No impressed. Had high hopes for this place because it was suppose to be the premier place to go to…read morein New Orleans for dresses but it was dead upon arrival. This place is unorganized and it looks like a place where dresses go to die. All the dresses were crammed on rolling racks which made it look cheap and impossible to browse. Don't let their Instagram fool you. Some of the dresses advertised on there are not even in-store! Of all the wedding places I've been to all over Metairie and NOLA, this place was the most disappointing. They didn't even offer refreshments and the appointment felt rushed. If you go, be prepared to pay for street parking!! Bride tip, why bother buying dresses from this place when all the other bridal stores in the area carry the same dress/designers for less the price and will give you a better experience. Don't waste your time on this place. Also, they charge you $100 before your appointment just to book where most places only charges you if you don't show. AVOID THIS PLACE. Not worth your time and energy. #dusty

Why would I rather go all the way to Family Alterations in Kenner to get alterations done as…read moreopposed to somewhere like Lil' Daves on Oak (for reference, I live Uptown)? Because they're cheaper and faster for the same quality. I also happen to have to be in that area for work too which makes going there easier, but that's another story... THE GOOD Pricing: Two separate suits hemmed (jacket sleeves and pants, four pieces total) at Family Alterations: $45.00. ONE suit jacket hemmed alone at Lil' Daves: $25.00?!? ONE dress pant hemmed alone at Lil' Daves, brough on a separate occasion: $18.00?!? That is a ridiculous difference in price. I've also brought pants to Family Alterations that had to get new seams on some torn stitching: $2.50. A new button for a dress shirt: $1.00. Can't beat it. Speed: You don't need to pay extra for expedited work, because it's already done quickly for you. Again with the suit example: Four pieces at Family Alterations took three days. One piece at Lil' Daves took over a week. Both times. Quality: Family Alterations does acceptable, quality work on par with Lil' Daves. Seams are straight, hidden fairly well on most items, and I've never had to bring anything back to get redone. So again, why should I pay so much more and wait so much longer for the same level of work? THE BAD Method of Payment: Unfortunately, they only take cash. Not really that bad for most people, but I almost never carry any money on me and I forget to bring some every time, so I inevitably have to drive across the street to make a withdrawal. OVERALL Good quality, fair pricing, quick service...aren't all those characteristics of a place you'd like to do business with? If you live in the Metairie/Kenner area, I would most definitely recommend Family Alterations for your alteration needs. If you live Uptown...I would still recommend it, especially if you need your items in a more timely manner and don't mind coming to Kenna, brah.

I'm terrible with names but the owner is a really sweet Vietnamese lady who takes her time in measuring me for alterations. I have trusted evening gowns, Calvin Klein suits etc. with her and she never let me down. She has a three way mirror and a little platform she asks you to stand on so she can measure you. I recommend bringing the shoes that you plan on wearing with the outfit too to get an accurate fitting. Once your item is ready the you can try it on. She does a great job and is always so pleasant! Even though I live in mid-city i still drive over to the Westbank for her to alter my stuff. Her prices are reasonable too. There is plenty of Parking and she is located in the strip mall with the big clock off general de gualle with the big Krav Maga banner. She's on the first floor. Happy alterations! Oh she so does dry cleaning too!
