Great until the finish line. Bliss bridal was great to work with in terms of choosing and getting my dress! They weren't pushy and when my dress was delayed, they called the dressmaker continuously until my dress arrived.
The trouble came at the very end (and is still ongoing for me). For the alterations, the bridal shop recommended a seamstresses they work with. For a flat fee, I would get alterations at the bridal shop until my dress was ready. The alterations were pricey but, given my dress was a very large investment, I trusted they were working with quality professionals. I got duped. Actually, I think bliss bridal is being con'd as well.
Many things are actually quite wrong with the alterations. However I didn't notice these things until I took the dress home. But I did notice at the shop that the bustle looked strange. When I pushed back, I was told that it was fine and all the dress needed was to be steamed. (Btw, my dress CANNOT be steamed and I was shocked professionals who should know dress material recommended it-i could have destroyed the fabric of my dress). ATTENTION: I was then forced to sign a letter "releasing" my dress. DO NOT SIGN THIS FORM. Even though I pushed back..they were aggressive and told me it was fine. Now, I could be a complete witch in the store and push back on them...but who does that? I was later told by friends and family that seamstresses should have steamed or ironed or press the dress before they even gave it back to me. When I took the dress home and inspected it I noticed several things. First off, they used very large, noticeable and tacky one cent buttons for the bustle. They didn't even bother to get buttons to match the dress. They used large (again, mismatched) thread to use to hook onto the buttons. And they threaded it THROUGH my dress, not along the seam like it's supposed to be. The buttons are misaligned to add insult to injury.
There was also a tear in the seam of my dress I asked them to fix earlier. The woman said she forgot and that she would fix it. So as I took of the dress, she went into the dressing room and, without turning the dress inside out or using a sewing machine, she sewed up the tear FROM THE OUTSIDE while the dress was hanging on the hanger with a single thread. Obviously that's extremely unprofessional and not going to keep the tear closed. And you can see the thread.
Now let's talk about bra cups. They sewed in ovals instead of tear drops, hanging it not only precariously on the previous cups, but also in such a way that you could see them from the sides of my dress. They also consequently pulled the dress the wrong way.
Finally, the alterations in the front are of disgustingly poor quality- it looks shredded and bunched. See pictures below. The extra material sticks out and down.
I will not be going back to have them fix it because...this is clearly the quality of their work. I called Bliss bridal to let them know what happened. They were, at first, proactive and asked if there was something they could do. I told them I'd like a refund for my alterations, as I now have to take my dress somewhere else. They asked if I could come in and show the seamstress my concerns and have them fix it. I
...seriously? They wanted me to trust the seamstress with "fixing" such poor quality that was clearly their best work very close to my wedding. I told them I'd bring in the dress to show them their errors but I would not let them touch it. I didn't hear back from them. We played telephone tag, with me calling more often than them. Since they had not gotten back to me, being mere weeks from my wedding, I took my dress to a renowned seamstress who had to undo their poor quality alterations.
I told bliss bridal what the alterations cost me. They emailed me saying because I didn't bring in the dress to them, and because I signed a release they would not be refunding me or paying for the fixes.
I can't tell you how horrible it is to see such botched work done to the one dress you invest in, dream about and, if anyone else is a
having a large wedding, be the one thing you can look forward to being JUST YOURS.
Please use a different seamstress. I paid over $1000 dollars for alterations in total.
And bliss bridal? I hope karma takes over. read more
