Took my wedding dress there to get alterations. They did not listen to what I wanted done but they added in all these things I didn't want and messed it up. They had to then fix it but also charged us more money for having to fix their mistakes. In the end, my dress did not fit right and I had no time left. I was very disappointed and all could have been avoided if they just listened to what I wanted/ needed done. I should have gotten a clue about them when I was at my first fitting and another bride was there trying on her dress and was literally balling crying because they messed up her dress so badly. read more

I had such an amazing experience here and I recommend them to all of my friends who are brides. They divided up my appointments into three sessions (top, bottom, overall check) and each time I could pay a portion or all of it. This made it easier on the wallet! I was so impressed by how detail oriented they were and would even consult each other about their work. I ended up having to go back closer to the wedding because I ended up losing weight. They were so kind to me, understanding (even though they had to redo work) and most of all I felt like they had my best interest at heart! The owner is the sweetest woman and you could just tell she had a passion about her job. The Alteration Shoppe is the only place I will ever have my family's clothes altered or steamed ever again! This business has 5 stars, and for good reason! The workers are kind and professional. They know their stuff so they are able make recommendations to get the exact fit you're looking for. Their prices are affordable especially for the quality of their work. They were able to give me a ballpark price for alterations over the phone, which was extremely helpful. They work quickly- but please keep in mind that dresses with multiple layers or delicate fabrics may take some additional time. They are conveniently located in a strip mall on Severn across from Lakeside and have a shared parking lot, making it easy to get in and out quickly. They do take walk-ins but I recommend making an appointment, especially if its wedding or prom "season". We've had wedding dresses, formal dresses, men's suits and boys clothes altered and steamed here, and we have always been beyond impressed with their work. I can't recommend visiting them highly enough if you're in need of alterations, garment steaming or pressing. There's no doubt they'll make sure you look sharp for your next event! read more

I had the most amazing experience at The Alteration Shoppe. The team is friendly, dedicated, and talented. The owner met me at arrival to my first fitting and could not have been more warm and welcoming. My seamstress Estrella was FANTASTIC. I am one of those brides who took forever to pick her dress, and I didn't love it going into my alterations. I bought my dress out of state, and was really worried about taking it to a "random" alteration studio. Now, it feels like it was made for me. Estrella was tireless in her attention to detail and getting the bust just right. These gals are fantastic and made me feel so special from my first visit to my last! I also felt the pricing was commensurate with the service. I won't have the chance to wear my dress for a while due to the coronavirus pandemic, so if any additional alterations are needed in a year or two, I know just where I'm heading. I am finally breaking my silence about what happened to my wedding dress at the Alterations Shoppe. Please read before you bring your beloved wedding dress to the Alterations Shoppe in Metairie. STORYTIME During my second fitting, we noticed a large faint stain on the front of my crepe, brand new, wedding dress (it looked like a large watermark). When we confronted them about what happened and if something happened to it in between the first fitting and now, they denied any involvement and blamed it on me AND THEN called the cops on my mother and I. Not exactly sure why the cops were called but I assume its because they did not want to own up to their mistake so they were going to have us removed and rid us of their mistake! And NO, my mom and I were not being hostile, we just were questioning them on what happened. It's funny how they wouldn't show us or give us the pictures they took of my dress when I brought it in for the first fitting. They had their own picture evidence that the dress was brought in unstained. As a cherry on top, as my mom and I were asked to leave, we brought the dress to our car and we put it in the trunk to look at the stain in the daylight. To our surprise, there was blood stains on the bottom of my dress. I assume the lady poked herself when putting the hem in. The additional stains were found before we left the parking lot. This is the worst alteration shoppe we ever experienced. Do not ever take a wedding dress there they will ruin it. Maeme Bridal recommends this place but I wouldn't go there. Do so research and ask around but they have ruined numerous wedding dresses including my daughter's. This place has no clue on how to properly alter anything. If I could give this negative stars it would be -1000x. Just got out of court with this sad excuse of an establishment. Had 4 alteration appointments and each appointment they ruined my dress a little more. Each time there would be a different seamstress who had no idea of what was going on from the previous appointment because they have no way of communication and taking notes. This experience was truly a nightmare. Not only did they fail to preform any of the alterations correctly or appropriately they refused to give me my dress back unless I agreed to pay the rest of my EIGHT-HUNDRED AND SEVENTY DOLLARS worth of alterations. NOT TO MENTION THEY SUCKED at everything they attempted to fix. So I was forced to buy a new dress + alterations THREE WEEKS before my wedding. Also in court the owner refused to apologize to anything that was done. Did not give a shit whether he had an unhappy customer or not. This place is such a JOKE. I would give NO STARS if I could! DO NOT do business with this place. What started out as a seemingly good experience, turned into a nightmare! They are unprofessional, dishonest, do bad work and refuse to be accountable! After numerous fittings and opportunities to get this right they continued to do bad work. I had to hire a second person to fix it and it ended up costing me double what they already charged me. This was by far the most horrendous experience. My niece purchased her dress and brought it to The Alteration Shoppe for alterations. During four different appointments, the lack of communication was not there, it was a different seamstress every time (notes obviously were not taken), the dress got worse each time she went, alterations were $800+ dollars and all of a sudden it was three weeks before her wedding and at what was supposed to be her final fitting, it once again still needed more alterations. The fact that the dress looked totally different now & totally changed the look of the dress brought us to court with the company. They take no accountability, customer service was horrible, emotional stress was caused, no apologies were given. in fact, they actually wanted her to pay her $200 balance that she refused to do so and keep the dress for themselves, like what?! They could care less if they have an unhappy customer. The owner seems to be all about the money, and not worried about these brides or the stress they're already going through. My experience at The Alteration Shoppe was start to finish wonderful, easy, and exactly what I had hoped for. A week and a half before my wedding, I brought in my dress just to be hemmed a bit. Because it was so late, they warned me about late fees, which is totally understandable. Everyone in the store was really helpful, and the seamstress was really kind and explained everything to me and asked my opinion on everything. When checking out they said that what needed to be done was minimal so they waived the late fee and still had it back to me in a week, looking absolutely pristine. I have already booked more appointments with them for bridesmaid dresses and for my larger wedding dress for my big non-COVID wedding next year. This is my go-to place for alterations. I was referred to them by my coworker and used them for my wedding dress alterations. My dress was all lace so I was pretty nervous l, but they got me in quickly and turned the dress around in 1 month. The dress fit perfectly and I didn't have any worries. The cost was unbeatable too. Especially compared to taking it to a bridal salon. Since my wedding dress alterations I have been back to add straps to a strapless dress. They charged me $10 and finished the straps within a half hour. They even made the straps removable so I could chose to wear with or without. read more

I needed alterations on a bridesmaid dress I ordered that was too big for me. It was a halter dress so it was more work than normal spaghetti strap dresses. A seamstress at another shop told me she couldn't perform the work on it, but The Alterations Shoppe team took care of it and made me feel at ease that my dress was in their hands. I purchased the dress online and when it arrived I searched for seamstresses in the area (I found this shop on Instagram) and called to make an appointment. They fit me a few days later, and I showed up with the dress and shoes and undergarments I was wearing in my friend's wedding. I showed up a few minutes before my appointment and they had me fill out paperwork (FYI you have to sign a lot of paperwork before they take you for your appointment). The seamstress pinned my dress and had me walk around to make sure it felt right. She gave me an estimate and timeline, I paid my deposit and booked a follow up appointment and was on my way. When I picked it up, I tried it on and it was perfect. I paid the remainder of the balance and was all set for the wedding. I've gone back several more times with other articles of clothing (jeans, sun dresses, etc) that needed alterations and every time they make the clothes fit perfectly. I had a bad experience at first. But the owner came in when the store was closed to accommodate me. I was definitely a bridezilla and they were STILL so kind to me. They fixed every single problem i asked them to. They have patience beyond my understanding. I didn't like my first seamstress. She complained about me in Spanish but I'm fluent and did not make this known. However the seamstress who helped me today was THE BEST and as long as you speak up they help you and bend over backwards.
