The restaurant in the hotel looked very boring so we decided to check out Porterhouse. When we arrived there it was FULL with locals. As we had a toddler , so they seated us in a private dining area outside the bar to comply with the regulation that kids aren't allowed in bars after 9 pm. Our server was very friendly. The staff was really good! He took our orders, got us to try a few beers and whiskeys before we finalized our orders to ensure that we really enjoy what we order. At this point we were just blown away by the hospitality despite being extremely crowded. We ordered two pints of beer, a shot of whiskey, fish and chips and a vegetarian curry dish. Everything tasted fantastic. The place itself was huge and the ambiance was of the traditional Irish pub. Brick walls, good music, fantastic pours, great food and warm smiles all around.

I visited along with my friend for lunch, and we ordered the Cajun chicken Panini, gourmet chicken panini and a bowl of soup with a side of bread/butter. Each of the paninis were cooked to perfection -- you could literally taste the flavor of everything in each one. The Cajun was the perfect blend of chicken and cheese. The gourmet was an incredible mix of sweet and salty. Seriously could not recommend these more...so so impressed. We were so hungry, that I never got a chance to take a photo of the food - ha! I also ordered the soup of the day which came with their homemade bread -- truly incredible. I'm still raving about this and am so glad it was recommended. A MUST stop in Galway! While we could only do outdoor seating at the time due to the COVID-19 lockdown measures, this turned out to be quite the good fortune. Where we sat was a nice spot to see the various people walking down the street, engage in conversation, all the while enjoying a cafe Americano and some tasty baked goods like brownies and shortbread with chocolate on top. If you know where to walk from the Eyre Square, it's a great find, moderately priced, and very tasty eats. Hopefully, the next time I can have some of the hot dishes they also offer when we return to Galway.

There's also a roast menu, side orders, burger and sandwich menu. The coffee here is made to perfection! I loved the flat white here, which is served in a glass instead of a cup.
