot and every one of our guests remarked to me how much they enjoyed working with Steven. If I could give 10 stars out of 5, I would. Work with Steven for anything you can - you will be blown away with the results! read more

He was quick and professional. I got a headshot for work as well as some LinkedIn photos. Would highly recommend.

Steven is our go-to Bay Area photographer! For our infant photoshoot, he prepared us with great photoshoot ideas and venue options. We ultimately chose to go to Sue Berman Park and he did a great job finding some amazing shots. I didn't realize how difficult photoshoots would be with a crying baby, but Steven made it 100x easier with his positive energy and speed in capturing the perfect moment. He even helped with a few extra touch ups. Thank you so much, Steven! read more

Steven was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. He spent all the time I needed to work out the details over the phone and email prior to the day of the shoot. Steven reached the spot before time in order to ensure my surprise worked out exactly how I wanted. Steven was very patient during the entire shoot and delivered so much better than he promised. We had so much fun working with him and I highly recommend you to hire Steven for any shoot you are planning. Cheers! read more

I am so overdue for writing this review! I've hired Steven to be my photographer three times, and he was delightful all three times. The first time was as a photographer for my surprise proposal to my wife. The second was for our guest-free wedding ceremony during covid, and the third was for the full wedding celebration with guests. The first time was definitely the best story. I wanted to propose at the end of the Tomales Point Trail, an out and back hike that's 5 miles each way. I was initially drawn to Steven because his website told stories of "Ninja Proposals" where he was there to capture the moment without tipping off the significant other. It was clear that he was not only a skilled photographer, but someone who was down for an adventure and who knew how to make taking photographs fun. I don't think most photographers would be down for a 10 mile hike as part of the job, but when I called him about my idea, he was! I planned the shot with him the weekend before, and secretly communicated with him as we started on the hike. He even ran across us close to the end and introduced himself to my soon-to-be-fiancee as a nature photographer who was there to take photos of the birds! When the moment came, she was shocked, and he was in the ideal position and captured just absolutely perfect shots of the moment. Afterwards, I pointed him out to my fiancee and she was so shocked. We did a series of staged photos, and true to form, he made it all so easy and fun. We loved the photos that resulted, and so did our friends and family. We loved the photos so much that we immediately decided to hire him for our subsequent weddings. He did just as great a job at our weddings - putting people at ease, making jokes, while also advising us on how to get the best shots bearing lighting, scenery, and positioning in mind. We'd heard that some wedding photographers can be very pushy, but Steven was just so easy to work with, adaptable, and spontaneous. I would also add that's a great value - I think his photos are top notch, and he charges less than many proposal or wedding photographers. I highly recommend him, and plan to contact him again any time I have photography needs! read more

To say that Steven went above and beyond is an understatement. We cannot recommend Steven enough. I absolutely echo what others have said here, including the comment "stop looking, just work with Steven." Steven, thank you for going above and beyond your professionalism. read more

If you're in need of a proposal photographer, look no further! Steven did an amazing job in helping me prepare for the big moment, the photography session was really fun, and we loved the photographs. After talking to Steven on the phone, I knew right away that he was the photographer I wanted to go with - I was rather stressed about planning everything but he put my fears to ease, was very easy to talk to, and struck a perfect balance of figuring out exactly what I wanted while at the same time offering his great wisdom and advice to steer me in the right direction on key details. Over several phone calls and emails exchanged, he helped me weigh different options (e.g. is golden hour really important? should he secretly photograph the big moment or "bump into each other" ahead of time), plan the little details (e.g. the exact location where it should happen, how the shot should be framed, etc), and come up with contingency plans (e.g. what if it rains? what if the area is too crowded?). The results speak for themselves - the proposal went great (she was totally surprised) and he captured the moment beautifully. Afterwards we spent additional time doing more posed "engagement" shots, which Steven expertly guided us through, and the resulting photographs looked natural, the framing and lighting were beautiful, and we couldn't wait to share them with our friends and family. read more

I cannot recommend Steven enough! He goes above and beyond in every step -- from planning through execution and delivery. Amazing photographer (with great direction, eye for angles, etc.) as well as a great guy to work with. Pictures turned out perfectly. Thanks so much! read more

Steven Gregory Photography - One of many awesome shots Steve took of me in the water. - Event Photography Near Me

Long story short: Steven is a consummate professional with phenomenal skill. If you want a shot to impress anyone, (employers in my case), Steven is the immediate solution. We spent roughly 2 hours finding the perfect scenery/background for photos and having multiple shoots. Steven clearly has a passion that matches his unparalleled skill. Our locations were bright, complimentary, and quiet (perfect considering we're in SF!). More important than anything - the finished photos are nothing shy of perfect. I experienced a three fold interest in my linkedin profile! I could not recommend Steven more - he gave me phenomenal results, exemplary customer service, and has a remarkable amount of patience. read more

I engaged Steven Gregory for photo and design of an invitation to a one-year anniversary shoe exhibition and preview photos to use for press release and social media/online invitations. During the past year I have done most of the photo shoots myself for the shoe line LLXLLQ - and as I worked with Steven, and saw him systematically and patiently approach the project in order to find the best angle and the best light of the featured shoe, I realized what difference it makes with the professional equipment and skills, as well as time to go through that process. For the preview photos we had a very short 60 minute window with access to the location, and that worked out well as well. This was a rather quick turn-around project - although working with Steven, it didn't feel rushed. He is very professional and pleasant to work with. He listens for input and ideas, as well as add his own creative perspectives/solutions. All the files and photos were delivered in the format required for the printing service we had chosen, and Steven even helped in the process to submit it, to ensure good quality output. I can warmly recommend his services, and I look forward to work with him again. read more

Steven is an awesome photographer and really came through for me when I needed someone to capture my engagement photos. What set Steven apart is he can not only take awesome photos he was very easy to work with. There were several things causing me stress in regards to taking my engagement photos. I wanted to have them taken at a beach that had a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. In the bay, weather can change quickly and you always have to factor in the potential of fog. Steven was very helpful on guiding me through the weather and advising me to move up my surprise proposal before the fog rolled in. read more
