Given the size of this Stewart's (smaller than average) and the number of gas pumps (fewer), this is evidently an older Stewart's. Its strong point is its location. It's at a busy intersection. It's also in front of a large grocery store (i.e., Hannaford), and if all you want is some of the more basic groceries, plus Stewart's products, you'll generally be satisfied here, unless you're looking for items more common to their newer, larger shops. Schenectady County typically has lower gas prices; this is not reflected here. As I recall, there are few if any other gas stations in the immediate vicinity, and Stewart's has a reputation for charging whatever they can get for gasoline when there's no other stations around. Even if you drive just a couple miles further north on Balltown Road, the next Stewart's, at the intersection of Nott St., is typically at least 6 cents a gallon cheaper. As I've said for other Stewart's shops - if the gas is pricier, get your gas someplace else, and spend the money you saved on groceries or ice cream here. read more

Life is funny. When I first moved to the Capital Region, I did not understand the love for Stewarts. Not one little bit. In fact, I think I may have considered the cult-like following this regional chain of convenience stores a symptom of a larger problem affecting the citizens of Upstate New York. I don't drink the coffee. Even the steamed hot dogs aren't my thing. And that egg sandwich is one of the worst things I've put in my mouth. One of the reasons I love Stewart's is for the milkshakes. As a parent, I've come to learn that there is almost no problem that can befall a child, that cannot be helped by a Stewart's shake. Generally we get an extra thick chocolate shake, make with chocolate milk, and without syrup. Sometimes we'll get it with malt powder. But lately, my daughter has been experimenting with other ice creams. The extra thick peanut butter pandemonium, made with chocolate milk, is also a winner. This Stewart's will forever be remembered as the one in which my daughter had her very first extra thick cookies and cream milkshake. When I was a teenager, one of my friends would order these all the time. And I still remember how mind-bendingly good that first sip was. It's not the most common milkshake flavor, but the fellow behind the counter at this Stewarts was well aware of its excellence. He spun up a great one, and now my daughter's eyes are opened. Obviously, this was a very personal experience, and your milage may vary. But I do love walking into a Stewarts and encountering an extra enthusiastic employee behind the ice cream counter. It makes a great experience even better. Plus, this Stewarts also has gas, those great Stewarts eggs, and a few of the other Stewarts staples I've come to love over the years. read more

******Horrible Corporate "Customer Service"**** The Manager at this store was helpful first of all, but the associate who charged my card really messed up along with the Stewarts corporation. I made a purchase of large supply of ice cream (over $120+ worth) for whatever reason when I paid via credit card, I found out a few days later the CREDITED my account the amount I owed. A few days later they DOUBLE charged me $133 twice to fix their initial screw up. Went to the store 3 times to remedy the situation and the manger helped by contacting corporate on their phone. Unfortunately the corporate and customer representative their was beyond clueless and attempted to communicate why and how the mess up happened. I didn't care why or why the mess up happened, I told her I just wanted it fixed and asked what she can do. Instead of crediting my account the difference if $13, She proceeded to mail me the invoice which was supposedly going to show me what happened,which stated absolutely nothing regarding this transaction along with 2 free small ice cream Sundays. (She had to ask for approval from her manager to send me these 2 discount Sunday tickets and even managed to spell my name wrong as "Brian" instead of "Bryan" which I not only told her, but it was literally on the Credit car invoice she was mailing me... What a joke. This "remedy gesture" was beyond insulting to my intelligence and more importantly my time as I had to go to the store multiple times and call my bank and the corporation to get this mess fixed. I returned the two free Sundays along with the receipt and a typed up letter to the corporate office in Saratoga Springs about this incident. I have received no such communication or apology from the company and have gone to my bank directly. SHAME ON YOU! read more

We like this little Stewart's on the corner of Consaul and Balltown, adjacent to Hannaford's, mostly because it's convenient to other errands and the two little tables are tucked over on the side of the store where you can stare out at the traffic at the intersection. That plus the cheapo plastic kids toys are next to the table. It's the small-footprint Stew's, pretty cramped for gas, and the parking spots are at very crazy diagonal angles, and you can't get to it except right off the street (no cut-throughs to the bank or Hannaford's) but so it goes. read more

I've been to this Stewart's throughout the years and is located in a convenient place. What puts it over the top is Dave. He has been working there for at least 15 years (maybe over 20?) and has a consistently positive attitude towards every customer. He's a real asset to the franchise. I worked at another Stewart's many years ago and I always knew of him and his superior service. Impressive given all the people he has to deal with every day. read more

This store Is not user friendly for someone who is handicapped and cannot sit on the high stools. They need to put a table in that store. The staff is extremely slow. The hot dogs are never ready, you have to ask them to put hot dogs on, and then you wait. They don't have the fixings ready for them either. That stuff should be ready when the doors are open.
