7/29/25 We hired Armstrong Construction to build our deck,…read moreand I am leaving this review as a last resort after numerous attempts to have issues corrected have been ignored. Shortly after the build was complete, we discovered several cracked boards, spindles, etc. We called, and about three weeks later, they sent a technician to make repairs. I spoke with him directly and made two things very clear: 1) To please use the exact same higher-end lumber we had paid for, and 2) To perform a thorough inspection of the entire deck to find any other issues, as he is the expert and we wanted this to be a one-time fix. He left without a word. Furthermore, it took me only a few moments to find several additional cracked boards and spindles that his professional inspection had completely overlooked. To make matters worse, the boards he did replace were a cheaper, different type of wood. For over a month now, we have tried to get this resolved. We have made three additional calls, sent an email, and a Facebook message. We received one call back promising a visit that never happened. Our Facebook message was seen and they asked if we had called the office, when I confirmed we had, there was no further communication. Our other calls and messages have not been addressed. My call today went unanswered with no option to leave a voicemail. This lack of follow-through also extends to promises made by the owner, who was supposed to conduct both a pre-build and a post-build inspection to ensure quality. Neither of these inspections ever took place. Disappointingly, this brand new deck feels no more solid or of higher quality than the 25-year-old deck it replaced. We are now left with mismatched lumber, unresolved cracks, and a company that refuses to communicate. I absolutely do not recommend working with this company. A final note: I fully expect this public review will finally get a response. Be aware that this review reflects our entire experience of poor service, shoddy repair work, and being ignored for over a month. For that reason, I will not be changing my 1-star rating or my recommendation, regardless of their response or eventual repairs. This review will stand as is to inform future customers. The only update I will make is to note if and when the repairs are finally completed correctly. ************************************ Update 7/29/25 16:24 (The company responded to my initial review and can be found on Google. The following was my response to them) Thank you for your response and explanation. First and foremost, I am sincerely sorry to hear of the losses your family has endured. I wish you all good health and fortitude during what is clearly a difficult time. While I appreciate that context, it's important to correct several key points in your statement so that my original review is understood accurately. The issue has never been about the natural "checking" of lumber. As I made clear in my initial emails, which included photos and videos, I'm somewhat aware of how wood naturally cures. This was never the complaint. The problems I have tried to get resolved are about poor workmanship: boards that are split and broken where nails were driven through, chunks of wood hanging off, and spindles that are split because they were nailed incorrectly. To your point about issues being "pointed out," when your technician was here for the repair visit, I not only identified these flaws but, as stated in my original review, I specifically instructed him to inspect the entire deck. I deferred to his professional expertise to find all obvious issues, which were not done. And thank you for the recommendations on how to fill the cracks. Regarding the final walkthrough, your account is incorrect. Coby and Eli did not do a walkthrough with my wife and me. My wife was in meetings all day and was not present. A walkthrough was conducted with only one of your team members and me, a fact I can confirm with security camera footage from that day. It was on that day that I went to the bank to get cash to pay the final balance while he waited. To be clear on the timeline: Yes, someone came for the initial repair 2-3 weeks after my first call. However, there has been no visit since then, despite my four additional phone calls to your office. A few weeks ago, I spoke directly with Coby, who said he would send one of his brothers out to look at the deck. Two weeks passed, and no one came or called. My subsequent calls went to a female employee who transferred me to Coby's voicemail twice, but I never received a return call. I understand that your phones were down today, which prevented me from calling to resolve the issue one last time before my review. However, this does not account for the weeks of unreturned calls that preceded this incident. My review stands as a factual account of our experience with the quality of the repair work and the complete lack of communication from your company. **Update in photos, out of space here*

Believe the reviews, folks, at least for the Nashville, TN division. We paid just over $10,000 as a…read moredeposit in early November 2022 to reside our 2 story detached garage with HardiBoard. We weren't concerned with the cost; just that it was done right. The sales rep - John Hinely - said all the right things typical of a sales pitch, but we were already going to move forward as our current home is all brick with Hardi accents. We wanted the old detached garage to flow well and vinyl was never an option. Our house was a tear-down/rebuild but we decided to keep the existing detached garage since lumber costs are still so high. Our job was supposed to be done January 2023 but February came and ZERO communication from Durante. I called customer service around 2/20/23 and got a call from Sean on 2/21/23 stating that my job was delayed because of product availability from the supplier, but they should be able to get to me at the end of March or early April. On April 8, 2023, I attended the Nashville Home Show where Durante had a booth. I asked the sales rep there if he could help me out with some info on our job, and he said he was good friends with the owner's son and would see what he could do, but not to expect anything until the following Monday. This young man made the effort to go ahead and reach out to the team then tracked me down at the show to let me know and I was impressed! Sure enough, Sean called the following week to let me know my job would be starting the next week. FINALLY! Except the next week rolled around and NADA. No siding, no installers, no nothing. Most importantly, no communication. I called Durante again this morning to ask about the job, and requested that someone other than Sean call since he has now lied to us more than once. Someone I later understood to be a 'William' called back a bit later and sung the same story we always hear - oh your siding *just* came in and we were *just* about to schedule your job... You know the routine. BUT 'William' said the octagon gable vents we ordered in NOVEMBER 2022 weren't there and it was gonna be another 2 weeks before they would arrive. That he had gone to great lengths to call other suppliers in the area - ones they don't even deal with - to see if they could move forward but he had no luck. He said this like he was doing us a favor. Mkay. So, since my siding was allegedly there, I asked William to send me a picture of my siding that was there waiting on the vents. He balked and said they they don't have the siding - it comes from the supplier directly to the job site. Ok then, call the supplier and ask them to take a pic of my materials and send it to me. William didn't like that, I guess. He kept blaming the supplier for the delay and when I said I didn't care whose fault it was, that we purchased the siding and install job from Durante - NOT the supplier, he got big mad and said he wasn't gonna be talked over (and I interpreted that to mean 'by a woman' based on my interaction with Sean at the pre-job visit - misogyny is a real thing, ladies) and hung up on me. Guess he forgot to put on his big boy pants this morning. Way to represent, 'William'!!! So now I'm waiting on a call from a 'Scott' to see how this can get resolved since we're locked into a contract. Since I have absolutely **ZERO** faith this Hardie job will be installed correctly by this Nashville outfit, I will hire a home inspector or two to do nothing but stand outside and inspect every single board and piece of shingle that goes up on my garage to ensure all the flashing is installed to absolute spec as set forth by James Hardie. I also don't trust Durante at this point to honor any warranty since the head of the Nashville office is such a snowflake he can't take honest criticism from a woman, so it's gonna be installed absolutely, 100%. BUYER BEWARE when getting a quote from Durante. They sought me out after I filled out a questionnaire about Hardi installers in Nashville and I think I now know why. They also participate in high pressure sales tactics to get you to buy that day WITH a 30% deposit likely because they need the up front cash flow, even though they tell you it's to secure your place on their install calendar. That worked out well, now didn't it.

His scope of work was very detailed, and he made us feel confident in hiring him, so we did. I can't say enough great things about them. We started out with wanting 3 rooms painted and after seeing all the prep they did and the finish product, we added 4 more rooms. Then we hired them again last week and they just finished our fence and deck and all I can say is wow. Great job Fresh Look and thank you so much for all you did. I specifically explained what I did not like about my previous design, yet over $15,000 later, I essentially ended up with the same thing. My cabinet doors are not even the same size. After installation, I was told they "had to do that to make them fit." This was never mentioned beforehand, and I was never asked if that would be acceptable. I also have a completely different design on one of the doors. Again, this was done without ever informing me or getting my approval. On top of that, some of the shelving does not even lay flat. We were also never told that the pantry shelves would be so deep that without pull-outs you can't see what's in the back. What is the point of hiring someone to design cabinets if they don't guide you on these basic functionality issues? Communication throughout the process was extremely poor. The only time David seemed to communicate consistently was when he wanted payment. For the amount of money spent, the result and overall experience were incredibly disappointing Go with someone who actually guide you on your project with their expertise.

The person who they sent to install the carpet, John, arrived at my door and as soon as he stepped in my house I could smell that he reeked of marijuana. If I wasn't on a time crunch, I would have sent him packing and asked for a new installer. It was so strong that when he left to go get some supplies, my bedroom smelled like marijuana. My wife came in the room to check the progress and immediately said it smells like weed in here. After the install, I called Nationwide to let them know that it was not ok to have someone doing installs that reeked of Marijuana and it was super unprofessional. I first talked with Cameron who said he has known John for years and I probably just smelled cigarettes. I told Cameron that I had been around Marijuana in the past and I know what it smells like. He was obviously gaslighting me to cover for his buddy. I then asked to speak with the owner, since Cameron was blowing me off. I next spoke with Chris and explained the situation to him and he also tried to gaslight me and said you probably just smelled cigarettes because John is a smoker. I again explained to Chris I knew what marijuana smells like and John reeked of it. I explained to Chris it was very unprofessional to have his installer come to a job reeking of weed. Chris just apologized and said he would talk to John. Chris never said let me give you some money off the cost of the install since that was unacceptable, nope just acted like I didn't know what I smelled and made excuses. I won't be using them again!
