The crew behind this deli counter is at is again, this time delivering with a fantastic Italian mix…read moresub. In the mood for a lunchtime Saturday sandwich, I decided the Co-Op would fit the bill. I had a hankering for an Italian mixed sub, gave some specific instructions, and they delivered. I can be a little picky when it comes to my sandwiches; I like my deli meat thinly sliced, sandwiches just taste better that way to these taste buds?! So this time, I wanted thinly sliced ham, pepperoni, and salami, with red onion, shredded lettuce, and that good good red wine viniagtette, on a sub roll. All the ratios addeded up in my book; the thinly sliced meat complimenting the healthy squeeze of the red wine vinaigrette dressing, all while not making the bread soggy -- that's key. Nothing worse than soggy bread, IMHO. So in closing, I will be back for this sandwich and I hope it's this perfect every time!!

We finally made it to this local grocery store and were pleasantly surprised. The emphasis is…read moredefinitely on 'local,' and we ended up with a surprise find, a candi onion which is apparently locally produced and neither of us had even heard of. There's plenty we found appealing about the experience, from the clean and spacious aisles and clear labels to the full range of goods we weren't sure we would find, including bakery, deli, produce, and pet foods. Staff at checkout was energetically friendly and I left thinking that I wouldn't mind going back at all. There's limited parking directly in front of the shop but more across the road. Apparently the co-op was established some 80 years ago and has gone through several transformations. I have a soft spot for local businesses and independent grocers, so here's hoping they stay open for many more years.

I recently had a disturbing and infuriating experience at this Cumberland Farms location. I went in…read moreto purchase two Gatorlite drinks, advertised as 2 for $5, but they rang up as $5.50. With tax, the total came to $5.94. When I pointed out that the sales tax should be $0.40, not $0.94, I was met with disbelief and outright hostility. The employees insisted that the $0.94 was the correct tax, despite it clearly being an error in their system. Instead of addressing the issue, the two employees--both of whom were of a different race than I am--ganged up on me. Their behavior quickly escalated from rude to what felt like a racially motivated attack. They repeatedly insisted "it's the tax," in a mocking tone, refusing to listen to any explanation. I was laughed at, ridiculed, and made to feel as though my concerns were invalid simply because of who I am. It felt like I was being singled out and demeaned based on my race. Eventually, they asked if I even wanted the drinks, making it clear they had no interest in resolving the situation or treating me with basic respect. What's even more concerning is that they claimed every customer is told "that's the tax" and no one ever complains. If that's true, then Cumberland Farms is potentially collecting illegal sales tax on thousands of transactions per day. Now that this review is public, if Cumberland Farms doesn't address this issue with these employees, they could be guilty of negligence and should be fined. I hope New York State gets their $0.94 tax on this transaction, which I doubt will happen under these circumstances. For reference, my receipt number is 221-2080, in case Cumberland Farms wants to do their due diligence and investigate. This was, without a doubt, the worst customer service experience I've ever had, and the fact that it appeared to be racially motivated makes it all the more unacceptable. Unbelievable that this is what customer service has come to today. I would recommend screening and better training of employee's zero stars if I could. This was definitely not about the 50 cents per transactions theft , but the principle of the matter .
